If I were making 15 additions to the fest, and trying to please a lot of people:
1. Bob Dylan 2. Arcade Fire 3. The Shins 4. My Morning Jacket 5. The Roots 6. Yonder Mountain String Band 7. Ryan Adams & the Cardinals 8. Robert Randolph & The Family Band 9. Explosions In The Sky 10. M. Ward 11. TV on the Radio 12. Drive-By Truckers 13. Man Man 14. Grizzly Bear 15. Of Montreal
Wow, that list looks perfect. Except I think it would be more sensible to switch out RRFB for The Mars Volta.

Yea, that would work too. I was just trying to put something else in there that appeals mostly to the jam crowd.
There will be more hip hop added on. Realistically I think M Ward, DBT, Robert Randolph, The Shins, and Man Man/Ryan Adams/Of Montreal could be taken off and filled with hip hop performers, with the Mars Volta replacing one other act. Then it would go like...

Looks pretty reasonable to me. Gnarls Barkley could also go in, but they're pretty darn big now, so you'd probably have to take out Arcade Fire or TMV.

Like everyone else has already said, we definetly need MMJ. John Mayer is currently touring and doesn't have any conflicting dates with Bonnaroo. I would love to see him there.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

Bernie Worrell and the Strangers and/or Black Jack Johnson Bad Brains Tack>>Head Secret Chiefs 3 (late night!) Estradasphere Banyan Tabla Beat Science Buckethead Iggy and the Stooges Lou Reed Tom Waits The Good the Bad and the Queen Gorillaz (latenight!) Peeping Tom Gnarls Barkley
George Clinton - Saw him at Schwagstock and they played a latenight set for about five hours. Yo Momma's Big Fat Booty Band Ravi Shankar - He's only 87 KDTU or Greyboy Allstars Das EFX Steve Kimock and Friends Snoop
I think the reason Modest Mouse isn't playing is because they're in Europe, quite possibly for Glastonbury. I know they're playing somewhere in Spain on June 1st, I would guess they just stay in Europe and tour/play festivals from there.
Any form of Les TV on the Radio The Secret Machines (hope!) The Mars Volta My Morning Jacket, even though I've not heard this band...the excitment here about them is enough to make me want to see them!

Nice first post! But I don't think Tabla Beat Science will be reforming any time soon (although Laswell's AXIOM group is almost the same thing, and they would be an awesome addition), and it's been confirmed by Waits' manager that he won't be at Bonnaroo this year.

how killer would that be to get some lou reed, gorillaz and gnarls barkley. karma for the lou reed action
Okay, at risk of losing karma... I saw Mars Volta open for RHCP and they were, in a word, unlistenable. I do not get that band at all - it was like listening to an engine sieze up for an hour.
Anyway, give me:
Arcade Fire Dylan Iggy & the Stooges MMJ Air Gorrillaz Gnarles Barkley Thom Yorke Willie Nelson Sean Lennon (never heard his music, but what the hell, and I think he is on tour) Low Particle Daft Punk Roger Waters

Unlike some here, I do not take karma from someone for stating an honest opinion that differs with mine.
Anyway, from what I read alot of their opening shows for the Peppers were bad. They just lost their drummer (Blake Flemming) who replaced their original drummer (Jon Theodore). The fill in only lasted a few months. Anyway they got a new guy to play (D. Parks), and he was purely a fill in, until they got someone permanent.
Because of this, they were only playing like a 3 or 4 song set during most of the Peppers' tour. Two new album songs, one REALLY long jam (45 minutes or so, which some people loved, but a ton hated), and one brand new song that they were still working on. So, chances are you caught one of these shows. Get some of their albums, and give them a real shot. I would suggest starting with Deloused and just moving forward. Frances is different than anything you have probably ever heard, and to me Amputechture is as close to an arena rock sound as you would ever get from a band like this.
I love this band, but even I was very put off by their sound at first. I had Deloused, and never really got into it. Frances came out, and I saw it for $4.99 so I picked it up. Gave it a few listens and nothing. Then one night my roommates and I were listening to Frances, not talking but really listening, and something just clicked. We all agreed that something amazing was going on with this band, and I haven't looked back since. Greatest band going right now. Oh and they put out albums faster than anyone out there, except maybe Ryan Adams.
Give the albums a chance, and if they're not for you, no loss. But, don't base your opinion of them on an opening spot for the Peppers.

Cedric has said repeatedly that he didn't know how he made-it out on stage during alot of the tour ....and they were going through personell changes, so it really may not have been their best preformances. I didn't see them on that tour so I can't honestly comment but, I have seen them live before and they were absolutely amazing! You should really give them another shot, I think you'll be impressed. They are one of the best bands around today.
