How many gallons of water are u bringing? My group has about 50 so far between the four of us. Is that too much or not enough? Also would the hippies get mad at us for cooking meat or stuff like that?
50 gallons for 4 people? That's quite a bit. That's over 10 gallons per person per day. I think my group is brining in the realm of 1 gallon per person per day. Really depends on how much water you want to ingest I suppose. You should definitely bring plenty to stay hydrated, but don't go overkill.
Don't worry about cooking meat, there are tons of people grilling. Just again, don't bring too much. When it's balls hot outside, sometimes it's easier to just go buy something grilled from a vendor instead of slaving over the grill yourself.

Erm...Heavy, i think your math is a little off. Thats a bit more than 3 gallons per day per person, which is fairly reasonable if you are trying to be safe and cheap. I'm sure you'll have some left over, but if come saturday you can already tell you have extra, there will probably be plenty of people willing to buy some. As far as food, I was also wondering if it would be acceptable to bring food without a grill, and try to find some people who will let me use their grill. I assume it shouldn't be too hard, but i'd like to hear your responses
I have 24 gallons so far, but I'm bringing some for people that are flying in and stayin in tent only. As far as food, I'm only bringing snacks like chips/pretzles and some breakfast bars. I'm also bringing coffee/cream/chocolate syrup for iced mochas!

Wow, I think the Roo excitement has severly impeaded the logic centers in my brain.
speaking of water, how strict are they with the camelpaks? Do I really need to enter Centeroo with it empty or can I fill it with water beforehand?
It really depends on who's working the gate. How strictly the rules are enforced can vary tremendously. In general, the lines that are moving faster are your best bet.
Also, don't stress too much about bringing enough water, there is plenty available (for free) on site. It has a sulfur taste but is totally drinkable (for me at least).

I'm bringing two cases of 24 water bottles. One case will be frozen and used as ice until melts and then we'll drink it. I think that'll be more than enough.
Yeah we froze a couple of gallons. I was also wonderin about the whole camelpak thing if i were to tuck the hoes into the pocket that its held in would they make me open it up or would they just check the normal pocket where my food and stuff will be?
ha ha ha!!! I'm picturing 80,000 evil hippies ganging up on one person who had the gall to cook meat!!!!!
80,000 hippies all chanting "meat eater, meat eater were gonna get the meat eater..." hahah you better rethink that grill, hippies can be very intimidating!
I was going to post something about bottled water and camelbacks and then go to bed, but now all I can think about is steak. I'm going to the supermarket now, nothing like prime rib at 4 in the morning.
You need about 1/2 your body weight in ounces of H2O on a day with a moderate amount of exercise, but since we will be in 100 degree heat and be shakin our asses all day I would up that 30-50 ounces a day depending on how big you are
this is definantly on the safe side. You should never be thirsty. If you're thirsty then you are already dehydrated. Drink a good deal of water before you go into Centeroo in the morning, especially if you were drinking alcohol the night before. your body is dehydrated in the morning. Be safe everyone.
p.s. remember to eat healthy. It will give you much more energy and you won't pass out

What I always learned is this: You should be hydrated to the point that you are sweating, and that you have to urinate once in a while. If you're not having to piss on a normal basis, you're not drinking enough. At least that's what my mommy told me.

We usually bring 24 16oz bottles(only two of us) for our campsite and 8-12 frozen liter bottles for Centeroo consumption, this cuts down on the ammount of ice you need initially. The frozen bottles obviously stay cold for quite a while, but they also help you ration-out your supply since you can't drink too much at one time. Oh yeah.....sunscreen! I can't stress that enough! Even if it's overcast, apply it liberally & often!
A good rule of thumb for me has been --> bring double the water you were planning on bringing if you want to have just enough --> bring triple the water you were planning on bringing if you want to feel good and be able to share. If you're going to overdo it on any one thing (AND I MEAN THAT 100%), make it water. There's plenty of fine tasting water in Centeroo if you're willing to wait a couple of minutes, but trust me...bring water for your campsite...water with you at all times...and water to give to the folks who never read this thread!
I went with two 19 year olds who, as they said, had enough beer to drown a rhino. I also brought Orange Juice and 24 16 oz bottles for each of us. We then added some large containers of water for showers, hands, etc. We were out of beer by Sunday AM and we had barely enough water to make it to Monday AM and I know we purchased some water at Centeroo.
You only need to see someone receiving medical attention for dehydration once to remember to start drinking water way before you think you need to.

I support the theory theres no such think as too much water. I drink bottled water at home, so what i dont finish, i can finish at home. As for food, im lazy, so i just bring snack foods and breakfast, then buy the rest of my meals usually on a shakedown, or in centeroo. The food there is actually pretty cheap if you find the right places. When i went there was some guy on shakedown who was making pizza boats in an oven in the back of his van. I must've had atleast 5 of those, they were delicious, and cheap.
ya campground vendors are the way to go. the food is better and its cheaper. in 05 i got all my food from these hippies selling out of thier van. they made some killer ass quesadillas and had the best homemade banana bread ive ever had. i think i ate 3 loafs. and they usually gave me my food free because i stopped by 3 times a day and smoked with them everytime.
another hint. if you offer to smoke down the ice guys aslong as it is in the ice truck they will usually accept. its nice to jump in there for a few minutes of airconditoned bliss.

I'd plan on several gallons per person per day for drinking/cooking... How you plan to shower and wash up is a whole other story... Oh yeah and if you're hip like dudewheresmyroo??? and smoke herb you dont have to bring anything at all...
