Yeah, this song has probably tripled my already high hopes for the new album. Thanks for the lyrics and that's a pretty awesome avatar zdlr, is it new or have I been not paying enough attention.

Oh yeh, well I will change my sig back to that after I rock the Mims sig for a while . My desktop background is similar to my Meg White sig though, it is pretty much amazing.
and Meg is playing pretty good drums...also, Jack said they positioned mics differently for her during the recording than they have on any other album.

On another note Icky Thump is really good. I was worried that Jack might go the way of other musicians recently and release a more mainstream CD, but it seems like he did just the opposite.
A friend of mine who is all into old-school video games swears that the intro to icky thump is from some game called "Pole Position". I don't touch video games so I wouldn't know the difference (OK, so I tried Guitar Hero once and was so bad I doubt I'll ever do it again, I kept wanting to keep all the buttons pushed all the time.... ) Any video game gurus out there know what the heck he's talking about???

Icky Thump was played at the end of the nascar race yesterday during their music montage with all the crashes and highlights.... it sounded good and you got to see sweet wrecks haha.

Any word on pre-ordering the magazine? I've been looking at the nme website every day without much word and none of my local stores carry it, that I'm aware of.

I have not heard anything yet, I check NME daily but that sites a cluttered mess. I don't think it will be too quiet when they announce how to order one. I'm sure a few blogs will pick it up. I'll be sure to post anything when I find out.
you could always pay .99 on i tunes that might break our banks though. that is where I got it . i bought it on an installment plan. 60 days same as cash.

i bought "icky Thump" on iTunes. it was MY FIRST TIME purchasing a single online!!! and it was worth it. i LOVE the song. that organ sound is wicked and Jack sings like never before.

This song and the three other new songs they did in Nashville were absolutely amazing live. However, the synth doesn't sound quite as cool in person...but Jack was alternating between the synth and the guitar. After hearing the new stuff live, I cannot wait to get the album. It can be preordered from iTunes now with two bonus tracks.
P.S. I also wouldn't be surprised if they played their cover of "Tennessee Border" again. Every time Jack sang the word "Tennessee" the crowd went nuts.
