So seriously, this guy is such a friggin good act for Bonnaroo, I can't get over the fact that he's going to be there! Ever since I saw the lineup for Coachella, I knew he HAD to come to Bonnaroo otherwise it wouldn't have been the same...what do you guys think of him? Interested? Obsessed? Loathe?

i LOVE him. hsi new album isn't as good as O but tis still amazing! i really hope he palys rootless tree, its sooo mcuh better live. he's one of a kind
I didn't know about him until I saw him on the Bonnaroo 2004 DVD (AWESOME!!) and have a great respect for his music, attitude and talent. I haven't heard the new CD and I'm saddened that the reviews are weak. I bet he'll put on a great show for us regardless.
EDIT: And he wears a sarong in that DVD ... YUMMY!!!
i'm suprised people don't like his new album, i love O and 9 equally, i think they are both fantastic for different reasons.... and i definitely didn't hear any bad reviews (most people i talk to love it), but then again, i don't really read many music reviews i've been playing 9 obsessively lately!

For me Damien Rice was an artist that I enjoyed on record but really made their mark live. His set in '04 was just incredible. It takes a special performer to bring songs like that to life, and he did.

i'm msot excited for damien rice, i really like nine, 0 is better but tis hard to be better than 0. the sogns on his nw album sound a lot better live also
I have seen Damien twice (once at Roo 04 and last year with Fiona) and he puts on a great show. He will have a 5-6 pieace band and it can get intense at time, so don't let the CD's fool you. He also has been known to improv too.
other than the police and ben harper, he is probably the artist i'm most excited about seeing.
it took me a couple listens to get into the new album, but i think it's pretty solid. and if you're only familiar with his 2 studio albums, he's got some really good b-sides (lonelily, woman like a man, the professor).

To be honest with you, I picked up the Bonnaroo 04 dvd without ever hearing of both Damien and Bonnaroo, after popping it in, I instantly fell in love with Bonnaroo, and after watching Damien's performance of Volcano on the dvd, which, after all the other performances I've seen him do of volcano, is still his best one to date, but after that, I fell in love with his music too....so I have bonnaroo to thank for that. He is an amazing musician too and I want Lisa Hannigan to have my babies!

His 2004 set was my fave from that year. I loved O right away...but 9 took a few more listens to really get into, now I'm just as into it as his first. I'm really looking forward to seeing him there again.

I saw him do this one rendition of Cheers Darlin that was freakin brilliant! He trudged around the stage the whole time singing it and acting drunk, he even chugged about 4 glasses of wine with his bandmates during the song...it was pretty sweet, I hope he does that song at roo, but it's a longshot, he rarely does it live.
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."
I'm definetly excited to see Damien Rice this year. I haven't got a chance to see him before, but I'm catching him before roo in NYC at Radio City. From what I've heard both shows should be pretty amazing.

as long as him and clutch don't play at the same time, my bonnaroo will be perfect. i missed him at 04. i got the 04 bonnaroo dvd and its him and lisa doin' volcano. i shat myself. ive seen him in chitown on the pier with fiona. i was a little upset b/c there was no lisa! i hope she is there with him this year but regardless it will be a phenomenal show.
i can't wait for 'me, my yoke, and i' and 'i remember' live...
