Whilst looking for hair wraps to keep my long wavy hair up while hooping & at 'Roo, I came across these on Etsy.com:
They're large (78" x 35") gauze muslin hand-dyed wraps and were a great deal @ $15/each! A bunch of different uses for these, such as dress, skirt, poncho-style wrap, scarf, head wrap....my immediate thought was to use at night instead of a hoodie cause it can be scrunched into a pack or tied around my waist when not in use. I can't wait to get 'em but it may be a bit; they're coming from Sydney, Australia!

Does anyone remember, did Mayonaise ever post pics of her knitted headbands? I can't find pictures if so.
I picked up my crocheting stuff again last night, and I am determined to figure out how the crap to do it and make something!
Hey there dear - No I did not post pics yet bc im a lazy ass. I swear to God in heaven above I will post them tonight. I TOOK the pics, i just never POSTED them... but im ON it!
knitted headbands sound so cool. knitting and crochet have an entireley different look and feel. knit is mich smoother and tighter.
i'm a big dorky crocheter and i think i might have a pattern for a headband around here somehwere. if not you could always make a skinny scarf and just make it like half or one third the length depending... enough to tie around your head and have a little hanging. fun!
i was thinking if my wrist heals up that i might crochet up a nice hobo bag. but then i found some cool ones at old navy dot com.
hopefully by next roo my bag-sewing skills will be honed and i will get to sew some with the grooviest fabric i can find. :-)

Thanks! Yup, it's www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5830493, the seller's name is colourbazaar. There is also farmhouseboutique on etsy, who has a similar dyeing style. They both refer to it as Waldorf-inspired, which actually does pull up some great items on etsy.com when I searched for "Waldorf colors." I don't know what it really means but it's pretty.
I'm planning to make my own clothes for Roo. Any suggestions? I guess mostly just make it lightweight and short!
I'm making some of mine too! Go to craftster.org and just search for things that catch your interest, such as 'sundress.' There are a ton of tutorials on it. I'm making a blue jersey skirt with foldover waist (I'm so short, it could be used as a dress too) and a couple of cotton batik dresses and wrap skirts. I'm pretty new to sewing, so everything from the cotton will be made with elastic or drawstrings as I'm not going to attempt a zipper. And I'm making a one-seam dress/skirt from this beautiful rainbow-looking shirred fabric I purchased from Hancock Fabrics in early April.
Seriously though, check out www.craftster.org. I found so many great inspirations and tutorials on there.
For skirts and dresses, I actually recommend going at least knee-length. Then you can sit cross-legged on the ground and not flash anyone or end up sitting with nothing underneath you. Plus they're better for dancing and catching breezes.

******Pre-Apology: I have no idea how to size these pics down - so sorry for the humongoid photos. ******
Okay! here's the story - I started with just making a head band (purple/yellow/blue) and made braided ties.
Then I was like - maybe I can spellout bonnaroo... well I had to learn how to "carry" a yarn, so this one came out a little ...off. but still cute!
Here it is on my head...
And then I attempted to learn from my mistakes, and make another one that was wider, with more distinct color difference, and centered the word on the band. Still havent made the tie-backs yet, but they're super easy so I know I can knock it out in an hour.
so there you go You guys let me know what you think! I was hoping to score some beer money off of these AT roo - keep a handful in my back pack - they're so cheap to make, im thinking $5-$10 each? Be honest - is that reasonable? Do you guys have suggestions? I trust all of your opinions, you're my Roo girls!

Thanks! I did wear the p/y/b one to the office one day - and I did think that it was a little hot. But then I pulled my hair up into a tail, and it wasnt so much. I tried to make the follow up ones with a less tight stitch, so they "breathe" more. I havent worn them around yet to test it...

Im so glad you guys are down with the bands! I am so gonna make a handful more! And i'll try to post them on my ebay or something so if you ladies see one you're interested in, we can exchange before the roo. $5, no shipping! wOOt!
In other craft news - I am taking a sewing class so I can get more proficient on my sewing machine. Im kinda self taught, but this class is all about getting familiar with your machine and different seaming, and what im MOST excited about: Buttonholes!!! If that class goes well, i am making my own sundresses. fo sho.

That's awesome! I really want to take a sewing class for that same purpose. Right now I'm just trying to track down a manual for my new machine (new to me, not new new).

Go to Walmart! I never find anything at walmart and then on Saturday I stopped in to get some oil for the car and decided to check out the Juniors Dept. Omg there were soooo many cute summer dresses! I got 2 dresses for 10$ each, a pair of booty shorts (for sleep) for 3$, and the softest tank in the world for 6$. Amazing. I think I may go back tomorrow and pick up a few more dresses!
i am having the hardes time finding a completely white sundress! i have the strong urge to tye dye one after i saw my friend bonnie's that was so beautiful. everyone that i can find is either too expensive or toooooo see-through (which is why i actually hate wearing white clothing)! ugh. let me know if anyone runs across one!

You should try to stop and look into stores like Deb, Charlotte Russe, and Joyce Leslie. They aren't the most expensive of stores and they have a lot of cute dresses all the time.
I also just looked it up on CharlotteRusse.com and they have a white sun dress for 28.99$. Just cant tell from the pic what the material is like and whether its see through or not. But you can always get a cute pair of booty shorts for underneathe and a tank.
Hey has anyone seen anything like this in any local stores like Target, etc? I really like them but I just don't know if there enough time to order them before bonnaroo...
aw, man, that sucks! I believe it was someone on here who gave me that link last year. I've never bought anything from them though I keep thinking that one day I will.

This made me laugh out loud. Last year during Cat Power's set, I was overly concerned with people being able to see my underwear when I noticed a couple of young women in front of me who were wearing COMPLETELY SHEER BRAS and nothing else. Figured no one would be interested in my underwear with them around. ;D
On the subject of making clothes for 'Roo, I noticed JoAnn's was selling bolts of fabric with smocking on top and then just plain fabric. You could simply seam and hem it for a simple sundress, or find coordinating fabric and do alternating large ruffles/tiers for a maxi dress.
