I met up with a Roo vet today (ticket exchange), and he felt strongly that our little group plan might be for naught, if we won't be able to get in/out of our little Inforoo island up in the front of the crowd. He was of the "just plan on peeing in a cup" mindset. He said it was VERY crowded when he was last there (2005).
Maybe our old plan of having 3 (or so) separate Inforoo areas in the crowd might be a good idea, as we could "island hop" from one to the other, when we got the chance, going from the back (least crowded) towards the front.

Well, it is sounding like we are going to have at least 2 distinct groups, if not three.....people that want to be REALLY close (and we have some that are getting there REALLY EARLY which go well together ;D) and people who want to be "close but don't care to see Sting's nose hair" close....who would be more front-ish and flexible - more of a "staging" area.....Then we can have the "transients" that can just space save for anyone in either group and be the communication link and bathroom break savers (and beer getters!)...the people that LIKE fighting the crowds
Having dealt with a SMALL version up front at Chris Cornell last night.....there is safety in numbers.....the system DOES work ;D The key is saving the space EARLY! The surge happens at the last minute!

Another question, do we have a group marker???....just a little something that stands out in the crowd so we can spot the groups? I'll probably have a paper umbrella just to block sun, but I'm thinking we need something a little more unique.

Hmmmm, good point. I'll work on that....maybe we can borrow the Camp Inforoo flag for that day *evil grin*..........
We'll have to pay attention on Friday as to when VIP peeps can get into that area... I'll be watching since I want to make the Mardi Gras indians gig on the What Stage before even Ziggy.

I thought I had read somewhere on here that VIP'ers get into the stage areas much earlier than the GA'ers. Maybe I just dreamed it......
If that's true, they'll need a CornCat the size of Rhode Island to stop me from getting to the front row!
it's true-- VIP'ers are allowed to wander around MUCH earlier. Maybe even two hours, I forget. Heck, last year I could hear Beck do soundcheck at like 10am (but i couldn't get into the area at that moment, we could just hear it clearly).

Ya know I never realized that they shut off access to the "What" stage, if this is true then that means I'm with Spooky on this one, it will be like a 20yd dash. I can't stay there all day but I can get there early enough to hold down some really decent spots.

Wow, this is a great idea. I was thinking of skipping Ziggy, and seeing Ben and the Po-po, but now after reading this I'm thinking of joining if we have enough people and a good plan.
Having a Flag with the group is a great idea and would help if people went to go eat or go to the washroom.

I would guess that we won't be able to set up a flag on a flagpole......most large public events bar such things, as they could end up falling and hurting people, or even be turned into a weapon by a nutcase.....
We can all wear our Inforoo shirts (I'll wear my yellow one, once the sun goes down). Yellow shirts would definitely stand out in that crowd.
LOL....WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY WON"T LET US SET UP A FLAG POLE FOR THE INFOROO FLAG??? DON'T THEY KNOW WHO WE ARE???? But, seriously, good point. The inforoo shirts are probably our best bet, and maybe we could drape some things over chairs if we have enough. Someone had mentioned that the "Semi-Devoted" group might try to get organized and established near the mixing boards....that might be a good plan to shoot for, that is always a good marker and it is usually a good viewing (and listening) spot (tho a bit high traffic) But you can make friends and get set lists sometimes..... ;D Very Important....
If we can get our VEEPS organized and out early (with PLENTY of chairs and such) and spread out up front to save space we'll be in good shape for the rest of the day. There will be a lot of fruit basket turn over during the day....that's going to happen, but the main thing is to not get bunched up....we want to stake out primo spots - but think SPACE - this is a marathon - the sprint will happen during Ben.....THAT"S when the crush will really start....the other crushes will just be temporary.....except for the other die hards who MIGHT be as sneaky and organized as us... But I so doubt it....
