had to jump on the forums to comment on this thread:
I was a bit bummed when I saw initial lineup bc I needed at least ONE edm act - I'm excited to see Chromeo but MSTRKRFT is the SH!!!!!!!T...
To hczor: Saying that they have average at best dj sets is pretty ridiculous. And to say it's half assed to beatmatch on serato is ridiculous also. They put on one of the best sets I've heard in a long time and on average I'd say that they're definitely in the upper echelon of skill (set wise) right now as anybody top 25 edm wise.
Also: There's no way this won't be a late night show - I bet it'll get the same slot as sasha & digweed did last year (hopefully til 6 am again!!!)
while coachella always has roo beat on the dance scene, it is great to see superfly taking steps to remedy that by adding mstrkrft and chromeo. can't wait.

Hah. I never said it was half-assed to beatmatch on Serato... I said THEY do a half-assed job beatmatching. If you really think they're in the top 25 skill set, I suggest you broaden your "edm" knowledge into other subgenres other than blog house. Any of the mediocre Detroit techno DJ's could absolutely destroy MSTRKRFT in any sort of skills competition.
I don't want to start another flame war. Don't be offended because I'm taking shots at one of your favorite artists. I'll be at MSTRKRFT and dancing just as well.

I don't know what y'all are saying,MSTRKRFT is really just mixing house, which is not that hard. If we are talking about mixing skills listen to some drum and bass from the UK. Those are some talented people. Check out hospital records.

First off I apolagize if I came across as rude. MSTRKRFT isn't really even my style - I love all types of music, including house, but electro house doesn't really do it for me. I'm much more into techno/minimal of the times (like your detroit dj's...). They're not one of my favorite artists, but they put on a great show. This is why I'm impressed by them - they can get me to like electro house.
Mixing in serato isn't hard...for anyone...I don't see how they or anyone who has practiced for about 8 hours could mess that up. And beatmatching house on vinyl isn't hard either...the skill lies in style, track selection, timing, etc... and they're very good at that.
Either way, I'm just trying to paint an accurate picture of them for people on the boards that may not have heard much of them. They're gonna rawk every1's face off!!!!
Who cares if it takes tons of talent to put their music together, what matters is that it's fun. Granted, musically speaking they are neither unique nor complex, but that's not gonna keep me from having a great time at this show.

I saw them at Ultra this past weekend and they kicked some SERIOUS butt. BE PREPARED TO DANCE!!!! Unfortunately I had to split my time between them and Tiesto, but I did get to see a pretty good bit. Good show...it's the perfect fit for Bonnaroo, and it's going to be a blast!
On a sidebar, Justice's set was absolutely MINDBLOWING. Hands down the best set of Ultra.
