a little while back i brought up the idea of checking bonnaroo's friends on myspace. i was checking again tonight. why else would some of these bands be listed as friends of bonnaroo if they weren't playing. i guess it could be some kind of diversion to fool a person like me, but i'm thinking its not. some of the answers to the lineup are right under our noses. but i'll tell you what. going through all of those pages of friends is not fun and i have not checked all of them but here are some i did find:
bands who have never played bonnaroo before:
metallica (led zeppelin and metallica=inaccurate, no zep but plant instead AND metallica)
paul rodgers (did vocals in bands such as free, bad company, the firm, and more recently has worked with queen as the new freddie mercury)
john mellencamp indigo girls keane candlebox sister hazel big and rich hot hot heat porter batiste and stoltz (playing wakarusa) chicago afrobeat project (also playing wakarusa) danielson new orleans social club twineman joseph israel buddahead oval opus seepeoples trifecta funk the bridge will kimbrough cornmeal the macpodz iswhat?
bands/artists who have played that didn't play last year: (not really sure if these mean anything, they could've been on bonnaroo's friends list for the past few years, i don't know)
jack johnson lake trout lucinda williams clap your hands say yeah steel train ozomatli gomez particle calexico rilo kiley i nine my morning jacket moe. american minor dios (malos) dave matthews band andrew bird gran bel fisher blue merle the frames matisyahu assembly of dust tom petty (he's got bonnaroo listed in his top 8) rose hill drive o.a.r. ben kweller josh ritter perpetual groove artvandalay balkan beat box sam bush matisyahu mike doughty dungen beth orton bobby bare jr. corey harris the bad plus peter rowan the motet rebirth brass band
these are all things to think about and my guess is we will see a bunch of these bands on the lineup. so if you stumble upon a so-called fake lineup that has some of these, plus all the bands already confirmed or some of the bands rumored, either the person is doing their homework or it could be close or could even be the real thing

Good CSI roo work......I agree this is a good hint to what is to come....I can only hope that half of these friends come through on the line up....Except Metallica, I've seen their poop show before and it's not roo worthy ;D

i also read on bonnaroo's myspace page, in the message thing, someone said they read that metallica was announcing a u.s. tour on feb. 6, he said he got it from metallica's website but i couldn't find anything like that on there website
do you think that some of these bands friended bonnaroo on myspace for name recognition? hoping someone from bonnaroo might check out their music and suggest to let them play?

I was thinking that too. I know a lot of artists get friend requests all the time hoping they will listen to the music on their page. I think that might be the case with some of these bands. However, it could mean something. Who knows? I'll take any info I can get at this point...
anybody think that the lineup has been made and superfly is hiding it from us? i mean hidden in the website somewhere like an easter egg? just a thought.

I saw something on Blabbermouth the said MetClub mentioned US shows would be announced soon, don't think it said 2/6 as an exact date

he is hiding the lineup from us but its not on the site anywhere :x i wonder whats so great about feb 6 or w/e date they release the lineup >.< today is just as good as then!
not sure exactly, i only use my space to listen to new bands, but i just thought it was a possibility that those bands ended up as bonnaroo's friends that way
I don't necessarily think there's anything to them being friends. It could just be a networking thing. We should expect a handful of these bands, but certainly not all.

I guess I never thought of it this way. That probably makes more sense than my theory. I guess I'm just for looking for anything or anyone that could possibly leed to a confirmation on the lineup.
the only way i would even consider seeing metallica is if they were to do the S&M thing again. i dont see that happening so ill probably be back at the camp funneling beers if it does turn out to be true.
1. What if Superfly is getting Metallica to headline Vegoose? Wouldn't this explain the Superfly/Metallica friendships, the talks, and be a little better fit?
2. Haven't we seen in the past that bands don't cross the Atlantic to play a show here and then head back to Europe - not saying it's not possible, but highly unlikely. This is Metallica's current schedule: May 28 - Chorzow, Poland - Slaski Stadium May 30 - Landgraaf, Netherlands - Pinkpop May 31 - Madrid, Spain - Electric Weekend Jun. 03 - Prague, Czech Republic - Slavia Stadium Jun. 05 - Lisbon, Portugal - Rock In Rio Lisboa Jun. 07 - Nürburgring, Germany - Rock Am Ring Jun. 08 - Nürnberg, Germany - Rock Im Park Jul. 16 – Bergen, Norway - Koengen

I think the lineup's been made or mostly made for about a month or 2. I doubt that it's hiding in the site though.
