i have this feeling that beastie boys and cake will both be there...and i definitely see one of them in a late night spot on the which stage, probably beastie boys but i also think they could headline, however, i'd rather them not headline...i really don't know much about cake, i've heard a few songs, but how big are they? what bands are they similar to in fanbase or their live show? i know they've toured with the flaming lips, anyone ever seen cake live? what are their live shows like? could you see them in the spot the flaming lips had last year? or do you see the beastie boys there? do you see cake playing in a spot such as the white stripes, manu chao, or franz ferdinand from last year? do you think a latenight cake tent show is too small? i would put money on both of these bands being there next year...
You know what....it may be unpopular, but I'm just gonna say it....I've seen the Beastie Boys live three times....and they're really not that good in concert.
I don't mind them playing Bonnaroo so the people that like em can have a good time....but I'll be somewhere else...if they're a headliner I'd be disappointed.
By the way...people seem confused about what a headliner is at Bonnaroo....the headliners are the folks that are on ALONE...as in all the other stages are dark during their set...Beck, Bob Dylan, The White Stripes, and others that I've seen called headliners on here, were in fact, NOT headliners....they were just big name acts that played non-headlining sets.

Dude, FLips were insane late night, as in the crowd, i could hardly breathe. How insanely crowded would beastie boys be, my corn is getting squashed just thinking about it. I think they would have to be on the main stage anyway you cut it..imo
OR
Does this have thursday headliner written all over it??

I have seen them a dozen times first time over 20 years ago. They always put on a great show. But their best shows have been in the small concert halls less then a few thousand people. But they always put on a good show. They did an awsome show with P-Funk once both bands jammed for a while. If they play at roo I think they would it would be a great show.
The thing is, people outside of the jam community don't care that Widespread Panic or Phil Lesh and Friends are playing Bonnaroo, so they just announce the non-headlining group with the biggest name recognition. Hence Radiohead, Tom Petty & Beck or The Police, Tool and The White Stripes.
But to be clear, most major festivals don't have three straight nights of stand alone headliners. Most have dualing headliners with one group playing the main stage and the other playing a secondary stage on the other side of the festival grounds. Then there's usually one headliner at the close of the festival on the main stage. So it's pretty easy to see why people might take Which Stage headliners as festival headliners.

I would love to see it, for sure... but if this late night Wiki rumor thing is even scraping the surface of truth, then I hate to imagine the conflicts it would create.
