you know, i got that book a while back (i worked at a bookstore and we get advanced copies from the publishers) but I never got around to reading it... but i was just reading entertainment weekly the other day, and it got a so-so review (somewhere around a C), so maybe the guy doesn't know what he's talking about
i recall them saying something to the effect of... nothing new in this book, just the same problems any parent has over how to raise their kids, except theirs marijuana thrown in.

That's pretty harsh-- it's very on the money for parents who don't want to conform-- sure we're going through what everyone else does, but most parenting books won't mention going to shows, struggling with suburbia, weed and more. And it's written well, like Nick Hornby, "High Fidelity" funny and poignant.
