I hope Jimbo is wrong. When I think of Bonnaroo Les Claypool in any way, shape, or form is one of the first things that pops into my mind. Primus would be great because it would make up for the 1.5 hour set they played last October. However, at this point I could see Les in some kind of super-secret Superjam act.

yea, i've never seen any story about a falling out between Les and Bernie, but I've seen it on this message board before, not sure that it's true
It was all over the Bullboard after the last C2B3 tour. I've posted about it before. The get together at Waka last year was a good sign. I still think its a long shot though. Maybe we'll get Les and Buckethead on the same stage. I'm pretty sure Brain is still doing his GnR bullshit.

Haha, thats actually a sweet idea^. How bout Hancock's Brains...
That might put me back in diapers. As amazing as that would be, there's still no replacement for Bernie in that slot. By no means am I saying he's anywhere near the upper echelon of pianists, but he definitely has a frighteningly unique style. To me, it wouldn't be a C2B3 show without Bernie breaking into some weird, out of key rendition of the Happy Birthday song midway through Tyranny of the Hunt.
Again. I think Les is holding out for a big announcement. I think some folks with "inside knowledge" on the BB are just saying that stuff to keep it a surprise. On the lowest rung of the ladder I expect a Fancy Band announcement. Beyond that I'm looking toward Primus or EA.

Lucky for me I can catch Les the night before Bonnaroo, here in ATL. But what the hell!? Les plays Coparusa and High Sierra but no Roo!? I'm really pissed about this.......F**k you Les!!!

Glad to see you agree with me.
When I go to his show on the 13th (Which in my case is kind of like going to see him at 'Roo, since Bonnaroo is the day after.) I'm going to wait for his ass outside in the parking lot. I won't accost him, but I just have to know. Why play other festivals and not the one that:
Truely loves you the most. Invites you back each year. Has an atomosphere that is on the same level as your music. Doesn't have people getting arrested while you play.
I could go on and on, but I'll just leave it at that. I love Les's music and I will ALWAYS support his stuff. Although Victor IMO is a better bassist, NO ONE can beat Les's stage presence. But besides all that, I'm really pissed about this. I know that he is a big name these days, and he can't respond to everyone's wishes about where/ what he should play, but what the f**k!? You can't put one spot on your tour for the place that always welcomes you.
I won't get over this for a while. But, alas, there's no use crying over spilt Les Claypool. It's not like I don't have a bunch of other great sets to look forward to.

Where's he playing? The last time I saw him it was at The Variety Playhouse and it was pretty f*cking great! Since that evil bastard is dissing us Bonnaroovians (?), I'll have to catch him here.

That is a possibility, but I'm pretty sure he is invited back each year. He is somewhat of a return artist at 'Roo, and has said it himself that he loves playing Bonnaroo. It's possible, but I really doubt that's the case. I'm going to look into that, though. I'm guessing that since his schedule is so busy he would end up playing a bunch of shows back to back if he played 'Roo. But I don't know. I'm going to do some research.

^Yeah, that sounds cool. My gf doesn't really seem like she wants to go see Les, sleep a couple of hours, then drive to Roo. I'm going regardless but, if you want to meet-up beforehand, just pm me.

^ Cool. My birthday is May 16th, so I'm going to request Page and Les tickets. If you really want her to go, maybe Page would suit you both better. Either way I'll be at both, so I'll pm you later this month or early May.

^VERY TRUE! Did you see him last year (july, i think) at the Playhouse? It was incredible! My gf bought me tickets (and many beers) since we missed him at Roo. She's nice!

Well Trey's usually a shoe-in, but he isn't on the list either. It'd be super-sweet if Les pulled a Trey this year and caught a flight in for superjam.

I was actually looking at schools in Charleston. But I caught the first five songs of his set at Bonnaroo. It was sick. He busted out an insane solo during Rumble of the Diesel. I heard the show sold out last year. That's why my friends couldn't go.

He'll be in Atlanta the 13th. He's only a couple hours away to play a set on Thursday.

That would make for a pretty good start too Roo if he came for the Thursday shows and brought two gallants with him. I think that would be wishful thinking thought....sadly.

You never know. Chances are he won't be there and you'll have to catch him on his tour, but Superfly and AC have been known to pull some great acts/ additions out of nowhere.

Well I believe that a Thursday night set would be in the cards. A recent collaboration of another artist who will be playing roo is Tom Morello "Night Watchman". They got together last month in Austin for the SXSW. Here is a little show review from Jambands.com.( Claypool performed with Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello at Austin’s the Parish. Though billed as a solo gig under his Nightwatchman alias, Morello used his showcase to host a jam-session of sorts, featuring appearances from such marquee names as Slash, the MC5’s Wayne Kramer, and Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt. Perry Farrell also led Morello, Slash, and Bettencourt through versions of Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song” and “Ain’t No Right.” At the end of the night Claypool emerged, jamming with Morello on a set-closing cover of Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land.” )
Now that could definitely happen at roo also........
