So I've never seen a Ratdog show before, so I'm a bit reluctant to ask, but is it like Lesh where it's primarily Grateful Dead tunes or do they do their own stuff or...?
its mostly dead stuff. they do play some othe stuff. id take phil for sure over bobby but its still a member of the dead. too bad they are likely to play a daytime spot. but ill be there. i expect the 10klf and the vibes will blow the roo show out of the water. but im still excited for ratdog. although it means it will be raining whenever they schedule him. and i love rain in the afternoon. hate it at night. so atleast that will work out for me

I've never gotten into the Bob Weir stuff...anyone want to change my mind with either some studio tracks to check out or some bootleg stuff I should investigate?
i think maybe with the possibility of wsp playing at 8 on thursday like their myspace says leaves an opening on sunday. im still hoping for the phil, bobby, trey, and winwood thing. i think its still a possibility. i know ive got my fingers crossed.
I'm really excited. For god's sake, it's a member of the Dead! having never had the opportunity to seen the GD, any semblance left is really treasured. He's way high up on my list.
I've only seen Ratdog once and that was in Syracuse last year. It was a pretty good show, not one of the more memorable ones I've seen though. But thats probably because I'm really not familiar with much Dead material or Ratdog material. The playing was good and Al from moe. even came out and shredded for a few songs. I'd definitely check them out again.
well it sounds like hes doing well. and the philzone says that he wont be taking the year off. rumors of a tour with ABB in additon to the bob, trey, molo, and winwood rumors. so id say its pretty likely we will see him do something. and how could that not include roo?
and he just did a benefit show last week.

Maybe someone else remembers what Phil said during the '06 show. It was something like "Let's all make a date to meet back here next year." So we know he's gonna be there, tearin' the roof off yet again.

seeing him at gathering of the vibes too, will def be fun
I was thinking about heading to the Vibes this year. Some people I know (I hestitate to use the word friends) go every year and label themselves "hardcore festival goers" even though thats the only one they go to. Pretty lame.
I just need another festival to attend this year. Anything else big-time like Roo is out of the question because Ill be traveling alot this summer. Ill be back from Arizona/Cali for less than a week before I depart for Roo, then home for a week and a half then down south again.
I've never attended the Vibes, but thought about it last year. Is it worth it? What notables are playing this year?

Sad but funny story: I was going to see G Love last October wth my girlfriend and some friends of friends etc. In our car it was me, my girlfriend, and 3 other girls. Two of them we did not know. We got to talking about music and jamband type stuff. So one of the girls we don't know (who were in their early-mid 20's, we are in our 30's) says "so I went to this concert up in NJ, it was this guy named Bob Weir, he's in a band called Ratdog. Ever heard of him?"
My girlfriend and I look at each other, scan the girl for sarcasm, nope, she's serious. We try SOOOO hard not to laugh out loud. Finally my girlfriend bursts. "Um, you are aware we was in the Grateful Dead right!?!"
They did not know. Attended a Ratdog show and never knew Bobby was from the Dead. Wow.

That definetly does sound like a blast. Im gonna see what my funds are and probably order a ticket. Arent they in the $120 range? I just gotta weigh my options finacially. Roo money is the most important money.

^yeah its 125, but its not till august. i def agree roo moeny si the msot important though
Im gonna put some serious thought into it this year. More or less the group of people I know who go turned me off in the past. I know alot of folks out here, the group who usually goes up there is just ok by my standards. Due to past experiences I know Ill get stuck up there babysitting someone who can't handle their "good time". Thats how I am, I can't just say "Yeah!! climbing that 40ft tree is a GOOD idea, later." Maybe if I can coerce some of my better Roo going friends to attend.

I think it is a great line up and will be a blast, but, I don't know, maybe I am alone here, but I just Can Not stand Wavy Gravey...Damn he gets on my nerves!!!
i agree 100 percent. at the vibes he rambles between sets. just non-stop, non-sensical, rambling. it drives me nuts. it was funny for like 30 seconds, then i wanted to jump off a bridge. he sets up an alter with candles and idols and stuff. and he was giving the people setting it up all sorts of crap about how the stuff was in the wrong order. they were pretending to kick him and stab him when he wasnt looking.
