i guess they are kind of stuck with wsp. cause they won't put them on a smaller stage. so it's either have them headline or don't ask them back at all.
I agree with Pearl Jam. Eddie Vetter is one of the best performers I've ever seen, and I also think they would "get" Bonnaroo. My only gripe with them is that when I saw them last, they sold a specific amount of tickets JUST to their fanclub, there was no other way to get the tickets....they were the ones that were closest to the front and dead center. I wonder if that would become a problem?

I am glad Bonnaroo is branching out, personally!

Police did the same thing this year with two different levels of presales. BestBuy reward zone members got 1st crack at the great seats then Police official fanclub members got 2nd crack at really good seats and then whatever was left over went to Ticketmaster for general sale.
Of course, Ticketbastard actually auctioned off most of the absolute best seats for $700-$1000 per seat through their new auction system.
Of course, at Bonnaroo you didn't have to mess with any of that nonsense.
Oh, and don't hate on Stewart Copeland for all this. Apparently Sting's management is running the whole thing and basically raping the fans and completely ignoring everything Stewart and Andy have to say. Looks like it's going badly between them from all reports. Largely because Sting is such an ass.
I can't wait until they split up and Copeland goes back to doing really cool projects like Oysterhead.
Oh and it looks like my WSP comment earned me a might smite. Weeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on, they should be moved to latenight slot on 2nd stage. They can't muster anywhere near the crowd that White Stripes or Flaming Lips had.
But I've heard voices not in the head Out in the air they called ahead Through ripped out speakers Through thick and thin They found a shelter Under my skin -Evgeny Aleksandrovitch Nikolaev
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

pearl jam only does that for arena shows that they are headling/co-headlining. every time i've bought tix for the 10 club its been to these types of shows. plus for bonnaroo its a much larger mix of bands, where i'm sure pearl jam would be happy to just play.
Honestly, I think a Blind Faith is more likely than Cream because the guys in that group still get along to a certain degree. I don't think either Clapton or Baker like Jack very much at all...
Oh..I thought of another headlining possibility. It's one that actually gets me really excited: Sly & The Family Stone. Sly's been mobilizing lately, doing shows overseas. The Family Stone still tours and has openly expressed a desire to reunite in the past. It's in the cards and I would love to see it go down at Bonnaroo more than any dinorockers. It's about time Bonnaroo was infused with some soul/funk.

Now, don't get me wrong, I do like Sly and the Family Stone, but I recall seeing them in 1970, so I think that def puts them in the class of "dino" rockers, just a different genre than the Clapton based groups, although blues were at the root of both of them.
I just still can't get over thinking of that "Clapton is God" graffitti when it comes to the electric blues guitar and his songs that touch my spirit.
I guess my number one pick for Bonnaroo 08 is Clapton. He can play with anyone and it is magic,

Thursday: MMJ w/ the Pops! Friday: Neil Young (in any form, With Crazy Horse, CSN, Pearl Jam, whatever) Saturday: Radiohead, Bjork, Flips, Tool (insert your own kickass band) Sunday: Roger Waters
w/ latenights by Primus, Mule, Trey, Flips, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, The Faint, Underworld, Fatboy Slim, and overal kickassery should ensue
I have no idea what days for each but... The Flaming Lips Radiohead Pink Floyd
Since two of those have already played, for something fresh and new and with regards to how 'Roo typically arranges the headliners, I'd say
Friday: Prince/Bjork/Pearl Jam/MUSE (something a little "out of the box" for roo) Saturday: Pink Floyd/Led Zepplin (blow-you-away, everybody will be there, amazing show and to follow along with the reunion trend) Sunday: Willie Nelson/Bob Dylan (something a little more relaxed)
im really hoping for radiohead to come back but i highly doubt they would bring them back so soon. hopefully they'll release the new cd some time soon and tour
