Sorry if this was posted earlier, I didn't see it on the board, but it is flying today....
Of all the things to get excited about, the decision to go back to the 04/05 format of the Which Stage going Late Night is the best thing this schedule brings us, in my opinion. Not only is it being used Saturday night (like before), but both nights, for the 2 biggest shows of the late night on each night. That, in and of itself, is very good news. This will open up the tents alot more so they aren't jampacked ala the superjam last year!!
Flaming Lips on the big stage in the night should be epic to say the least!

So you can see the stages pretty well then from a distance, that helps ease my mind a bit. Is it really hard to see the artists in the tents from a distance, and what would you say is the furthest back you can be and still get a good feel of what is going on up on the stage?

So you can see the stages pretty well then from a distance, that helps ease my mind a bit. Is it really hard to see the artists in the tents from a distance, and what would you say is the furthest back you can be and still get a good feel of what is going on up on the stage?
Last year I hung out toward the back of Stephen Malkmus, Ramble Dove, Bill Frisell and completely had a feel for what was going on and the sound was fine. If I wanted to get close, I could get closer than halfway to the stage from the back while the show was going on so really, it wasn't that big of an issue for me.
I know I'm in the minority, but for some reason, I can't stand SCI's vocals... Really off key, and well... just not for me. But I hope those who love 'em have a great time at the show!

I'm still very scared of the HUGE Lips crowd packed into the Which Stage area, but you all are so right... seeing that spectacle on an outdoor stage will just be unreal. Dammit, I can't wait!!
It does. IT has an awesome zoom. I went up there last year, and got my best shots of the festival at Bright Eyes and Brothers Past (plus a few others) with the same camera. B/c I was so high up I was able to take in everything and zoom in really close. Down on the ground you are shooting over heads, it can make for strenuous shots. UP in the stands you can pan in and pan out, not worry about what is in front of you. I'll probably shoot the entire show actually, should be a spectacle to behold. I plan on shooting alot of Tool from the bleachers as well, but that is a different stage.
I'm glad that The Lips have the Which Stage this year, because I've never seen them before. But I'm gonna have to skip SCI on Friday. I've got a hard enough time trying to make it between Ravi Coltrane and STS9...
yeah. im definately most psyched for the cheese and the flips. both must sees. definately getting to cheese early. that is a must. and the flips as well. it is gonna be nuts though.
Uhhhhh...... sorry, Police.... seems like I'm gonna have to basically camp out in front of the Which stage hours before the show... this is gonna be nuts.
Karma for that vid link! That's gotta be one of the most insane stage shows I've ever seen! I hope that Roo's is like that! I gotta be there for it. Wow.

those are smaller acts though. at the superjam last year, if you didnt get there early, you were stuck way in the back.
Chalck me up as another that will leave tool early to camp for SCI...they are the band I am at Roo to see this year. Flips is going to be wild too...will probably have to leave Police a bit early for them too...but then I may have to make a decision as to how much Gov't Mule i'll wanna see too.
