My friends and I are leaving from Toledo, OH on WED night. We are trying to get a caravan going because we don't have that many people going this time. I've heard from about 4 groups that are intrested. If anyone is intrested in doing this hit me up at fluffhead720@yahoo.com. This could be really fun ;D

I think we'll be on I-75 for a portion of the trip. Let me know when you might be someplace particular and we'll add on if we're going to be in the area.
We're going to be leaving western NY some time before noon on Wednesday.

Wow, I've had tremendous response to this. What I really need is an email from everyone telling me where your from and what time you plan on leaving. If everyone follows through we could have the biggest camp site at the ROO. If your coming from Michigan you'll coming right through Toledo most likely. We will leave in between 11 and midnight WED. We should hit Cincy by about 2:30 am at the latest. These are my plans no let me now yours. And remember..... TEXTWE WANT YOU!!!
Brian I emailed you already. Drugs, I'm in Cincy. My friends and I are in the caravan as well. 5 strong right now, but with more possible. I might have some joiners coming down I-71 from Cleveland.
Anyone coming down I-71 should join us too. Strength in numbers, woo-hoo!
Last year I ran into some people that had a nice spot, they came in not too far behind us but had a better spot. So I asked how'd you pull that off. About 5 cars came in with them and the first person in the line told the guy taking tickets that the 5 people behind them were together, they got in together and set-up in a more open area. We might want to try this.
Had to go looking for the thread is was in the back. So how many people we got coming so far? Another question is does anybody in the caravan have those 14 channel walkie talkies from radio shack, or wherever? I've got one, if a few of us had them it'd make meeting up on the road easier. They only have a two mile radius though. I'll give Brian (fluffhead720) my cell number that way I know when to get on the highway. Is it bad I'm looking foward to the drive down to Roo?

Hopefully everyone will have a cell. I also found text messaging to be a very quick way to comunicate.
I want to know if anyone has any ideas about how to meet up.
I thaught that the people leaving from the northern most point (Detroit, I think) could call when they get to a certain point close to Toledo and we could get on the road accordingly. Then do the same with everyone else. When we hit up with the southern most people make a stop for gas so everyone is riding on a full tank, the less stops the quicker the trip.
This could end up being complicated so if anyone else has ideas lets her them.
If everyone who sent me an email goes its something like 8-10 groups and multiple cars in each group. So were probally talking about close to 20 cars!!!!
Another suggestion I have is that we get gas about 10 or so miles outside manchester. Running out of gas while in line would be bad. Not to mention it hurts your car.

2 Chicago chicks really looking to tag along with a large caravan.... very interested to meet new 'roo kids and jam it up~ sounds really exciting. who ever is in charge PLEASE email me: AriesGrad2003@aol.com // AIM: DreamingBetween2
Below is a message I sent to Brian (fluffhead...) who initiated the I-75 string. See what you think of my comments and suggestions as to coordinating a caravan...
Slo'hand Man
Hi Brian,
I'm back at my original e-mail now.
The only way I see that a caravan can work is to set an agreed upon arrival time. I figure it is 8-9 hours to Manchester. If we want to arrive between 6-8, we need to leave at 10:00 p.m. The beauty is whether a person is leaving Detroit or elsewhere north, or those coming down I-71, etc. they would be leaving their respective locations staggered accordingly and we will naturally converge.
So, if everyone agrees on an arrival time, we in essence will keep encountering each other. Right?
There is a huge rest area just south of Florence, Ky - at a Williamsburg exit I believe. That would be a great first rendevous for everyone converging southward. Others could suggest stops farther south. We also need an identifier. I guess you have been following the t-shirt designs on the listserv. Well, we could create an iron-on design that everyone could transfer to a plain white handkerchief that we all attach to our antennae.
I had submitted a very simple concept in the design contest that may serve the purpose well. Basically it says: 'ROOvin'04 done in two fonts and a little jazzed. On the opposite side we could iron on some catch phrase alluding to the I-75 Caravan (I-75 Drivie Train - or I-75 with the words Arrivin' Bonnaroo below it).
The main thing is keeping it simple and bold, therefore very legible and easily sighted (of course not to many people drive down the highway with handkerchief-sized flags!).
What do you think? If you agree I can post this to Inforoo later for additional input.

It is tops 8hrs I think. I like the idea, but I may not be able to leave at 10 on Wed (I work till 10). I say 11, that way with stops we should make it by 8-9. This should let us get in by early aafternoon on Thurs. I like the idea of all meeting at the rest stop, but by this time we should all fill our gas tanks so we won't have to keep making stops for gas. As time gets closer we should all exchange cell #s. This way we can call when the Caravan is reaching the next groups depature area. For example..............
When the people from Detroit are getting close to Toledo they give us a call and leave accordingly. When we join the caravan we will call the next group in ADA when we get close. We will do this with all the groups till we get to the southern most group. We should stop here and fill our tanks so everyone is riding on a full tank of gas. Then its clear sailing.

We are leaving Cleveland Ohio via 71 to columbus, then to 75 in cinnci, we are meeting up with some people at rest stop north of manchester on the final leg of road.. we have about 15 people in our caravan so far, last year we left a bit later than this and hit traffic on exit ramp but still took about 6 hours in traffic.

Hey Guys!!! Love to join the caravan and burn a few once we get to Roo!! Please email me @ queenpisces420@hotmail.com I'm coming from Oregon so Im not sure of the logistics...should be arriving in TN Wed....Think we can do it?? Im sooooooo Excited please someone email me back with some details!!!
In Cincinnati here, let me know what's going on with the caravan. I sent fluffhead my cell number to call when he get's close. Headcount time. About how many people are going to be in this? I've got one car with two people. A Black VW Golf GTI (Hence my AIM name golf98gti). The first person in the ticket line needs a number to tell the people X amount of cars are behind me, this way we can camp together, and hopefully be in a good spot. I'll also have a small Radioshack walkie talkie. I'll figure out what channels it has. I'm sure it's 1-14 or some such. This way if anybody else has one we should be good in case of a cell dropout. As for gas how do we signal that we need some. That sort of thing should be worked out. Let's get the Roo started right. Good vibes and no police searches. ;D
Hey guys--we are from north of Cincy and were planning on leaving around 2am Thursday morning. HOw about if we all meet up at the KENTUCKY WELCOME CENTER---EXIT 177 southbound 75--around 3am? That would be easy for everyone to find, I think. ;D I am so d**n excited about this trip I can barely sleep
Turns out finally leaving detroit at 8pm. and we are just gonna start driving, and if we see anyone on the road from bonnaroo we are gonna flag em down and burn one and start our caravan .
Look for a 93 panel van, painted with the words "phabulla" all over.
