The third best selling artist of all time playing the first show in the u.s. in 28 years.. and tickets are available to the general public at first come first serve.. Sounds pretty unprecedented to me..
Could the bonnarootickets.com website even handle that?! Zeppelin has ALWAYS been mysterious.. since day 1.. They also like to play with the media.. As do Bonnaroo promoters.
John Paul Jones being announced at the last minute shows how unpredictable the festival can be.
I'm not saying Plant & Krauss would lose all their fan base.. I'm saying Plant & Krauss cover Zeppelin classics. many ticket buyers are Led Zeppelin fans.. and would much rather see a Zep show. ticket sales would go down.
I didn't say budgeted lineup.. I said budgeted headliners.. Both headliners this year make millions less per show than the headliners of last year.
You're not posting anything to disprove me.. You're posting a differing opinion. I am simply posting what I've gathered off of this forum.. and reasons why I BELIEVE zep could play bonnaroo. Not reasons why Zep WILL FOR A FACT play bonnaroo. No need to kill optimism man.

OK... to counter my buzzkill, I'll give you what I would consider to be healthy signs of the impending Zepocalypse:
Zep rehearsed for a good month prior to O2.... if they're doing Bonnaroo, expect someone to leak that they're all together in a studio somewhere (my guess would be Nashville), probably around May.
Expect national TV spots for in some capacity - either from Bonnaroo's promoters, or (most likely) sponsorship partners - again, no later than May. If Budwiser's gonna pony up some extra green this year, they're gonna milk it for all it's worth (even if they're 'sworn to secrecy' until the first day of the festival).
Expect industry insiders like Bob Lefsetz to offer more substantial sources of rumors (the last one was from an anonymous letter).
Expect Harvy Goldsmith (promoter of the O2 gig) to start chatting about Zeppelin in some capacity. If he's vague, but upbeat, he's in on the deal. If he's talking crap about a reunion, then they went with someone else . If he's quiet... it ain't happening.

That may be, but my opinion is backed by documented facts and statements.
No need to kill optimism man.
I'm just trying to provide information and a logical counterpoint. There's far too much rumormongering going on with this show... I get a nasty feeling that there's going to be a lot of disappointed people come Sunday night feeling they got ripped off because Zep didn't appear. As long as people understand that the rumors are, quite possibly, unfounded, and are prepared to enjoy the rest of the festival anyway, more power to 'em. But just talking about a reunion show as if it's a done deal does more harm than good, IMHO.
I really don't recall so many music industry people talking about something this big and it not panning out. You can't keep a lid on these things, you can only deny.

^^^See, right there, what you're doing it making an assumption, then seeing how the facts could line up with it. You're not evaluating the facts first and then seeing what conclusion you can draw from it.
And even more to stoke the fires two hours before tickets go on sale...
On the official Zep message board, a guy posts there who has in the past provided some pretty good info. He may even have a radio show in CA. Anyway, he just posted this which sounds very interesting...
Jimmy Page was allegedly spotted recently at the Overtone Music Cave located at 29/70-72 Royal City Avenue, one of Bangkok's premier jazz venues which opened last July.
Jimmy allegedly told bemused fans he was taking time out before heading back to help master the recent London Ertegun reunion gig audio. For disappointed fans who missed him this time around, he reckons he'll be back in Bangkok in a couple of months.

Why do we have to see the same unfounded theories over and over again? As long as people keep pushing fantasy, I see nothing wrong with pushing fact.
what's unfounded about metallica denying they were playing Roo? just google "metallica denies bonnaroo". you'll get multiple articles, one of them written about 2 months before the lineup actually came out.
Heres to hoping its true. I still got a little bit of faith in some form of Zep. I know its a big, huge stretch, but you never know. I'll be without them and ecstatic with them.
I'll be purchasing tickets no matter what, and that would be the best 1st Roo I could imagine..

There will be no tv spots by the way.. same amount of tickets are being sold.. why would they advertise bonnaroo for led zeppelin? Led Zeppelin IS bonnaroo's advertisment.
im sure this is because they are about to start selling tickets but i can't access bonnaroo's main page anymore. but im going to go ahead and get my hopes up and tell myself that they're adding zeppelin right now.
i know. i know.....quit yelling at me. don't ruin my dream.
and while im dreaming im going to go ahead and predict that they'll have me playing guitar with zeppelin too.

so, first tier tickets sold out in about 4-5 minutes, with second tier selling out minutes later
either there was a MUCH larger rush for bonnaroo tickets this year, or they're wanting to sell more of the highest price tickets to cover the cost of say, a certain band to do their first show of a world reunion tour at bonnaroo...
But then again IF (I am no way a scalper or support them) I was a scalper and HEARD the rumors, I'd also buy as many tickets as possible and feed off the rumors.
i think the first tier sold in less than 2 minutes. i got first tier and my fiance got 2nd tier and she was pulling up the website when i was filling out my info.
"now COME ON ZEPPELIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!........$hit fire, bo!" *shouting in my tennessee accent*

im amazed this rumor has endured despite the lineup and no additions around time of ticket sales. its fucking relentless, everyone is still convinced theyre gonna be there. maybe im missing something, but im just not expecting it.

I HOPE you're missing something. I'm firmly in the "there is no way they'd announce Zep prior to tickets going on sale camp." Could be wishful thinking and it isn't factual or concrete, but it's what I want to believe. ;D
