I'm sorry some of the church folks have been mean. I'm never surprised at folks who are like that, churched or not.
I'll also bet you there are people who attend that church who have only good feelings toward these guys. Not many, perhaps, but some.
I'd like to get the name of the church if anyone has it. I would like to write a note to the pastor and let them know that we appreciate those fellows and what they mean to our community. I do NOT want to make any mention of any ill-will or ill treatment by the church--it serves no purpose IMHO--but I think the story of these guys has all sorts of important Christian parables tied up in nice little tent.
Rock on Kramer. I'm pulling over on the way in for you!
I'd like to get the name of the church if anyone has it.
Bushy Branch Church or Bushy Branch Community Church
I've been digging for an address online, but haven't come up with anything yet.
Bill Hicks had a great response to Christians who were upset with him...
...after the show these three rednecks came up to me. 'Hey, buddy! C'mere! Hey Mr. Comedian! C'mere! Hey buddy, we're Christians and we don't like what you said!' I said 'Well, then forgive me.'

Hmmmm, wish somebody would have thought of that earlier!!!!!
Anyway, I am having a hard time finding the address also. I'll post it as soon as I can find it.
Yeah you're right, I am sure there are many in that church that are not that way. The problem is that usually the "public face" of the church is represented by someone that is.
On the other hand, I can report that serveral time I have driven by and someone would be out there giving them something to eat or dropping off a cooler or something. I think overall, the surrounding community have been pretty good to the guys. Unfortunately, there is always the few bad apples and thier negative actions seem to outweigh what the good folks are trying to do!
How right you are here:
but I think the story of these guys has all sorts of important Christian parables tied up in nice little tent.
I a not religious by any means, but I know the story and I know sorta how they are "supposed" to act, and I don't think this churches actions fall into that!
Thanks for all the Karma guys! Certainly not expected, but much appreciated. My wife and I are just giving people, we always have been! I have about another 4 - 5 inches to go on my hair (it has to be 10 inches fro the pony holder) and I will be donating it to locks of love! We are the people who get yelled at from the rest of the traffic at Wal-Mart because we stopped to give someone money at the corner. I just can't bear to see another suffer, when I have it so good (at least I think I do, noone have ever told me different!)
I apologize for not getting the Church's name after work yesterday, I didn't go home that way. I will defintiely get it today at lunch.
Here is aquick update on Kamp Kramer:
It seems the population of Kamp Kramer is growing. There is a new tent, a small red dome tent. I swung by at lunch yesterday and got the guys a bad of ice. when I stopped to drop it off, there was the tent. Kramer told me that a girl who was working inside with Anthony had come out and set her tent up there. Now the workers have an area already set for them right now to camp in, inside the site. I guess Kamp Kramer was more happenin! So anyway, there are 3 residents there now.
From what Kramer has told me, plans are for them to stay there. If he gets ran off prior to the festival, I am going to move him into my back yard, but after it kicks off, he wants to go back to his spot.
honestly, I don't think he will have to move. I am sure they will still be there when all you guys arrive!
Be sure to swing by and have a beer (or smoke) with em!
If anything, I bet Anthony and Kramer were glad to get out of Manchester for an evening.
Yeah, he told me Monday when I was hangin out that an old redneck kinda guy stopped by on Sunday and asked them if they wanted to go to a barbecue cookout with him and his family. Of course they happily accepted!
He said the man little boy told him, "Wow, my dad never invites anyone to anything!"
He said everyone was just totally amazed at them!
It's wonderful to see 'Most" of the area being good to the guys!

Speaking of being good to the guys, did you check out their new crib? They got hooked up! It's a dome tent that's tall enough to stand in. Also, Kramer got to ride out to Tim's Ford Lake for the afternoon with the folks that gifted the tent. Pretty cool =]

Yeah man, they are HOOKED UP!!
Kramer said a local lady took him swimming yesterday, got the pup shots, and let them borrow the tent
Seeing all the goodwill and generosity coming from fellow Tennesseans makes me feel pretty good. It really negates the way the CHURCH treated them and really makes them look foolish(the church)!! Kamp Kramer has earned a page in the BONNAROO History books....as far as I'm concerned.
DMBfan, Thanx for all the updates on Kramer. When I wake up in the morning and turn the computer on, I have been reading the updates on him before news and sports.

;D ;DYou are very welcome! ;D ;D
Be sure to check the other thread about them making the paper!
Also, a quick update on the SSN card situation. We are currently trying to get him a new card. I have printed out the form needed and we are going to take it to the SSN office this evening probably.
I have no idea how long it will take for them to cut him a new card, but if it is within a reasonable amount of time, we will have it mailed to my house.
Hopefully he can get a week or two of work, at least!
we will see how it plays out!
PS: Yeah, the church looks pretty silly right now for being such azzes to the guys! Everyone else around here loves them (As the churchies should have from the beginning!)

Hey guys, man, this is really a great story. I'm working on a couple of pieces for the Roo Beacon and I'd like to use parts of this thread in a story on Camp Kramer. Whaddya think? I would ask permission directly from anyone I wanted to quote, but I'd like to hear from our community as to whether it's OK for me to work this one up.
Makes me all tingly. These guys are going to be living like KINGS! By the time I roll in on June 14, they'll be in a dang doubledecker doublewide!
Lol, you're right. They're gonna have VIP tickets, and a spot in the SuperJam playing bongos!
But I think you should definately write the story. Everyone going to Roo should know about these guys! In my book they're already a part of the roo experience.
if he cant get a ticket, i might have an extra one(couple of snowflakes bailed on the festivities) i'll know by saturday for sure....-i'll keep ya posted-----
I think we have the ticket problem solved, but let us know just in case!
A quick update:
Yesterday around 4:00 PM Manchester got a nice little T-Storm with some pretty hard winds and rain.
When I talked to Kramer this morning he said it blew their tent down and filled with water. He said some guy he never met came rolling up in a pick up and said "You can't be out in this, grab your dog and get in!"
So he did, and they went and hung out until the storm passed. It only lasted about 30 minutes and was gone. By this morning Kamp Kramer was built back up.
I am going to pick up Kramer at lunch today and drive him to the SSN office. He has his application filled out and we are hoping they will issue him one on the spot.
Cross your finger for him and wish him luck, maybe he'll get his card today and can work!

dmbfanintn, you are what i wish the rest of the world could be like, to be so nice to someone and expect nothing in return, you and your wife are truly remarkable. i dont' post here much but i've been trying to follow this thread, let me say i appreciate you and your wife. no if only the rest of the world would fall in line things would be gravy but alas........ anyway thanks for being an inspiration, you made me belive there are still nice people out there. Dan
We did'nt go to the office at lunch today, when I went by at lunch they weren't around. I stopped by about an hour later and they still weren't there.
I figured maybe someone had picked them up to eat or go somewhere, then about 3:00 the thunderstorms set in.
I went to the store at about 6:00 (See the porta-potty thread!! ;D) and it had been raining for about 2.5 - 3 hours, and the boys were not at camp.
I twas pretty harsh off and on so hopefully they had shelter somewhere.
I'm gonna swing by in the morning on the way to trash dump and see if he wants to go down there tomorrow. Hell, if he didn't want to go, I wouldn't blame him!
I appreaciate the karma guys, y'all are all to kind!!
Hopefully I can meet some of you folks out there ans chill a while!!
Depending on weather, we might take a trip down to Manchester tomorrow, just for some scenery. If we do, I'll bake a batch or two of cookies and make some sandwiches, and maybe we'll visit them for a bit.
Hi! New here. I live in Manchester. I went by their place last night around 10. They weren't home but I left them a little present. Hope they are doing alright!

Good for you two helping them in the ways that you have. I really hope i get to meet these guys when i go down there. You know whats funny tho? if everyone of us gives them a beer and a bowl....we're gonna have to take them to the hospital cuz of alcohol poisoning. I'm sure they'll be gettin lots of booze and stuff.
