First off, I put iffy in the title because unpopular wouldn't fit. I could care less who's headlining, I'm still going to see 20 or 30 bands over 4 days.
Now onto my point. Right from the get go, the headliners (except Pearl Jam) have been getting a luke warm reaction to put it kindly. From what I understand, Late Night Talk About With David Cross will be a nightly event. I've never attended a Bonnaroo before, so I'm just assuming that the comedy tent shuts down for the headliners just like everything else. But what if they kept it open and had David Cross during the headliners each night for the people that want an alternative? Anyone think this would work/would ever be considered?

I think that's a great idea, but I imagine there would be too MANY people who would want to do that for the comedy tent to be a feasible option. Maybe an actual tent.

if this is ur first roo you should realize seeing 30 acts unless ur superman is not gonna happen

yeah... also if you want to catch 15 minute chunks of sets.... maybe

I'd choose David Cross over any of the headliners in a heartbeat. In fact, I'd choose any of the comedians in the Yet Another Tent over the headliners. Some people dig 90's alt/metal. I dig funny.
well to be honest, there's a lot of bands that I kinda want to see, but don't really care if I see their entire set, so I'll be doing a lot of bouncing around between stages.

I wouldn't miss Pearl Jam to see David Cross. Don't get me wrong I love David Cross but last year I wasn't that impressed. I've seen Pearl Jam before and have every intention of getting up close this time. And come on Chelsea Handler is great!
i'm sorry i'm sorry! she's just too much for me. oh well...i guess i shoulda replaced her name with larry the cable guy...please say you don't like him!!
a) everything pretty much shuts down during the headliners and I dont think that will change this year.
b) there is not enough room in the comedy tent for everyone who would want to skip out on the headliners. soooo many people would flock over there and only a handful would be able to actually get in.

That's true, but that's pretty much the case anyway. David Cross is great. I had to sacrifice missing a couple bands I wanted to see to catch him last year, but it was worth it. He's one of my favorite people ever.
My suggestion if you don't like the headliner for that particular day? Grab a nice comfy couch in the cinema tent, relax for an hour, then head over and get a great spot for the late night you want to see most.

Pearl Jam is the only headliner I'm really looking forward to. For the others, I'll probably watch the first part of their set and then head out and stake myself out a good spot for the late night.

last year was my 2nd Bonnaroo and I saw 42 bands, you can definitely see as many bands as you want, but I wouldn't recommend it
and david cross will most likely be late night, everyone likes to see the headliners, even most of the artists that are playing, you may even spot an artist watching a show right next to you, or you may hear stories of elijah wood smoking a doobie with someone
2007 was my first Bonnaroo and I saw 47 shows: Apollo Sunshine, The National, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Clutch, Tea Leaf Green, The Whigs, Uncle Earl, Cold War Kids, The Richard Thompson Band, Tortoise, Paolo Nutini, Gillian Welch, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Kings of Leon, Hot Chip, Lily Allen, The Roots, Manu Chao, The Black Keys, Tool, David Cross & Friends, Superjam, Dr. Dog, Old Crow Medicine Show, Regina Spektor, Ziggy Marley, The Hold Steady, Damien Rice, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Franz Ferdinand, Jonah Smith, The Police, The Flaming Lips, STS9, Gov't Mule, John Butler Trio, Pete Yorn, Mavis Staples, Sonya Kitchell, Wolfmother, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Rocco Deluca, The Decemberists, Wilco, Feist, The White Stripes, and Widespread Panic. Some of them were just a few songs, but there were several acts where I got to see a large chunk of their set. There was nothing ambitious or rushed about this either. It just naturally happened.
