No one has made a thread about these guys yet, but I think they deserve it. They're definitely gonna be one of the top tent bands to catch for me. I've been enjoying their music for a few years now, and I've never seen em, so it should be quite nice

Hell yeah, they're near the top of my list. For me it's Moonlight, Fiction, Girls, Sneaks....but you're right, they are all quality.
Can't wait for the next one, Stroke Their Brains, which I don't think they've set a release date for but should be out soon. I'm pretty sure Brit Daniel has a solo album he's working on too. Not sure what to expect from that.
Got up pretty close to the front at the P4K Fest last year for Spoon, at the consequence of not being able to hear a kick-ass set from Yo La Tengo, and they completely disappointed me. No energy at all. They just stepped out and played their songs exactly like they sounded on record (mostly off of Gimme Fiction and a few from Kill The Moonlight) and walked off. And they didn't even play "The Way We Get By", which was so disappointing. I'll probably skip them if there is any conflict whatsoever.

Agreed, I saw them at Webster Hall in NYC about a month ago and I experienced the same thing. Although, I can't say it was a complete disappointment because I'm such a huge fan, but it did sound as if I was just sitting in my living room listening to their albums. I'll probably go see them again though if there are no scheduling conflicts, since Bonnaroo seems to bring out the best in everybody.
The one time I saw them was dissappointing as well, but I think they were having technical difficulties and could not get the keys to work without a crakling sound. Plus it was a free show where they were the opening band. So I thought that it was a singular bad show, but it sounds like it might not be.
Anyways, I am definitely going to check them out. If they really start sucking it up then I guess I will tent hop, but I am hoping that I dont have to.

I heard similar complaints as those above before I saw them, but it seemed like they were into it and they sounded great. They didn't move around a bunch or anything, but there was good energy between them and the crowd. As far as the songs sounding like they do on the cd, well, I think that's just what we're going to get. IMO, that's not necessarily a bad thing....I love those f'ing songs!

I have seen them a few times and the shows are good. They play the songs, they don't deviate from what the song should be very much. They are a good live band, they can play their tunes well. At Pitchfork last year they did play a few new songs as well as some off Girls Can Tell. If you like Spoon and have never seen them go check it out because they don't tour much.
Saw Spoon last night in Nashville. Their killer tunes sounded great and I was diggin it, but no real stage show otherwise. They don't talk, just play....
i only have gimmie fiction and i really liked it at first, but it got boring after a few listens. if there is nothing better going on i will check them out.
