my biggest dissapointment of the weekend was the lineup in the superjam. I always thought the superjam was supposed to provide us with a once-in-a-lifetime jam session? Herbie and ?uestlove is a perfect example of that. correct me if i'm wrong but the superjam was pretty much just G.R.A.B. with a sit in from phil lesh, who they'll be touring all summer. Provided phil sit's in once over the course of the tour, the "superjam" is one that will be repeated at some other venue far from as cool as roo, and i dont know whats so "super" about that. provided they had guys like John Medeski and Claypool on hand, not to mention Buddy Guy, I'd be willing to be superfly could have teamed up something better. They juts got lazy, and thought they could bask in the ray's of having had Radiohead at their festival. now THATS a rant!

I was disappointed with Matisyahu. It was a lot of jamming but not a lot of lyrical performance. And he didn't play any of the songs from either of his CDs that I liked. (And I like a good 15 of them) LOL.

Thats exactly what I have been saying! They could have easily had an announced latenight GRAB set on the second stage, and still had a superjam full of musicians who you don't normally see together.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

When Beck left the stage and played a recording of Loser, he lost a fan. Besides that his show was boring while he was playing, it's insulting to an audience to Milli Vanilli a crowd.

did anybody else notice when he came out in the bear suit he was using a vocal track? half the time the mic wasnt even up to his mouth...
hmmm, I can't say I agree that Bonnaroo giving us a latenight surprise show that turned out to be the debut of Mike Gordon and Trey Anastasio's new quartet is much of a disappointment. I actually thought it was the best thing they have EVER done for Bonnaroo fans like myself. Calling it a superjam was fine with me. You had Trey Anastasio, Marco Benevento, Phil Lesh, Mike Gordon, and Joe Russo, all Bonnaroo Veterans, playing for you. Calling it a SUPERJAM was not off base in the least bit to me.
I understand what you are saying about having a real superjam, but to me, the fact that it was a surprise stealth gig that was also the first gig ever far outweighs the way in which it was billed.
i do hear what your saying about lack of guests at superjam. but did ya listen to it???? it was one of the superest jams i have ever heard!! i dont know how anone on earth could complain about that. id take a late night surprise grab show with phil over any of the other daytime superjams they have ever done. my only complaint is that i had to miss part of it for dr john. couldnt miss that

beck was definitely the biggest disappointment.. I am still kicking myself for not staying at MMW... although I did manage to meet up with my friends for the walk back to camp pre-radiohead by being at Beck
GRAB was alright... but yeah it definitely was not a superjam and they shouldn't have labeled it superjam... that was one of the few errors at Roo this year, the biggest being not having room for the 5-6000 fans that wanted to watch the soccer game
Oysterhead was a slight disappointment for me, but it was cool that they actually reformed. It might be the last time they played, so it was cool being there but there wasn't much of a special feeling to it.
i have to agree. i was worn out. it was hot. shoulda been at night. of course i cant think of a single night show that i would have replaced. maybe if petty would openend for oysterhead and oysterhead coulda had some guests out to fill a headline spot. dont get me wrong i love petty. i just thought his set was short. he came on late. left early. and took 5 minutes between songs. it was definelty a nice change of pace to get to umph/bisco and having them rearrange my univerese for 4 and half hours of the greatest non stop face melting shi.t i have ever witnessed!!!! i dont recall there being even a second of wasted time. not one moment of silence. what a fu.cking show!!!!!!

They said they were going to be touring later this fall.

How in the world could anyone be dissappointed in Saturday Night? I'd have to say Sat. night was the highlight of the entire weekend for me, aside from Oysterhead, which I still can't see people being dissappointed for... oh well, different strokes, I guess.
I was rather dissappointed with Rusted Root, personally... they just didn't have anything there... went and watched Lewis Black instead.. now that was good!
ive heard that rusted root didnt bring it from several people. on the way home we met a 40 something couple at waffle house that came with their daugters and they went specifically to see rusted root and they said they were very disapointed

how on earth was he supposed to be able to sing while he had the bear costume on? the thing covered up his entire mouth, not to mention his entire head.

he was obviously doing it for more of an entertainment aspect than actually singing. i thought the bear suits and the bears fighting were hilarious. the point of the bear suits was to entertain, the same with the puppets, the video, the band eating dinner on stage, etc., etc.
Yea, what about Blues Traveler???? that is the first comment I have seen....were they that bad? I saw them back in the day a few times and they were good.
I saw a very small part of Blues Taveler, and what made their show bad was the sound quality to me. Their sound was terrible, you could barely hear Popper's awesome harmonica or unique voice. That is what makes the band great. Had the sound had been better, I definately would have saw more.
The sound for some of the Troo Music Lounge acts was wretched. Bobby Bare Jr's set was fucked up thanks to a cranky sound guy who was worn out after a day in the tent- you could barely hear Bobby's vocals even after the soundguy made a jerk of himself chastising Bobby over the PA for not doing a "proper sound check" and making him do one (it didn't help, apparently).
i agree about superjam. after G. Love played w/ Popper and then played with MMW like 10 minutes later, i thought they were really going to have something set up.
man, i thought blues traveler effen killed. The Joker w/ G. Love; how was that not awsome to anybody who saw it?
