I have nothing solid to base this on. I heard it from somebody else on another board, but I looked up the dates, and this honestly works. The Cure is in the area and free Saturday, and R.E.M. is touring and has Sunday Free.
If it turns out these are our headliners, HOLY SH!T!!!! Superfly would have surpassed my expectations. Add all the second, third, etc. tier bands and this could be the craziest Bonnaroo yet.
I would love this but I think a lot of people may be upset. I still dont buy REM though I do not think Bonnaroo wants to have the a repeat of swamparoo. I am betting on the Cure and PJ though

That'd be fine by me. Out of the three, R.E.M. is the one I like the least.
i'd be fine with it, but i think they could do better, it beats last years headliners, i've never seen any of these 3 live, my ranking in order of favorite to least favorite goes pearl jam, rem, cure, a lot of people would be upset, but i'd stick around for all 3
I have seen PJ and The Cure, but would be happy to again... however the Cure would have to majorly step it up in comparison to how they were last time I saw them or people will be very disappointed a la The Police.
Pearl Jam? LOVE Pearl Jam. Saw them... I think I year ago and loved them still.
As for REM, I loved them, still love them and would love to see them. Bonnaroo may not be the perfect place, but I'd still be happy.

i agree ttown...all three would be great but i would also like to see a jam band close out the fest
I am pretty sure you would see lots and lots of upset people if this was true. Maybe a higher approval rate on this site, but overall it wouldn't fly I don't think.

Pearl Jam and The Cure would thrill me but I really couldn't care less about REM. I saw them once about 10 years ago and I fell asleep during the show...... If there was no one I liked more playing then I might take a nap near their stage
I am all for a jam band close out Sunday but if REM could only play on Sunday then I would be fine with a great jam band on Saturday for a longer set. Maybe 8-12 with someone like Phil Lesh and Friends, or Allman Brothers...or really whomever. I doubt it will be Panic again this year though but that would be just fine with me too.

REM is playing Boston the 13th and Long Island on the 14th, then Philly a few days later. I don't think its likely that they come all the way to TN for a gig and then go back up that way. But hey, stranger things . . .

I know I'm jumping the gun here without a line up but this sounds like lollapalooza not bonnaroo...add to this list some of the other names floating around from those clues ie metallica, rhcp, oasis.........where are the jam bands?
"If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has the power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive."
Remember, all this speculation of Bonnaroo's lineup being this drastically different flies in the face of the leaks we already have. It appears to be business as usual, but that doesn't stop people from throwing the name of every available headlining act out there...

i really like the cure, and i saw them at coachella - i think it was 04 - and yikes. it was less than great - i would really like if they weren't there... sorry cure.

Make-up and cosmetics don't belong at 'roo. I saw some girl there, she looked like she was some manager or publicist or something for Devotchka (they were doing a signing at Tower), and her mascara and stuff or whatever was all running down her face because of the humidity. And she was all complaining about it.
Just imagine what that humidity would do to Robert Smith. He'd look a mess!
honestly, I could pretty easily do without all three. Not that I dont like some pearl jam or REM, I just think that isnt the best that will be done. More lollapalooza kind of thing if you ask me.
im a casual cure fan, but im sorry, imo, the cure is just as out of place at bonnaroo as metallica, especially as a headliner. and before anyone says it, no its NOT the same thing as tool. i don't have a problem with the cure if they were just on the lineup, but no way should they headline. the white stripes are a much better live act and they certainly did not headline. if superfly is gonna go way out on a limb, like with tool or radiohead (as distinctly non-jam headliners) they can do better than the cure. in fact, an empty stage with the cure's albums playing over the PA would probably be better than what i saw of them live.
if there is any kind of absolute rule about bonnaroo, it is that there is a difference between musicianship and performance. bonnaroo schedules PERFORMERS to be headliners. this is why there has never been a truly "bad" headliner...imo...because they have all been strong performers (the police wasn't THAT bad...stu cope rules). as far as i can tell, the cure seem to lack that. if they show up and lay an egg with their angry selves (remember, i saw this happen so its not impossible) there would be some seriously bad vibes....very un-roo
those would be the worst set of headliners thus far, imo. i can take pj but REM is lame and the Cure is just not as good as they used to be. i might not even go if that was the headliners
