The Hillsboro Village area is very cool and hip, but also very pricey. If money is not an object then that is probably where I would go to I live on the West side of town, which is a little more suburban and not so cheap either but it is a nice place to raise kids.
Nobody here mentioned Prince's Hot Chicken Shack. If you spend any free time in Nashville and don't eat there, you've missed out on the best hot chicken in the world. It takes a good chunk of intestinal fortitude, you'll sweat, you might cry a little, just don't wipe your eyes with your hands after touching the chicken. Soemthing in the spices makes you feel euphoric.
I've never heard of this place - can someone tell me where it is? I'd like to check it out -
money is definately becoming more and more of an object the closer the move date gets. i really think its going to come down to the cheapest thing i can find. i've lived in Huntsville(prison city), TX in really scary apartments so hopefully that's prepared me for what i can afford now. honestly as long as i'm in nashville i'll be the happiest girl in the world. but you're right on nashvillekat, i only know one person out there right now, though i have met his friends. AND i've never lived outside of texas, it's pretty hard to get outta this place. but now i'm just rambling. ah, the things i do to get out of work. teeheehee.
well, since you sound pretty destine to end up in East Nashville, in my experience, if you're within a 10-15 minute walk to 5 points, you'll be fine. other then that, you're gonna be pretty hit or miss on that side of town.

I think it's off Dickerson Pike somewhere...I'll ask Hiboux to come on here and tell you for sure.
This is kind of off topic, now that the original topic has been so changed - but how many people flying in on Wednesday are in a hotel for the night and then on the shuttle the next morning?
I'm thinking we should organize the Nashville 'Roo party on Wednesday, since many of us will be unable to hit up what sounds like rockin' good times in the Walmart parking lot.
Someone should come up with a place we can go if we want to hang out and meet. (I can't suggest anything because 1) I've never been to Nashville, so I don't know my way around, and 2) I don't really care what I do, as long as no one minds if I get drunk and rowdy (Hey, what can I say, I'm Canadian )

I'll be in Nashville by Tuesday so I'm definitely up for some pre-roo drunkenness and rowdiness.
How many people are coming with you lazylover? If not too many people, I know of a pre bonnaroo party that is going on that wednesday with a lot of smaller local bands, I would be happy to meet up with ya or help get you information about it. Also karma from being from NY and coming all the way to TN, us TN folk are nice people!
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
^^That would be wonderful! It's just me, myself, and I coming down so this would be a good way for me to meet all you nice folk down in TN.
Where is this pre-roo party happening? Bar, house, hotel, or just on the streets of Nashville? Or perhaps a combination of all four which would be great. Thanks for letting me know about this and please keep me updated.

Also does anyone know how long of a drive it is from Nashville Airport to Downtown Nashville.....and how much a cab would cost...I have limited funds ;D
Thanks
I live near the airport, and even though it's only about a ten minute drive downtown, the cab ride is almost $30 to my house. I'm pretty sure that it's a flat rate of $20 to downtown from the airport, which I think is outrageous, but what can you do?
You could probably ask at the airport about buses. I think bus #3 takes you to West End (Centennial Park and Elliston Place). Good luck and enjoy Nashville!

Go check out the Wooten Brothers. The guys are the brothers of Victor Wooten and Futureman from the Flecktones. They play every Weds at a bar called 3rd and Lindsley I think. The play a wide range of covers. Last time I was there they played Stevie Wonder, Prince, Zepplin, Bonnie Raitt. We also got a little treat from Futureman who jammed a little with the band.
There will be 5 of us in Nashville the week b4 Roo and we would be down with meeting up with some roo-goers. We're all from long island, NY but my gf's mom lives in nashville so it seems we can put together a nice little party.
I've sent in my application to the Real World. So I'm hoping to hear back from that. I'm putting A LOT of my eggs into that basket, the MTV basket. I'm also thinking about getting a gun, and dealing crack. Being a crack dealer. Not like a mean crack dealer, but like... like a nice one. Kinda friendly like, "hey, what's up guys? Want some crack?"
Isn't there a water park right outside the city? I'm pretty sure its close to my gf's moms house if my thinking is correct. Would anybody be down for some water slides and water sports a few days before Roo?

hey, i'll be arriving into Nashville on the 12th also, we should all defiantly get together for a Pre Roo meet-up, I personally love the Beer Cellar, they have a huge variety of beer on tap, i think it was like 50+ beers on tab all at $7 a pitcher.... i always remember going, never remember leaving.
the flying saucer has an obscene variety of beer as well. they have a certian specials night but i can't remember what day it's on. i think a pre-roo nashville meet-up sounds like an awsome idea.
I'm also arriving in Nashville Tuesday and taking the first shuttle Thursday morning. I'm traveling solo and would definately be down with meeting some fellow 'Rooers for a little pre-fest mayhem. I'm planning on renting a car for the day on Wednesday for shopping and siteseeing, and wouldn't mind some company. I'm not sure where I'm staying yet. Most likely near the airport.
DEFINITELY DO THE FLYING SAUCER IF YOU CAN! It's my fave place (next to the Hermitage Hotel) in Nashville to go! If you want to be pampered (and can afford it...) hit up the Hermitage Hotel. If you want to check out a really cool bar/hang out....go to the Flying Saucer....

I'm coming down to TN on Weds as well, and am definetly down with meeting up at a bar or party...We don't have a hotel but were definetly up for hitting some bars!
Cheap.. close to Broadway and 3rd's bars.. Days Inn Nashville Downtown At The Stadium 211 North First Street I-65 & North First Street Nashville, TN, 37213 US
From the airport to downtown is a little over $20 cab fare.. adds up roundtrip.
