Anybody else think that there's a chance that Oysterhead may not play late night? Did we have a reason for thinking they would before? This leads me to believe that they may play the set right before Petty, with Costello in the early afternoon.
I agree, the chances of them playing latenight have dropped a little now, and they may be mainstage before Tom Petty. St. Louis isn't that far, but it's a good 6-7 hours. If the Ohead show ended at 2 or 3, that doesn't leave a whole lot of time to get to St. Louis. Though, they don't have an entire stage setup (lights and all) to breakdown so perhaps I'm wrong.
Do you think Oysterhead will play on Which Stage (2nd biggest) on Friday late night? If so, do you think they'll also have someone play on that stage late night on Saturday?
jtr - it's possible. Which stage on Friday would be the only late night stage they could grace. But to this date, Bonnaroo has not done the which stage late night on Friday, only on Saturday, so it's pure speculation.
Beck will likely be Which Stage on Saturday Late Night.

I would support this. In fact, I'd park myself DFC and not move all day.

Well damn - that rules out a lot of Trey guest appearances (unless he flies back after Saturday). And that also rules out a lot of Oysterhead rehearsals.
Bastards better play late night -- it would be almost pointless otherwise.
For whatever reason, I see Oysterhead like the Word from last year - the similarities are there (reunited jam-friendly supergroup, first show after a long absence, etc), so I could definitely see them getting a 90 min or 2 hr set on the main stage starting around 530/6, leading into Petty. Just a thought.
Definitely a lot of similarities. I guess the 6:00 slot is increasingly likely. They're just such a "nighttime" act to me its hard for me to picture, but the 6:00 slot would probably be a lot less conflicty for me than late night.
Here's my one slim, contrived shred of hope for the ideal "jam fan" situation of Umphrey's Bisco late night one night and Oysterhead late night the other (this is very contrived):
Since the early info on Oysterhead was Saturday, maybe that was the original plan but had to be rescheduled once the Trey/Petty dates were set. Maybe they will move Umphrey's/Bisco to Saturday night now that Oysterhead has to be on Friday.
...And I figured it all out based on the few tidbits of info released. Yeah, that's real likely.

dude oysterhead will not play in the day time... they will be a second stage late night. oysterhead has to be a latenight show. there would be nowhere for a glowstick war without nighttime oysterhead. if it is a daytime show i will give you my ticket and you can take another friend. seriously

im positive that oysterhead will be at night. and if they are during the day then the main draw for me isnt as big of a draw anymore so i would just save for 10klf
you're serious? Oysterhead is the main draw for you at Bonnaroo? I take it you've never seen them, then?
I hope you don't get your hopes up for some out-of-this world performance from them. Trey is touring with his band and Tom before the Roo, and he is only there for one day. At best, they are going to play 2 hours, and I keep my fingers crossed that Trey knows the material well enough to play it well. I'm as a big a Trey fan as there is on this board (I actually enjoy his current project unlike most phish fans), but I'll be realistic, this Oysterhead show has the potential to be mediocore at best. It also has the potential to be very good, or somewhere in the middle. I would certainly not go to Bonnaroo with Oysterhead as your main draw, though, especially with the news of Today. It's setting yourself up for disappointment. I've seen them twice and know they need time and a tour to get it clicking on *that* level. I'm sure it'll be a great show and they won't turn it in. However, I'm 100% positive there will be better shows that weekend.

well to each their own... but ill take an oysterhead show over trey doing more covers with an american idol or an mtv poster boy. ive been to many shows, many festivals. and a couple of roos. i am quite sure that i know what to expect. i havent been to an oysterhead show but have heard alot of their live shows. i wouldnt worry about any of the 3 knowing the material. and im sorry but alot of treys new stuff just dosent do it for me, its not bad but id rather pop in older stuff. so maybe your just into a different sound then me. i am sure their are many who are expecting oysterhead to be one of the top shows of the weekend

There probably will be better shows that weekend but Oysterhead is rare.... They're definately a big part of why im drawn to Roo this year... We all know they're not the best band ever, but we also know they're Oysterhead and they're going to fucking play Bonnaroo... I still cant beleive it really....

oysterhead is not daytime....its like "what am i doing to my brain" around 1 in the morning on a saturday...or maybe even friday....but I think that if it were to be daytime....it would just be weird/all most impossible to see during daylight...

You're right, Juggernaut. It wasn't the over-grown business machine, or the drugs, or the lack of practice, or the family issues. It was the glowstick wars.

I am really starting to think Oysterhead is going to play before Petty on Friday.... that was the one major spot I didn't think roo had covered.. and if Trey and Petty are gonna be in Missouri on the 17th a late night slot wouldn't give them that much time to rest up... these guys are old don't forget.
Plus, les's frog brigade had the spot before Panic on Friday during the first Roo', and even though I saw Soulive and The Big Wu before the Frog Brigade, I remember feeling that Les's set was what jump-started the whole weekend... I just remember an "ah, so now it begins" moment...
I think Oysterhead before Petty would make perfect sense because their set would probably be too big to play on the second stage (thats what is usually used for big late night bands) and it would be a great first set of the weekend for a lot of fans and a great way to truly kick off the weekend.
And although the Petty and Trey date for the 17th pisses me off about Trey not being able to play with other artists... we could still witness him rocking out with Petty... which would seriously kick ass, and if we are truly optimistic, Trey could easily make it back to play with Phil on Sunday, although I doubt he'll want to back trek.
