So on a whim I went to page 77 and dug up this old thread. Is this really a post from the inception of InforRoo as we know it today?? What ever happened to these guys who apparently helped found our beloved board??
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Yep. Good find. The board came out of the bonnaroo listserve, if I'm not mistaken. People would get updates in their inbox with different postings and questions about Roo. It was kinda a pain in the ass. But then again, that's how I found this bored ;D And the rest is history.

^^^I joined up the listserv when it started, I was known as "the piano tuner". A seriously nice group of folks over there, but I could never gel with them... musically, ideologically, whatever. When I started lurking here I saw what I considered to be more insightful and serious discussions about various topics, and a much greater variety of music going around, so I made the switch and basically didn't look back. Plus like others said, the whole listserv format was a huge pain, and doesn't hold a candle to this nice, shiny board with all its bells and whistles. But you're right, Tim, that the listserv is a tighter group. Of course that'll happen when you have a couple dozen regular posters as opposed to several hundred. As for quality of posts, I'll just say... "AAAAAWWWW WE WANT DA FONK!!!!"

This is awesome. I went down a rabbit hole in the Troo Music Lounge found this thread. You know, before Inforoo went mainstream.

Good job, Bunny! This is an awesome thread to dig up! I remember the days of the listserve and what a pain in the butt it was to keep up with! I was so happy when this board popped up!
