Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
They just dont have the same diveristy as 'roo. Some old Alt rock Bands as headliners, and one or two decent alt rock undercards. Not much funk, not much classic rock etc... One of the best things about 'roo is you can make it what you want i.e. a funk fest or C&W fest, or just a general mish mash of all things good. That being said I am little jealous of Love and Rockets being there.
haha, yeah thats why movements was called the best electronica album of 06 by almost every electronica magazine and thats why their BBC essential mix is one of the most downloaded. and I'm sure thats why Fabric asked them to come play there this past new years... all cause of us few electro geeks
I remember 4 years ago when they brought Lollapalooza "back" my radio station was giving away free tickets. I WON THEM. Then they cancelled Lolla due to lack of sales. Why can't that happen again???
seriously though, I'm thinking of saving up and going to this...I really like the lineup, and seeing Radiohead would be AMAZING.

Um...to point out the obvious...it's not like any of those qualifications you mentioned are relevant to anyone who isn't an electro-geek.
Honestly, I like Booka Shade and would be thrilled if Bonnaroo had booked them and not Tiesto. But they aren't big stateside, period. Which is why Girl Talk and Mark Ronson are billed higher than them...
The headliners definitely blow every other fests' out of the water. Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and Rage? NIN or RATM would've not only been much more suitable, but much more entertaining and overall talented headliners than Metallica (I'll be calling that as a poor choice even after the festival is over.)
Other than the headliners, it's a sturdy lineup, but I have either seen several of the acts already or will have seen them by the time June 16 rolls around.
I'd say so far this year, Sasquatch tops all the other festivals, lineup-wise.
Don't get me wrong, though. Bonnaroo is still great and I still plan on going. I just wish they'd do a better job in the booking headliners department.

I think i just took your use of electro-geek the wrong way. I just feel that anybody with any interest, big or small in electronica music has heard of booka shade .
it has probably been said a lot already,( i didn't read the whole thread), lolla's headliners are definitely better than roo, but after there there si not that much to offer. if i had the choice, i would choose roo.
I am not even sure they are "better" 'roo always has a classic band, a jam band, and a Alt rock band. This means that there is always at least one headliner that will appeal to almost anyone. Lolla has three Alt Rock bands. If that is your thing it is awesome if it is not, well you are left sucking hind t**.

Maybe in your (apparently) closed-minded opinion. If you already have an opinion of a show 2 months before it even happens then there is just something wrong with that situation.

I see what your saying here but I dont like metallica, listening to them in any setting or seeing them in any setting isnt going to change my opinion that listening to them makes my head hurt and my stomach churn.
so its def reasonable to know your not going to enjoy a show by a band u don't like
i just realized lolla has been goin on since 91. i feel old all of a sudden (i guess it stopped for a few years and then revived but stilL!!!)
I know. I didn't make it in 91' but I was there in 92'. I never thought I would see the Jesus and Mary Chain or Lush so I did that. Ended up seeing Pearl Jam for the first time there too ...Yeah I feel old to.

I was at 91-94. They were great shows. Jesus and the Mary Chain were great in 92. 91 was when NIN was introduced to the world.

However it is not reasonable to project your personal dislikes and likes into a "Blown out of the Water" type statement. Honestly I am not pleased with the headliners at 'roo, or at Lolla. (Radiohead exempted) However I think that the Bonnaroo headliners are more diverse and will have much more appeal to a larger audience. This is why I have been in this thread so much. Nothing at 'roo is smashed by having three headliners from the same genre. Could Bonnaroo have done better, sure. But at least they tried for a good all around mix vs Lolla.
imo they are both awesome and blew each other out of the water...im goin' to both becaue I PERSONALLY like the music at both. the environment of the roo and the close proximity of lolla make them a priority each year and this year, like every other, will be amazing.

I agree 100%. But to say it's a bad choice for the festival is a whole different story i feel. People may have thought Tool was a bad choice last year, but then Tool came out and they really brought it and turned nonbelievers into believers. Now it's the same thing with Metallica, but if people are going into it thinking "i already know this is a poor choice and nothing will ever change my mind no matter what the show is like" then i just don't agree with that mindset i guess... that's all. Personally, I'm anxious to see what Metallica is going to do... I think it has potential. And I absolutely hate anything they've come out with in many years.
I dont like Metallica and dont have to enjoy them to like bonnaroo. When they play I will be on shakedown making deals with vendors...Thats the great thing about bonnaroo. If you dont like one thing there is a million other things to do.......or see....or partake in....

Metallica is gonna rock Bonnaroo so hard, its ridiculous. I have been getting psyched everytime I hear them on the radio. Its the only US show they have scheduled this year, and they have a 3 hour slot. I sincerely doubt that they wont be bringing it to Bonnaroo this year. Sure there recent stuff sucks, but their old school stuff is awesome. Im not gonna miss that show for anything. Since this thread is about Lolla though, I think their headliners are gonna rock, but the undercard isnt that great. Radiohead would be my big draw, and i get to see them next month, so no biggie missing them. I saw Rage at Coachella last ear and they rocked. For me its all about the whole experience, late night sets and camping, which is why i choose Bonnaroo.

I agree. I've never been to a multi-day fest, downtown in a major city. I highly look forward to the aftershows, the insane bar scene, and sleeping till 11am everyday in an air conditioned room. Roo is awesome, but I'm more than pumped to try something different this year.

ACL has a solid start so far. Gnarles Barkley, Hot Chip, Silversun Pickups, gogol Bordello, Del the Funky Homosapien, MGMT, Jamie Lidell. they just posted a teaser mashup of artists on their site. I will go cuz its close, but Bonnaroo is better no matter who plays.

It's not being close-minded to say you don't like something and think it's a bad choice for a headliner. It's honesty. I tried to get into Tool last year and it just wouldn't click. I went to the show, and left after an hour unmoved by it. Honestly, I think Metallica gargles balls, and I don't plan on seeing them. And honestly, I think NIN or RATM would've been a much better choice

So making up your mind and then not allotting any room for change is not being closed minded. Got it
