On Sunday this year I saw a lot of unusual for Bonnaroo performers, such as Charlie Louvin, Ralph Stanley, and Ornette Coleman.
Who would you like to see next year that isn't in the Bonnaroo mold?
I've got some suggestions. Los Hombres Calientes, Anyone whose last name is Marsalis, Gwar, Delbert McClinton, The Guitar Trio(Al DiMeola, John Mclaughlin, Paco De Lucea), Al Green.

MUSE... they are one of the best, if not the best live band out right now. Very good stuff!
would also love to see COHEED AND CAMBRIA... i happen to love their weird space war storyline that is spread out across all their albums, and they put on a killer show.

also, PANIC! AT THE DISCO.... before you roast me, go see them live. They had the LucEnt dosSieR Vaudeville Cirque! travelling with them when i took my girlfriend to see them last year. It was one of the best stage shows i'd ever seen and they were excellent live. They played AWESOME renditions of "Tonight, Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins and "Karma Police" by Radiohead. None of the 14 year old girls there knew those songs, but let me assure you that they were a quality live act that doesn't necessarily fit the bonnaroo mold.

lmao One of the few bands that could alienate Bonnaroo regulars and signify a downward spiral for the event as a whole. Great idea!

3 Words... TOM FRIGGIN' JONES, maybe in an airconditioned Lounge themed tent... oh, and Dick Cheese could play in there too... now that is something I actually WOULD wait in line for at Roo!!!

It sounds to me like you don't get it either. The thing that sets Bonnaroo apart from other festivals is the extreme diversity of the lineup. Nobody is going to like every band that's playing. But open-minded music fans can seize the opportunity to discover something new.

lmao Do get offended. I don't make you listen to, or defend un-listenable, indefensible music. But that was a great comeback...I'm sure Bonnaroo is withdrawing my invitation as we speak! lol
i don't agree that incubus could ruin bonnaroo. but i do think that a band(s) could. panic at the disco for example. when they start booking bands like that for bonnaroo, it's over. i don't think they have went too far yet. sure they have had some more commerical acts, but they have been respectable ones. incubus would fit in nicely.

Since I have no idea what Panic! at the Disco sounds like, I can't comment, but I'm happy to check them out next week at Virgin... then I can form an informed opinion on this apparently horrific musical act... i will be the judge of that. Either way, I really don't care who plays Roo, in my mind EVERYONE plays Roo and I wouldn't have it any other way... maybe I'm part of the problem

Not part of the problem. It's a matter of opinion. It would be difficult to get 80,000 to TN for an underground/indie-type gathering. In that respect, perhaps my standards are unreasonable. Bonnaroo is among the most popular festivals because(unfortunately) it's the most POP. Just the way it is. And popular bands aren't bad per se. The White Stripes are popular and they are cutting edge, credible in their motives, and respected. But keep in mind, they were supported by fans of progressive/underground music for 8 years before the masses caught on. This point is the kernel of my argument. I, for one, would prefer to witness bands creating something special as it happens. Not after the fact. Some of the bands I have seen suggested for Bonnaroo have been groomed by record labels to sell records at any artistic cost. Those kind of "artists"(lol) also sell a lot of tickets to fans who couldn't possibly understand anything creative. But that's none of you....
I have not read through the whole thing but would love to see at 'roo

btw - I do like PATD but I would not want to see them at 'roo - anymore then I wanted to see The White Stripes, Wolfmother or Clutch at 'roo <<<bands that I like - just not interested in seeing them in the 'roo atmosphere

I know these are all just opinions, but The Stripes, Wolfmother, and Clutch don't work in the atmosphere, but Lincoln Park does??? ???
