I fully respect those who truly go to Bonnaroo not for the headliners but the smaller acts, but that doesn't mean that those who care about the headliners are wrong for doing so. I love ya, korvette, but that's a little dogmatic. The headliners are important, the smaller acts are important, as are the great attendees, the vibe, the weather and the surprises. I'd only worry about people who go to Bonnaroo just to play in the mud...

Its ok .. Steve..like i posted ..IMO..I'm known to be wrong,(just ask my girlfriend)..And to me I would not ''not go to Roo" because there was a headliner that i did not like .. there is SO much more to do , and see .people watching is awsome and i dont know about you .. but last yr i saw a sea of "BOOBIES... and my girl dont get mad if i look .. so the music is great on the ears , the sights are easy on the eyes , and the mist tents keep you cool... whats not to go back for ?
Its not the 50-60 yo men (what, women don't like LZ?) I'm worried about. They will all be in VIP teaching you younguns how to party!
Clearly LZ attracts a crowd of all ages (as evidenced by the number of posts on this board) and having such a huge act at Bonnaroo in the absence of other tour dates (Police toured all over the country and the old farts could see them elsewhere) will be ....
Did anyone see the Cadillac commercial with Rock And Roll from Led Zep a few years back?
When i saw that, I knew Zep would tour within the next 5 years. These guys don't make the record sale money anymore. They would be INSANE to pass up the influx of cash, and to go out on top.

They will tour.
Rock star lifestyle require Rock Star Dollars .. I doubt they are broke , but hey who knows , Bad investments , drug habits, divorce, there are alot of ways of going broke ...
I def agree. But I am not going to make the same mistake as I did with the Police....I will make sure to go see LZ at their own venue, and then see them again at Bonnaroo. I want to be sure to get a full set and not an abridged festival set.
The Police played the same set at Roo that they did the rest of the country. The headliners have over 3 hours. Why would Zeppelin play a shorter show at Roo? Isn't that one of the main points of Roo?
I have the complete opposite view. I would MUCH rather see them at a setting like Roo rather than an over-priced stadium where I can't hear a thing anyway.

You like how they did that ...I kinda thought that about Zep doing the same thing if they played. And the Police were not involved with any other acts (JPJ jammed with other act's and superjam.. Sting did not play with anyone else ,He played his set and got in a copter and jumped on a jet..

naw dude... it was a bus. A kick-ass bus. I saw it. I was behind the stage after that set and saw the back of Sting's head in the window. I swear to gawd.... and the 80's girl in me thinks that's cool

to be fair, i dont think we can compare how The Police performed to how LZ will perform to how Radiohead performed..etc etc..everyone would do it a bit differently dont you think?

Three different news Vehicles have reported yesterday that Zep is kicking off their North American Tour with Bonnaroo.
Personally folks, and please don't Stone me for this, but I'm not impressed at all. For someone who will go to see MMJ, or John Butler, or hopefully Joseph Arthur, c'mon, will I have to sit on the internet 10 minutes before the ticket sales just to secure my spot for 08? I don't want that. But I did like someone's analogy on page 2 where they gave 4 answers to the probability of Zep at Roo. Superfly I don't think would announce it before tickets go on sale. Thats what I hope anyways. When a rumour gets out like this one of such magnitude, do you think sometimes or somehow Superfly could be behind it? It would boost their sales........ Or am I just being a Scinic?
1) Superfly announces lineup minus Led Zeppelin 2) Tickets go on sale for bonnaroo 3) at least a week passes 4) Led Zeppelin announces tour officially and includes Bonnaroo
This would allow those folks who'd be much more comfortable at a show near their hometown to go to that show. Tickets wouldn't slambamsellout for Roo before folks who want to go for other bands or for the fest itself have a chance to buy them.
And the Police were not involved with any other acts (JPJ jammed with other act's and superjam.. Sting did not play with anyone else ,He played his set and got in a copter and jumped on a jet..
To be fair, The Police came in from Las Vegas on the same day, interrupting the West Coast leg of their tour. They got off a plane, boarded a bus, played, got back on and flew off. Fiction Plane couldn't even make it to their Roo slot due to plane issues. I would like to think that Stewart would have hopped around a bit if he could with other bands, maybe even Andy too (who knows JPJ).

It would definetely increase buzz, which it definetely has. I wouldnt be surprised if Superfly had a hand in it, but I doubt it. My hope is that if they announce Zep is playing before tickets go one sale, Zep announces that they are going on a full fledged tour.

Wooz..I agree that would be sweet..but you'd have to admit that the initial lineup would look a little awkward and suspicious
The headliners would be like MMJ and DMB ...leaving a huge hole IMO and between the rumors, speculation and obvious lack of 3rd headliner, people might put 2 and 2 toghether

Ive heard that Sting drinks the blood of an Irish virgin mixed with a thimble full of kerosene while horseback riding before he plays a show.

I really don't care if the lineup looks suspicious because a headliner is missing. Would you? You and I would know EXACTLY what it meant! The point of doing it in that order would be to give people who want to see the rest of the bands a chance to order their tickets. It would also slow the sellout because folks in other cities wouldn't rush to roo when they could see Zep at home.
The fest WOULD still sell out, superfly wouldn't lose money..

And we will still be there online with card in hand to buy ticket with or without a headliner..
I really doubt Superfly is THAT concerned with past guests getting their tickets first. Again, they are a business and getting an act like Zeppelin is for financial reasons over anything else.
They can raise prices with a band like Zepp and it puts the festival on another plane as far as world wide popularity. Believe me, Zepp is the motherload for Superfly.
And the "sellout" thing. They can say "sellout" whenever they want to really.

I'm all for the wink and nudge for loyal fans...i don't see that happening because of things like the internet and word of mouth....there's no way they can keep a lid on LZ..impossible.
Now....I think the more realistic solution is to make tickets available first by invites to previous attendees...i'm not sure how that will work...but that would be fair..
I can see superfly selling tickets before announcing any lineup (cough, earlybirds) ..that would also be fair.

I'm going with or without Led Zeppelin, it's been decided. I'm pretty much waiting for the day to come where I can spend the money I've already saved for tickets...Bonnaroo year 5, can't wait!
