Has anyone had experiences with this? I live in Nashville and I'm not too excited about camping. I'm thinking of going to see what i want to see and then leaving and coming back the next day. Is this going to be a pain in the ass or is it do-able?
What about day parking on Thursday? I'll be arriving Wednesday night (with a KOA spot for that night) and meeting up with friends that'll arrive Thursday afternoon....I wanted to try and spend some time in centeroo Thursday then leave and enter the farm with 'em, but if day parking isn't that simple, I might just have to wander WalMart 'til they're ready to get in....

I'm going to bump this thread now that the board is more active.
I will be doing Day Parking this year and just wondered about a few things.
Does anyone know if you can go back and forth to your car freely and hang out there - like if we wanted to bring food etc?
Which entrance do I go to for day parking and are there separate signs? I am going without my fiance this year and I am a little directionally challenged........
This is from the official information guide from last year. After discussing the re-entry policy for the campgrounds this is what it had to say. It really does not address "hanging out" or eating at your car. I can't imagine that would be a problem.
"This policy will not affect day parkers. They will be allowed to enter and leave through a separate tollbooth on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. To get to the tollbooth for day parkers use exit 111 from I-24 and follow the signs to the festival. If exit 111 is closed, follow police instructions and then follow the signs to day parking."

Cool thanks
I will have the "pleasure" of taking my 15 year old daughter and her friend, so any money I can save on food and stuff will make things a little better.
I know for sure that day parking was closed on Thursday evening last year. We had some friends that waited in line for like an hour and when they got to day parking, they were turned around and had to go park at my house and walk. They missed The Motet because of that!.
I can't say it will be that way this year as they are callingit 4 days!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
anybody know the policy on leaving your car in the day parking over nite?
like if you drove in, got a little too crazy and then found some people to stay with in the tent city.
they don't tow cars i'd assume?
if you want to meet your friends, just get into the car with them once they get inside the grounds; the wait is still spectacular once you're in
We didn't have any trouble leaving one of our two cars in day parking the entire time (sort of a "home base" to leave anything we didn't want to shuttle back and forth to the hotel at 4am).
The only time I'd think there would be towing would be late Monday night. We never had any problems sitting in a chair at the trunk having lunch or whatever. They left us completely alone after we were parked.
They really don't control the day parking much after you enter the grounds. They will have a guy directing you in and which way to go, but after you get on the grounds you can pretty much drive where you want to. Even into the camping areas on the side of the farm if you are so bold!
You can definitely hang out at your car and leave it overnight. you will have no problem there.
As with everything else at roo, its pretty laid back!

camping, imo, is an intergral part of the experience
We camped last year and my daughter was not happy - the heat really got to her. Plus we will be 3 girls - clueless about putting up a tent And we have 2 dogs that we would need to be put in kennels, so driving in is a better way for us to go.
i understand trippindaisy, i guess camping isn't for all, being from south georgia i am conditioned to the hot humid weather as we don't use air conditioner during the summer and have done lots of camping, I can't wait for the spring, well...it has been in the high 70s here all week, crazy weather,

We are going VIP - Will we be allowed to leave the grounds for a grocery or gas run?
Why? It is only 4 days, wouldn't you have enough stuff with you to last that long? I don't know if they let you leave once you are parked, but if so I can't imagine trying to drive through the craziness to go anywhere.......

Not everyone's coming in an SUV. Some people may not have enough room for anything but bare essentials (shelter and clothing), and plan on doing a food run once they are settled in.
For example, I'm planning on a leisurely 2-day motorcycle ride to Tennessee, which means tent, sleeping bag/mat, clothing, toiletries, propane mini-stove and mess kit, camelbak, a collapsible cooler bag, and some energy bars. Ideally, once I've unloaded my tent and clothes, I'll have enough room for a proper shop (cream, eggs, sausage, muffins).

Ahh ok that makes sense. Well if you are doing VIP they have free food available there. And there are hundreds of people selling good cheap food all over, so you wouldn't really need to leave
