Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
We've got several ideas.. what has worked best for folks? I'm not talking about blasting anything, but some music while chillin out at the camp will definately be to our advantage
The accoustic guitars and some small hand drums will be coming ofc
Strange as it may sound, I really don't like people blasting music out from their camp sites at festivals. Live music is fine (I'll be there with my mandolin), but the boombox in the background drives me nuts, even if it's music I like. The great thing about Roo is choosing what I want to listen to (and what I don't).

The worst is the people who are blasting the Ramones at 5am and singing along at the tops of their voices. I really wanted to get out of my tent and punch those bitches........

We always play music at our camp but, we definitely don't blast it. We understand that not everyone has the same taste in music that we do, especially at Bonnaroo.
I always bring a small radio to listen to at camp, listened to Radio Bonnaroo some but mostly CDs.
In 2005 we were in camp Luke Skywalker, and there was these guys in an RV that had this Proffessional DJ equipment and sound effects stuff and they were BLASTING random noises Thursday night, not music, just crappy sound effects, it was like 3am and everyone was tryin to get some sleep, it was annoying. Finally the mountees came over and made them stop.

If I'm not mistaken, in '04 XM Radio was broadcasting some of the shows. It would be awesome if they did it again this year because you wouldn't miss out on a show if you had a portable receiver. At my campsite, if the XM isn't going, I'm spinning Pink Floyd cd's.

Last year I burned a bunch of CDs of bands that we would be seeing, that way people would at least know a couple of the songs played by the bands I am dragging my peeps to see. I am not one to blast music at odd hours, but I can't get too worked up if others do, not everyone is on the same schedule as me, there are no schedules, its BONNAROO!!!

We had a radio/cd player last year at our campsite, but it died the first day and we didn't have any batteries to replace it with. So, we didn't have much music at our campsite.....our campsite was pretty lame last year, I'm looking forward to camping in style this time.
This is the first year i plan on bringing a cd player to play music at camp. I've never had a problem with neighbors playing stuff, it kinds of adds to the crazy ambience of the place. Definitely won't be blasting anything way into the am, but for the night we get there, which will probably be around midnight wednesday, i am looking into purchasing a battery powered disco ball and blaring some disco music for the first hour or so that we're there. Gotta get the party started right, but after that its time to keep it quiet and be respectful, being woken up by people blasting music at night is not cool. I'm used to listening to Phish when i wake up. I've been doing it everyday for years; it makes me happy, and if i can do it quietly i think it will be alright..
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

This sounds like a good way to get some extra personal camping space to me lol. ;D ;D
yeah. a radio is definately necessary. theres radio bonnaroo which is pretty entertaing and cds as well. music is definately nice when chilling at camp. i know we definately try to be considerate and dont really turn the radio on but minimal level if at all at night after returning from late night.
We brought more mellow stuff to start the day, so nobody woke up to Donavon funkin' it up or anything, and more background music (Sigur Ros, Mogwai) for the evenings.. but we really didn't listen to all too much music.
And just be sure to keep it down.. Gotta be considerate to your neighbors that are 8 feet away.

Last year (saturday ?), we were listening to The Controls (very quitely). The obnoxious, teenage, poser, scenester, show-off, jackasses camped next to us kept laughing and making snide comments for the entire length of the disc. The fact that we could hear their bullshit comments goes to show how quietly it was playing. We said nothing during their endless shouting-sprees about "drugs" (that's how they said it EVERYTIME!) and how f*cked-up they were! dooshbagh prick kids with NOTHING to prove! I've said it before but, our camping experience was AWFUL last year!

that soundcheck or whatever it was at 7:00 in the morning last year...music blasting from Centeroo.
was this saturday>sunday morning around 7? if so, i think you might've caught the end of sasha...
Nah, this was a soundcheck of some sort coming from the main stage. They kept playing the same song over and over and over again. It pissed everyone off.
I've found at other fests that playing some Ravi Shankar brings good people around. Kinda like moths to a light. I've met some very cool folks that just stopped what they were doing, said "good music" and chilled with our group for a while.
Last year, we didn't play that much music, but when we did, we kept it to Bonnaroo artists and Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and King Crimson.... until my friend had to play Third Eye Blind... i'm having no more of that this year for damn-sure.

Except for Radiohead, Beck and Dresden Dolls, we stayed away from playing discs from Bonnaroo artists last year. We did, however, keep it at a reasonable/respectful level.

i figure, from experience, though ive never been to a festival as big as bonnaroo that there is only a slight chance that you are going to enjoy everything that your neighbors might play on their boombox
but i think its a safe assumption that pretty much ne one can enjoy someone playing an acoustic guitar or mandolin or maybe some bongos, as long as they dont suck TOO bad.
