I've mentioned it before in other threads, but my trick was to put Gatorade powder in my Camelbak, then once I got into Centeroo, fill it with a one-gallon thing of water (you're not supposed to walk in with a full Camelbak, and only sealed water). Having the sugar from the Gatorade throughout the day helps a lot, not to mention all that scientific electrolyte stuff.
Now, before you leave, you freeze said gallons of water, and that will last for a while. At the bottom of your cooler, get some dry ice, and put some wet ice on top of that. If you have a good cooler, and do all that, you won't need to bother with buying ice at Roo and everything will stay cold.
If you get stuck in BFE camping, grab your stuff and move to tent only. We didn't know about this option in 05, and that two mile walk from camp to Centeroo just sucked the life out of us.
I found it best to not bounce around from show to show. Take some time to sit down in the back for a couple shows that you want to see. Taking a load off for an hour or so during the day will really help you later on at night. Just pace yourself.
we got in centeroo with our camelbaks full, nice and cold. even met up with someone who put wine in his. some security doesn't even check cause of the massive crowds.

Thanks red balls! haha, but I havent been to roo before but I went to Summerfest in 04' when petty was playing and fleetwood mac the next night. Cant compare that to bonnaroo because of the vast activities bonnaroo offers but there was pleanty of beer drinking going on for the weekend and I managed. I heard the idea of freezing bottled water and making subs to keep on chill all weekend and keeping one in my backback just in case. So thats what I will do. Dont worry about hangovers. Dr. Greenthumb cures that right up!
Relax. I've seen so many people try to do everything in the first 2 hours at roo, sit back, get out of the sun, crack a beer and chill. Try to get to bed/pass out early on Thursday, it'll probably be the only good night of sleep you get.
Don't over plan. If you've figured out to the second where you are going to be and who you are going to catch beforehand, you are going to do a LOT of running around. Pick a couple of must sees, then play it by ear. Some of the best 'roo experiences are the "well, I'm here already, I'd might as well see..., who is it 'the Black Keys'? Never heard of 'em. Oh well, lets see what they're about" (true story, 2 or 3 roo's back)
Earplugs for sleeping. I'd never go without them.
Save yourself for the late night sets. These are some of the most fun shows at roo. And how else can you get moments like this,

me: oh my god i can't believe we're going to this, when am i gonna sleep?? leo: you can worry about that tomorrow
Eat well. You have to stoke the fire. Expend a lot of calories, intake a lot of calories.
Set up the best shade you can. Not having the TN summer sun directly beating down on you is golden. Sunshade, floppy hat, spot under a tree, whatever.
Water, water, water, yada yada yada. You've heard it before. Don't wind up in the 1st aide tent w/ an IV stuck in your arm.
I also seek naps during the day - find a set with a laid back vibe and stretch out near the back.
I love that, so relaxing to be able to fall asleep in Centeroo with some great relaxing music being played and not really havng to worry about waking up with your wallet missing or something.
Not to mention I got a free beer that way, Kicking back, looking out from under my cowboy hat at the Cat Power set in the afternoon, dude smiled at me and then came back five minutes later with two Magic Hat #9's. You cant beat that.

Last year I didn't manage any balance and missed lots of bands I wanted to see - including Radiohead. I stayed totally sober and straight the whole time and drank LOTS of water, but was totally exhausted by the heat and long walk from our tent - we made the mistake of going back to our tent for food etc. Having said that, I am much older than the majority of you so that seriously had some impact on me.
This year I will be day parking, so I will be getting a good night's sleep in a bed and not arriving at Roo until lunchtime. Now that I know what to expect, I plan on finding a shady spot to nap in at some point during the day, so I can stay up late for the good stuff. The drive home every night is gonna be a bitch though
Yeah, if you're camped way far away, you've got to plan on staying in Centeroo pretty much the whole day. If you're making that round trip walk more than once a day, in the heat, you're gonna be completely spent at night.

Yep I learned that the hard way. We went back to the camp to rest before Radiohead and just never got around to going back down..... So pathetic

Haha I did it on Friday and Saturday - missed Tom Petty and Radiohead - I did however make it back down for MMJ. But yeah I am really mad at myself for being so pathetic
wow... not seeing radiohead...I was front and center! waited all day... worth it!!! I think I'll be sipping straight this year with just my water/gatorade mix to back it up.
How to survive drinking and smoking and going to concerts all day: -Lots of Gatorade -Lots of Water -Powerbar for Lunch. -Awesome homeade Trail mix throughout the day -Greasy Vending food for Dinner -Nap when your body tells you, cause there is no sleep schedule at Bonnaroo
(I think Water and gatorade is the Key to survive, and gatorade and vodka is a magical expierence)
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
nah, they didnt melt. They were soft, and the coloring came off a little bit on your fingers, but other than that it was fine. I kept the baggies in my bag in my tent, and it was fine. Ther ewere so many tastes going on in my mouth, it was great.
I think i may leave out the banana chips this year though, add somethng else

I have only been to 'roo '06, but I had no trouble at all. I added it up and I got 8 hours of sleep the entire weekend - driving home was dangerous though b/c I did get sleepy on the road. my best friend Liz and I stayed up to see the sunrise everyday, then caught a short nap. We drank beer pretty much nonstop with a red bull & vodka mixed in there from time to time.
Emergen-C. I read about this stuff on inforoo and it is great. it has a TON of vitamin C and helps you rechange the next morning. and gatorade, lots of gatorade to prevent hang-overs.
This one is not a consideration for hard-core 'rooers, but we had a camp shower. we all took a cool shower right before the headliner each night and it was phenomenal! makes you feel so good!
