All my roo shots were with m point and shoot (makes me question the money I spent on the SLRs).....Canon Powershot S3...it's an amazing little camera...I actually bought it FOR Bonnaroo when I found out I could take pics but not with a pro rig.

yeah cause I have a slr and a digital point and shoot and it's nice but I can't get anywhere near that close....I have to buy a new one before roo so we'll have to try this again next year haha.... but those are nice....good deal.....
I'll give ya this one but you just wait...you just wait, haha watch we're gonna be standing right next to each other during the show taking pictures
Purple... Don't forget about cropping. If you take pics on a big enough resolution, you can make it look like you're right on top of the subject. You have to be fairly close, and get the right pic, but photoshop and cropping are key!
BTW, prices of point and shoots have been dropping like crazy. I have a Canon SD1000 that I got especially for festivals. It had a metal casing and is very durable. Unfortunately, the price of the damn thing has dropped about 75 bucks since I got it! You can find it on some sites for $150-175...

yeah I actually only discovered cropping like a year ago.....I grew up using film slrs and was very anti-digital, to the point that I would take the picture and never do a thing to them(cause I was used to not being able to do much with a finished photo), but I have since discovered the wonderful tools to enhance photographs and I haven't looked back .......
thanks MoeTrain I'll have to check that one out, karma, and that's karma for the aquabats too...haha
I did a lot of research before buying the one I bought....the key for me was the SPEED of the lens...if you're shooting bands, you wanna catch the ambient light...so no flash...so you need a fast lens...mine has an aperture range of 2.8-3.5 (at 400mm) to buy just a lens like that for an slr, your talking 2-3 grand....this will also let you shoot at night with less difficulty....

Speed has always been a big problem for me with digital cameras, the time lapse always killed me. I had one that was perfect, I loved it but it... uh, had an encounter with snow and quit working and I haven't had the heart to buy another one yet, I just keep looking and looking, and talking to people about which one is the best....but I want to have it by roo so I guess I should look a little harder, haha, but I'm sure it won't be long before we have someone in here telling us to take our camera talk else where soooo
How about that Gogol Bordello? I can see there are going to be quite a few inforoosters there.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "

I think everyone is planning on being in the front row...haha I was there for hours before they played last year but they were the second or third band to play and it wasn't hard to do...if they get pushed to a later time slot, which I think they will, it's gonna be harder to do....we'll just have to see when the schedule comes out
heatheroo if you like the energy of Ghostland Observatory you'll like the energy of Gogol...it's intense, and crazy, and fun.....As long as they don't clash I will see you at both shows(Ghostland and Gogol)

haha taking a hint from justinroo, no...no we are not going to have a photo showdown so don't take pictures, I'll let you see mine...haha
karma justinroo, although there is nowhere else my 5'0 ft frame is gonna be than front row for Gogol....If you can't be up front but don't want an obstructed veiw I'm the one to stand behind haha
Thanks for the pix everyone. That was one of my favorite sets last year. I've seen them a few times elsewhere, and they'll be at Stubbs in March. I've already got my ticket........

Stubbs in March, I have yet to go there. Its worth the 3 hour drive from what I hear. I will be seeing Justice and Nofx in March also. I will see if I can make it. Edit: Its on a Monday, no way I can make it. That sucks.
