I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations for who to check out early on Friday and Saturday. On Friday there is no one that I really know until Hot Chip at 4, and on Saturday Ziggy at 3:15.
So if anyone has some recommendations about the bands playing earlier on those two days I would greatly appreciate it.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

Old Crow and Railroad Earth were on my must see list with OCMS being tops. Thank GOD Old Crow is playing Norfolk on Wednesday, Jun 20. I'll pass them at 'roo and dedicate my time to the Railroad.

glad to see all of the OCMS love. Thought i was a minority, that is going to be an awesome show. jame blood ulmer and richard thompson band for friday is where i'll be in the early noon
Tortoise and OCMS will be where I am. I'm a little wary of Tortoise live in the middle of the day though, a little afraid they'll be boring live...though I guess the fact that all you folks are all excited to see them tells me they must not be.
OCMS is my MUST of this years 'roo. Even though I'm seeing them again in July at Masters Musicians Festival, they are not a band to be missed. Anyone have any suggestions for Thursday other than David Cross and Rodrigo y Gabriela?

The National and TLG. I'm not huge on the latter, but all my friends I'm going with love them and I gotta say that they are talented musicians - they'll surely be high energy that late at night too.
