What road do we take to get the best camping spots for RV's? Non VIP. I have heard several different opinions. We will be there first thing Thursday morning.

I'm wondering the same thing. The info guide says there will be an RV camp ground for each checkpoint, entrance etc, so I've been trying to figure, based on prior year's maps, which checkpoint would be closest......it looks to me like it would probably be either coming in off 24 W to the 112 exit (what I am leaning towards) Or coming off 24 E.....It's definitely NOT looking like Bushy Branch....that looks like the furthest.
Luckily I can pretty much pick whatever looks to give me the best camping since I'm only about 90 min. south. Going up 55 would be the most direct route for me, but we are only talking MAYBE an extra 20-30 min max between any of the routes and it will be well worth it to not get stuck in BFE....
Any suggestions from 'Roo vets? I know they are changing the way they are doing RV this year, so we are all kind of having to guess.....
This is a good thread. This will be my 4th consecutive year taking an RV. Alot of the suggestions here are good. The suggestion about the lockbox is pure brilliance. I had not thought about that before, but after reading that I just ordered one. Good Work! In the past we had set the keys in a compartment in the generator. That worked as well.
Many of the suggestions here are great.
I will add that if you are taking Cruise America, and have a problem, call your leasor, they can immediately call a mechanic. Cruise America has so much equipment invested onsite at Bonnaroo (pretty much every RV in the 500-700 mile radius of Bonnaroo, and more well beyond that), that they have mechanics on site.
The best way to get a great GA RV spot is to show up Wednesday night in your RV. Come down New Bushy Branch Road after sundown on wednesday night and go to the Main Gate. They load the best, closest RV campground to the mainstage first. The other RV campgrounds are out near the Main Gate off New Bushy Branch, and are loaded last, usually on thursday, after the closest one fills up.
GA to Bonnaroo traditionally opens after sundown the night before the gates are slated to open. This alleviates traffic. FWIW, VIP does not open until thurs AM.

Why doesn't Bonnaroo release the campground map early??
If things are changing for the RV sites it would be nice to know where to go to get the best spot.
We are staying at a campground 45 minutes from Manchester and should arrive around 6-7 am Thursday morning. Would that be enough time to get the closest lot?

I'm sure this has been asked elsewhere, but I've searched everywhere and can't find a definite answer. I'm new to the 'Roo, please help!
I am attending the fest with some friends who have an RV. Sadly, I need to leave early Sunday because of work, so I will be driving my own car down separately.
Where can I park my car so that I can get it out on Sunday? My best idea so far is at the Greyhound bus station in Murfreesboro, and plan to catch the Greyhound out of Manchester at 4:30 Sunday. But I'd much rather just be able to walk to my car and drive out if possible! Anyone know if I'm dreaming here?
You should just drive your car on to the festival site. You will be put in a different section than the RVs. Just park wherever they put you and kick it in the RV all weekend. On Sunday walk back to your car and you should have no problem getting out. Their is no need at all to park away from Bonnaroo and mess with buses.
Also, for all those renting RVs, be sure to bring sheets and blankets. Cruise America does not provide this stuff and I'm unsure of other rental companies.
Here's another tip for the RV'ers out there. We bought a roll of mylar (you know, that silver reflective film?) and taped it up in our windows to keep the sun from heating up the RV. We think it worked pretty well and we really didn't have to use the AC much...just during the mornings (until noon or 1 or so) before we went into Centeroo. Stay cool, heads!

i have a question similar to jem's... my hubby and i are in VIP, and our friends have an RV, but we were just planning on camping in our tent within their little perimeter...if we have a regular parking pass, can we still park with them?? or will they put us somewhere else? all i really care about is being able to camp next to them so... any info would be awesome!! ;D

As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

I saw tents next to campers last year. I don't think you will be able to park your car next to them. Drop you stuff off by the camper and then park the car where the others are tent camping.. They do not direct you into a spot for camping, they direct you to the general area.
