I was unaware that Lucinda Williams, Buddahead and Mix Master Mike have played past Bonnaroo's...guess I didn't research close enough...sorry about that...

Mix Master Mike, Lucinda Williams & Buddahead all played in 2003.
But when you type in their names, their "information" doesn't come up, i wonder if they just cleared the info so it wouldn't take as much space on their server... hmmm. Looks like any band that isn't a big repeating performer has been cleared pre-2006
^you mean you are just typing like bonnaroo.com/willie-nelson into your address bar? I tried that with a bunch of bands and it just refreshes back to the original bonnaroo page... maybe im doing it wrong? I don't see any "news"?
no you aren't doing it wrong, you just aren't understanding fully...
it DOES go back to the "home page"... but if our line of thought is correct, it is just a copy of the home page. If you type Led-Zeppelin... and you look at the news in the middle of the page... look what happens... it is no longer an updated homepage... instead the latest news is back from November "AT&T blue room Vegoose Webcast".
you catch our drift now? Therefore i believe that when the band was signed the created a webpage www.bonnaroo.com/led-zeppelin and copied the home content from the webpage AT THAT TIME... soon if they are headlining, that info will be replaced by actual artist info like www.bonnaroo.com/radiohead has.
i get it now... wow, that's nifty! i would have never noticed anything like that. good job guys!!!

And also if you type in either Jack Johnson or My Morning Jacket, the site no longer gives you their old pages, but gives you the home page with AT&T up top.
I also tried Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and got nothing. I tried the proper spelling: www.bonnaroo.com/robert-plant-alison-krauss And the common misspelling: www.bonnaroo.com/robert-plant-allison-krauss and both bounced back. So, that might mean that are not actually going to be there, or it could mean that they have not made fake pages for all the artists they've booked thus far.

Yes, I think if there isn't a page it doesn't necessarily exclude them. But, it's interesting to note that www.bonnaroo.com/jackjohnson will bounce you to the home page with the original bonnaroo dates announced, and the jack-johnson page is clear. Also, www.bonnaroo.com/mymorningjacket gives you a prior home page.
Umphreys-mcgee, Les-Claypool, The-Word, Leftover-Salmon, and Yonder-mountain-string-band also bring up clear artist pages.
Putting a kink in our theory... so does the String Cheese Incident.

while my theory seemed a little odd to me that certain artist names bring up certain pages, it could all very well mean nothing, i'm just trying to hack my way into their site hoping to find something, this wait is really killing me

does anyone ever get relix magazine here? i signed up last year at roo, and while it is a music magazine, it seems like there is usually a band on the cover that has played at bonnaroo, which makes me think some bands on the cover that haven't played may play in the future, for example, the beastie boys...
Post by BrokenLight on Jan 16, 2008 17:00:21 GMT -5
I made a list of bands as I was looking through my Relix magazine collection. I'm just throwing out some ideas for some bands that could possibly play Bonnaroo or any of the other handful of festivals here in the states. Most of the bands I found seemed to be smaller bands, but I just thought I'd share this info for those who don't get Relix Magazine, and so others can expand their musical tastes. I got this info from only 6 magazines. Any questions, just hit me up. Here are the lists:
Bands mentioned that have played Bonnaroo:
Trey Anastasio Black Crowes Mars Volta Ween Les Claypool Keller Williams Jack Johnson Matt Costa Yo La Tengo North Miss. Allstars Tea Leaf Green Burning Spear The Whigs Salvador Santana Band moe. Will Hoge Mike Doughty Ryan Montbleau Band Grayson Capps Marah New Monsoon JJ Grey and Mofro Toots and the Maytals White Stripes The Cat Empire Edgar Meyer (played with Bela Fleck) Heartless Bastards Josh Ritter David Murray and the Black Saint Quartet Rilo Kiley Old Union Lionel Loueke
Bands that have not played Bonnaroo:
Led Zeppelin Eric Clapton, also a section on the Crossroads Festival last year Moby The Eagles Dolly Parton Loudon Wainwright III Joe Bonamassa State Radio Porter Batiste Stoltz Beastie Boys Andrew Tosh, son of Peter Tosh Pegi Young Os Mutantes Laura Reed and Deep Pocket Sly and the Family Stone Stevie Wonder Dinosaur Jr. Bonerama Eric Lindell Mick Jones of the Clash The Beautiful Girls Cryptacize Aphrodesia Dengue Fever Joe Jackson The 17th Pygmy Tift Merritt Goldfrapp Otis Taylor Maceo Parker Dub Trio Pete Pidgeon and Arcoda The Heavy Circles BellX1 Delta Nove Zox Rogue Wave Cafe Tacvba Dispatch Public Enemy Leftover Salmon (not really sure if they have played Bonnaroo, but I think its possible they did) George Porter Jr. of the Meters Amfibian - Tom Marshall (Phish lyricist) The Breeders - Kim Deal of the Pixies Filter The Afghan Whigs (from my hometown Cincinnati) Oliver Mtukudzi THe Harlem House Band Robben Ford Hoots and Hellmouth Pinback Zap Mama Joe Henry Floratone Black Francis Popa Chubby Thurston Moore (of course Sonic Youth played in 06) Grand National (not the John Butler Trio album, this is infact a bandname) Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings Sarah Gazarek The Subdudes KT Tunstall Okkervil River Mexican Institute of Sound Jesse Harris Sir Richard Bishop The Sadies Sea Wolf Earlimart Merle Haggard (is he still alive?) Nathaniel Mayer Anoushka Shankar and Karsh Kale (that is the daughter of Ravi Shankar) Chris and Thomas Jose Gonzalez (not sure if he's played roo, but I know he played ACL in 06) Fionn Regan
On the Verge (Relix has a section of bands that are on the verge of making big)
Caribou Thao Nguyen Year Long Disaster Yeasayer Scot Albert Johnson Eilen Jewell Oneside William Elliot Whitmore Rock Plaza Central Sketches for Albinos Jan Smith Hari Honzu Girlyman Blue Turtle Seduction Dark Meat The Trucks Jake Shimabukuro The Kooks Exit Clov Casper and the Cookies
Sampler CD's (they also give away a free cd with each copy, usually about 20 songs)
Black Crowes Ween Bonerama Virginia Coalition Soul Summit Laura Reed and Deep Pocket Mojack Greg Ginn and the Taylor Texas Corrugators James Sudakow Keith ARC Gone Live Society Drive-By Truckers Redux Suzanne Vega Future Rock Galactic TieDye Keith Grace Potter and the Nocturnals Delta Moon Betty LaVette Warm in the Wake Barry Richman Kinetix Great Caesar's Ghost Dave Easley Adrian Bourgeouis Phish BuzzUniverse String Cheese Incident Amfibian The Frames New Monsoon Foxy Moon Baby Steep Canyon Rangers Bedouin Soundclash Farm Vegas Push King Bee 3 Plushgun Dinousaur Jr. Seth Winters Page McConnell The Mother Hips Old Union Cary Brothers Papa Mali Gangly Moose MWC The Nate LaPointe Band Stratospheerius American Babies Ryan Adams ZEGG
and I lied...I said at the beginning it was from 6 Relix Magazine issues... I got tired after only 2 issues...I do have 6 issues but I just couldn't do it anymore...except for the CD Sampler part, that is from 4 issues...hope this info means something to someone other than me...

Why don't we try this with band we KNOW will not be at bonnaroo but have played bonnaroo's past to see if it does it with them? This might disprove our theory. I can't do it right now (not at my comp) but try it with Radiohead or something.
This whole html thing is kinda strange, but my gut is telling me this might mean something. so far we've got:
Led Zeppelin Phish Pearl Jam Metallica Neil Young Daft Punk Jack Johnson The Roots B.B. King My Morning Jacket Les Claypool Pat Green
imo Led Zeppelin, Phish, and Pearl Jam all sound too good to be true for headliners. Unless this is the year Superfly decides to spoil us...? Bonnaroo is getting some competition with all these new festies popping up everywhere, ya know?

you can't really test it for radiohead, because they already have a page dedicated to them. The "trick" seems to work for 2 worded names if you remove the hyphen as well though. But radiohead is only one word, so we can't really tell.
These "trick" does not work for these bands and I'm pretty sure most of them will not be there

it seems as if bands from the past year and really big headliners are still maintaining their pages... just fyi
that's what me and attornaroo were trying to explain though...
obviously many of the bands already have pages because they played at bonnaroo... they still have their own pages up.
but if you take the hyphenation out of some of the bands, they also go to an earlier news... which would go along with the theory that those pages were also made when those news headlines were released. do you get what i'm saying?
