Not only are they touring with Petty, they are also touring with My Morning Jacket and Sonic Youth on the second half of the tour which all three are at Bonnaroo already so i dont see why they wouldnt play at bonnaroo even if they aren't the headliner, it justs makes sense to me.
Their sets are usually LONG. If they did play, it would have to be short, would it even be worth it? I mean sure it's Pearl Jam, but they're live performances are so good because they play so much stuff.
"Man and his deed are two distinct things...a good deed should call forth approbation a a wicked deed disapprobation, the doer of the deed, whether good or wicked, always deserves respect or pity as the case may be. 'Hate the sin and not the sinner' is a precept which, though easy enough to understand, is rarely practicsed (sic), and that is why the poison of hatred spreads in the world." -Ghandi

it also has to do with the tremendous amount of energy pearl jam always seems to have. even if they had 2 hours or even and acoustic set that would last an hour they would kick ass. i hope they get added, but i'm not getting my hopes up that way when they do get added i'll be even more happy
"Previously-announced Pearl Jam and ex-Phish frontman Trey Anastasio will accompany Petty for the first leg of the tour in June, including Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn."

Yeah, if you go to Petty's website, he shows Trey as support until before Bonnaroo. Pearl Jam doesn't show up until about the 23rd. For support of the Bonnaroo date, it shows "too many to list" or something.

IM getting my hopes up again, but I seem to get disspointed alot lately with this kinda stuff.. I cant get them up too high!!!
- i had been resigned to the fact that they wont play..i am seeing them twice in camden at the end of the month, so i wasnt too bummed out (plus the roo sched is getting full) ...but the new album and this thread have gotten me back into "maybe they will play" mode. thanks guys. now i have to come to grips that they wont be playing AGAIN..its like a relapse.
I'll see them in Chicago twice, but I'm hoping for everyone else's sake that they will add. I was hoping for an artist addition today or tomorrow (since the only news about activities was so early this week). I think we will see some sort of addition in the next 7 days.

the pj webcast last night was insane. the new material is great. and apparently so is radiohead's. and, like scooter, they are my two favorite bands. how crazy would it be would have a chance to see your two favorite bands, with good new stuff, still in their prime. plus they both have something to say politically-and similar opinions - which would only add to the electricity.
And for those that said PJ will sell out their shows regardless of any Roo announcement, consider that neither of the Chicago dates coming up are sold out yet, after being on sale for two months now (in fact for the first date, which has sold more tickets than the second, you can still get seats that aren't nosebleeds). So maximizing the potency of these tours is important. The concert industry is really taking a dive.
Anyway... In the next 10 days or so we should get our last artist addition and possibly the schedule. Time will tell, but I think the Pearl Jam announcement is coming...

Just my opinion but Pearl Jam is so NOT going to be added you guys... The headliners are booked and PJ would never play any fest without headlining... They would probably have more of a draw than Radiohead would...
totally true, but speculation passes the time as the days draw near.
I wish i knew radiohead better, they must have hit the scene in the late 90's when i had no cable and no radio, but if u think back, i didn't miss much. But i hear they are great live, and figure there must be a reason for the buzz, so i will be there wide eyed and ready to be amazed.

Lucid- while I appreciate your attempt to burst our bubble, in several threads everyone has pointed out that every year a major announcement has been saved for one of the last artist additions. In some years, even major headliners have been saved, such as Willie Nelson. In fact this year, with Elvis Costello now on Saturday, that could leave Pearl Jam opening for Petty on Friday, just like on their dates together.
And given that we have no idea what Pearl Jam would do festival-wise (they have played many festivals without headlining in their 15 years), there isn't any more or less hope to be had than earlier this Roo-speculation season.
So, if you don't mind, we'd like to light up and daydream.
Pearl Jam's weird bootleg-distribution thingy has sent out a few announcements as of late, including info on the types of bootlegs available (MP3, flac) and that their system will be updated with all the 2006 tour info "in a couple of days." They said this in like, four emails over the last few days (the last ones yesterday). Yesterday late, Pearl Jam announced the Austrailan leg of their tour. It seems like they are expecting the last vestiges of tour dates to be announced in the next 48 hours.
So, part of the speculation... if Pearl Jam will be added to Roo, I imagine it would be announced this week.
