Yeah it would but for the energy you could use to power it you could run a fan. I am trying to think of every possible way to have a better (cooler) sleeping experience this year.

Well What if I use both? Liek a battery powered fan AND a dehumidifier? I HATE being woken up by heat, so i am DETERMINED to find something!
But, If i cant find something to make my tent cool, I will def. be going to yoga!
I haven't read many of the pages on here because I'm taking a pop up, the heat was a little too much for me last year. Although I would definitely do it again if I had to. But my girlfriend found this portable battery powered A/C. It runs on ice for the cooling and there is a review of it on cabelas. Sounds like if you are pretty handy too that it could be tweaked out to work best for bonnaroo. For 70 bucks this looks like a great idea ALONG WITH the $10 battery fans from wall mart. Batteries last 24 hours and will cool tent up to 30 degrees.
There were a few pages on here about taking a car battery and a AC converter to run a fan. I plan on doing some tests with that this spring to see how it will work. A deep cycle battery would work better, but I have an extra car battery so I'm going to try that.

I was actually considering buing this. I personally spoke with a representative from Cabelas who said this AC doesnt work well in humidity, becuase it uses evaporative cooling.
On 21-22 June every year, the summer solstice happens, which is the longest day of the year, renfair people and hippies have parties, blah blah blah. What I'm getting at here is that the Sun's ecliptic (the path that the sun appears to travel in the sky) is at its northernmost point of the year. It rises at 23.44 deg ENE and swings around south to its apex and sets at 23.44 deg WNW. SO.... what this has to do with keeping your tent cooler, is that when you get to bonnaroo, get your compass out of your pocket, find due East, and turn 23 degrees to the north. That is exactly where the Sun will be rising. Align your shade makers and your tent sides this way, and do the same thing to find where the Sun sets. Put shade makers there. Now you have a campsite that has continuous shade all day long without having to untie and retie stuff. SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOHOOOOOO!
I was going to post something to this effect. If you are on the equator the sun rises in the northeast on the longest day of the year(right around roo) So... if you put you shade tent on the ENE side of your sleeping space and have a shade tent that you can angle you should get some extra sleep time.

Those battery operated personal fans don't work nearly as well as you hope they will. We used one last year and because it's so humid and hot you can't even tell it's on. If your willing to open your cooler and sit the fan on it for a little bit that might work better. We didn't try it so i'm not sure though.
if all else fails (and you dislike your earth-mother) you can always get in the car and hit the a/c. Thats why i bring extra gas and sleep masks (and an ambien)
get a shade tent with a sturdy frame (we have a wal-mart brand ez-up), clamp some light tapestries on each side to block the sun and allow the breeze, leave the rainfly off the tent, and hope for the best.
if all else fails, drag your mattress/cot/sleeping bag out of the tent in the AM and sleep for a few hours under the shade tent.
Anyone know/have experience with a deep cycle battery and power converter. I'm trying to decide if I need to by a solar panel to recharge it throughout the weekend. Or will the deep cycle battery have enough juice to last without the recharge. I'll be running 2 fans off of the battery.
KoolerAire fits securely within the top portion of your cooler trapping the cold air inside. Once the unit is turned on the powerful, 100 cfm, brush-less fan draws hot air in through the large opening directly into and through the ice. The air is instantly cooled to about 50 degrees before being released through the smaller vent.
This works!! I have one and so does my best friend. The whole thing is powered by this:
The battery pack will last for 27 hours straight.
Cost for the ac unit: $39 Cost for the battery pack (also works as a jump starter for a car): $59

You are right, this works well when there is no humidity. Unfortunately, the humidity is the killer at 'Roo. We tried a set-up similar to this one last year and it didn't make a difference at all. We just spent a lot of $$$ on ice that melted pretty quickly. If you stay in VIP, the food tents have lots of room and couches. They have very weak AC but it's enough to keep you from sweating. Also, the lighting is very dim which makes for a nice napping spot.
I had a canopy over my tent last year and still we didn't sleep later than 8am. I think that this year I'm just gonna plan on sleeping on a lounge chair outside the tent in the shade for as long as I can after the heat wakes me up.

i think i managed to sleep til 9:30 last year before the tent got too hot. i didn't have much trouble getting a few more hours of sleep in a chair under the canopy. i chalk that up to living in phoenix for so long.
