I think elastic is probably good. I'm very excited to make some jewelry and give gifties. I hope we can manage to find each other there and swap pretties! (Also, "swap pretties" sounds like some odd variation of "bump uglies" but I find it too funny to bother rephrasing ;D)

Hey ladies, I have a friend who will be attending bonnaroo with me. She doesn't know what shoes to wear, I told her crocs, she said no. So what should I suggest to her?

wore them my first year and didn't get a chance to break them in before roo (so i was scared), but i amazingly had no pain/soreness/blisters whatsoever!
ALL of the straps are adjustable, so they fit perfectly, and can be adjusted for swelling throughout the weekend (which i took full advantage of!). bottom line, awesome shoes.

my personal style of shoes are flip flops (cant ever seem to take them off, even in winter?!?) and THE best and most comfortable flip flops are reefs.
www.reef.com/girls/productdetail/girls/footwear/sandals/1516 ive had a pair like this for the last 3 years, and attended roo in them twice. wore them for the whole 4 days and my feet still felt good by the end. they have a great arch for support (especially if youre flat footed like me!) and dont rub blisters because they are a soft cloth material. id definitely advise your friend of these. this will be my third roo with these sandals!

So I got my e.l.f package today and was very excited. I've tried out one of the nail polishes, the oil blotter sheets, pressed powder and the lip balm so far
I love the lip balm - it's berry flavor. The pressed powder is a little heavy plus a little dark for me - so I won't be using it. The nail polish goes on really well - I will see how long it lasts..... I'm not sure about the oil blotter sheets yet......
I still need to check out the mascara, lip gloss, mineral powder, and eye make up and nail polish remover pads. And to think I only spent $18 plus shipping

how long did it take for your elf package to come? normally when i order stuff online they give me like a tracking number or something... but elf didn't. and i'm getting antsy. haha

I highly recommend that she gives a second thought to Crocs. I -and many of us on here - would NEVER wear Crocs in real life, but wouldn't dream of wearing anything else on the farm. It's a different world down there and if it's wet and muddy, flip flops won't cut it

It came regular mail and I think it took about a week.

I totally agree. When people here first said Crocs, I was like there is no way in hell I am wearing those But enough people convinced me it was a good idea that I tried them and they were right.

i have a friend who is going. she only wears dress shoes and she doesnt have a lot of cash. has anyone tried any cheap shoes for roo. she cant buy sanuks or anything ike that and she says no to crocs.
my male friend bought some cheap charlie shoes at dollar general for 5$ and they were GREAT but i dont even know if they have those for women. has anyone tried anything from payless or walmart? she would likel something with a firm sole - and perferably not a flip flop. shes very used to pumps - thats all she wears - or barefoot.
im going to take her to the thrift store and see what we can find. i found some expensive hiking boots there - brand new - not too long ago (they were rockies) and i can usually find keds in there with tags on them for about 2.00. however if some of you can suggest some off brand shoe - that would be a good backup.

i wore flipflops (reefs or rainbows, dont remember) the whole time last year and i was fine until about saturday night and it got really bad (i have tendonitis in my feet, though). However, if it rains and get muddy it would have sucked. I would SERIOUSLY have her listen and maybe just try to find cheap crocs on craigslist or something even if she never wears them for anything else. If its because she tinks theyre ugly, maybe try a maryjane one on a subtle color. It will probably be too hot for a completley closed shoe but youre going to want something you can also wear in mud. Keep in mind you need shoes suitable for ALOT of walking, in extreme heast and maybe rain and mud.

At Payless they sell an Airwalk version of Crocs which I'm sure are a lot less expensive then the real things. Also they sell some converse-like slip ons which have a good sole and are in cute patterns. She should def. break-in the shoes before she goes though. In my experience payless shoes at first are not too comfortable but once they are worn it they fit like a glove.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I found a really great and cheap bag for bonnaroo at Old Navy. Last year the bag I used was really hard to carry - this bag is large enough and the soft shoulder strap should make it easy to carry around like a purse or put the strap across the body.
Post by belltwala1 on Feb 23, 2008 17:22:22 GMT -5
wow dont you just love old navy. thats a great bag. thanks for that. i went to old navy with my friend last week and they have some reallly cute little dressy dresses and a nice neat line called city safari. barbara walters was wearing it last week ahhahahah the blonde girl on that show picked it out for her. i saw a TON of stuff liked in there.

i was just looking at old navy online today too. they always have great summer stuff but im also waiting for the weight thing. mine has been fluctuating so much, i dont want to buy stuff now and it not fit come summertime.
On another note, I was thinking about getting a purse that goes like over my shoulder and across my chest so im not really carrying it. I carried a backpack last year and when I wanted to really dance it got annoying but I think Im going to bring a camelback instead. smaller than the backpack but carries what i need plus water.

I too, would just like to say thanks for this thread. This'll be my first Roo, so I've been searching on how to be prepared for a few months already. I tend to over-anticipate, but i don't think that's possibly for Bonnaroo. It'll live up to it's name. All of this information is great, and really really helpful.
last year I brought almost this same backpack, except my flowers are a little different. I loved it. I could throw my nalgene and my blanket and all in there and it was still small enough that it didn't get in my way.
On.y problem was I would lose my smaller items, but this year I'll just put it all in pouches.

i'm late on the bandwagon, but hippienaustin, your necklaces ARE GORGEOUS! I love the stones... we have a hobby lobby down here, and I was looking for inspiration to frequent it and I think i've found it! but i have a few necklaces like that I got from Costa Rica! The stones would look really cool with leather strings and such too! karma babe!
