Anyone who follows Metallica news knows that they arent even done recording yet. This sounds like a Hetfield sound alike. The guitar tone is nowhere near what Metallica has.
Load and Reload were way better than these fake songs. I dont get why people want to hear MOP II, the 80s are over. Bands who try to replicate the past are sad.
Rick Ruben is a master at bringing bands back home to their sound. God Hates Us All by Slayer is a great example of what he can do.
I'm going to have to disagree. I thought God Hates Us All sounded much more like Diabolus in Musica than Reign in Blood. Rick Ruben produced some killer albums in the 80's but that was it. Nowadays he's washed up.

i believe that Rick Rubin is a genius producer. he has produced some of my all-time favorites. however, even he cannot persuade me to purchase another Metallica album. i may see them in concert again, but i will not buy their new CD.
i am happy to say that Lars hates me too.
if u want to hear that great classic Metallica sound, check out BEATALLICA. now THEY should be at bonnaroo!!
I hope Rubin can get them back in gear... He seems like a good guy for that. He usually shows his artists or bands a specific way of doing things, and from what I hear, doesn't want too much diversion...
So his involvement with Tallica may be just what the band needs (to kind of find their niche for 2008- beyond) to help shake off the Bob Rock Formula that they've been used to for 16 or 17 years.
What I'm trying to say, is that even if the album is awful then at least it is their start to do something different and potentially better.

He did some great work with Johnny Cash long after the 80's were over.
Touche. I forgot about those. They are actually really good.
I'm just not a fan of Rick Ruben anymore. Its almost as if he gets a higher billing, as if he's more of a reason to buy an album than the band. He hasn't lived up to the hype lately. He did all this great work with really amazing artists, but its not like he's the reason why they're amazing. I donno, that's just my $.02

You're nuts to say that Rick is washed up.
*takes foot out of mouth* Well looks like I'm retarded. I didn't know he was involved in some of those albums. I need to lay off the corn. That stuff will rot your brain.
