Done! A slight change in the design (the flames are clear now). Took 2 hours. If anyone in northern NJ is looking for a great artist with a cool taste in music, I highly recommend Adal at Tattoo Nation in the Willowbrook Mall.
Bandage is still on... will take pics when it's off (another hour or 2).

Had a good time getting it, too. Adal really liked the design. I mentioned how I wanted to get the work done before going to a music festival in June. He paused and said, "...Bonnaroo?". I couldn't stop grinning the rest of the session. ;D We discussed the lineup, how he used to house sit for D'arcy from the Smashing Pumpkins, how his roommates are going to 'Roo (he had to pass) and Tom Waites.... lots and lots of Tom Waites.
We also talked about how tattoos and piercings are getting almost too popular these days - theatening to jump the shark even. He said piercings maybe, but never tattoos; the element of pain was just enough to keep the masses at bay. Very cool dude.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.

A little sore, but nothing to complain about. I freaked a bit when some of the pigment gunked up and dropped off while washing it last night. No harm done, and they all do that I'm told. The worst of it is that while I was waiting for the artist to arrive, I dropped into the Lindt chocolate store next door and bought a big bag of cookies n' cream truffles to give to a co-worker today. I've been running over every 5 minutes and stealing them all morning.
Questions to tattoo veterans: I have the word Dream, pretty small, on the inside of my wrist. I got it about 8 months ago. At first I was in love with it, I had wanted it for a long time, but recently I have been having kinda negative feelings about it. I kinda feel like the font isn't what I really wanted but at the time I was so excited that I just went with what the artist drew up first. I just generally am not as thrilled with it as I used to be - I wish it was a little better quality. I still love it and get compliments on it, when people notice it that is becuase its small, but like right now I'm looking at it and it bugs the crap outta me that the M is so tall, and knowing that there's nothing I can do to change it now makes me kinda panicky.
Is this normal? Do all of you guys 100% love your tattoos? Have you ever gotten them changed at all? I feel like words can't be changed that much without making them bigger.
And I know this sounds weird considering I am being all ambivalent about my first one, but I am considering getting a tiny bird in flight on the top of my foot. Do any of ya'll have tattoos on your feet? How was the pain? I'm afraid I will be jumpy and mess it up. Have you guys ever seen some really great bird designs? I'm not artistic at all.
I am 100% happy with my tattoos - would not change anything about them. I do plan on adding to the one that is at the base of my back - but other then that - they are great.
Don't know about the pain issue with a tattoo oin your foot tho
As I mentioned above, I was kinda disappointed that my circular pattern doesn't keep to it's circular shape (something to do with having flexible skin!) and I did go back two weeks later to have the red outline changed to black so it would stand out. Otherwise I'm very pleased.
Can't answer for a tat on the feet except that I guess it would hurt a lot, but a good artist shouldn't allow your jumpiness to mess up the work.

I know a lot of people who've gone through the same thing. They rush into a design, they're more interested in simply getting a tattoo then they are finding a design they won't get tired of.
Me personally though, no. I've got 15 and wouldn't change a thing about any of them.

you would really be surprised how well touch-ups and cover-ups look. ive been tattooed 3 times in the same spot across my ribcage (right below my boob). the first time was just one of those quick decisions where i wanted another tattoo and i got it. gag. i still liked the idea behind it, so i had it completely reworked. that said, i ended up hating it and got it all covered up last year with a sparrow. which i am really happy with and get complimented on all the time. you cant even tell that there was anything underneath it originally.
i have a friend with an all white tattoo, and i plan on getting one as soon as i work out the details. white tattoos are a completely different game-not every person can get white, and not every artist will be able to do white. you have to be pretty fair skinned for white to work out. sometimes the white will actually look like a scar- like you've been branded (if you're pale, but tan easily), and sometimes it will look like white ink (especially if you're super fair). the key is to find an artist who is super skilled and confident about their white prowess. for example, they'll have to use a bloodline because a stencil will bleed into the ink, making it a ruddy blue color.
with that in mind- i'm getting a white lacey design. ;D

I have a few tattoos and my ex wanted to get a tattoo on her foot but the designer wouldnt do it he said it was a waste of money becuase you lose way to much skin on your feet and fades really really fast. Besides he said it was incredibly painful. He said it was more painful then a tattoo on the lower back or under arm. I know those hurt so I wouldnt eve try it. But I am addicted to the ink and love every single one of mine

I've been wanting to scrape the funds together to have the '04 & '06 Roo symbols added to my left arm before this years Roo but it doesn't look like it's going to pan out. But they will get inked soon.
You might run into people that tell you tats don't hurt and they are full of it. There is going to be discomfort to some degree depending on your threshold and the area being inked. From the looks of the size and the amount to be inked, your arm is gonna be nice and tender after the first hour. Yeah the pain is part of the addiction but don't be afraid to ask them if you can take a break if you start feeling light headed. It's a weird sensation getting your first tat and it's one you'll never forget.
I don't know about everyone else, but I love my tattoos. I have 2 Chinese symbols on my left shoulder, and five on my right shoulder. I never was going to get a tattoo unless it meant something very special to me... Well, I decided to get the tattoos (3 separate tattoos) as a memorial to my mom who passed away in 1999.
My first tattoo on my right shoulder is 3 small characters going down my shoulder which mean "lifeline." My mom called me her "lifeline" when she was in Chemo, and it was something that I'd never forget. My next tattoo was "mother," with 2 larger symbols around "lifeline." On my left shoulder, I have the symbol for the zen meaning of "listen." Meaning, if you "listen" with your mind, heart, body and soul, you will truly hear.
People ask why I got Chinese symbols... because I'm not Chinese...and that a lot of other people have gotten symbols... I always tell them that I've always loved the Chinese culture and arts, and I think the calligraphy has a certain indistinguishable beauty to it. I don't care if other people have gotten them, because a lot of people have gotten symbols just for the sake of getting a word on them. Also, I checked and double checked the symbols. I went to Chinatown in Philly with the symbols... went up to a random person in a store, smiled, held up the calligraphy, and asked, "What does this say?" After I had them verified, I decided on the Tattoo Shop... and went to BodyGraphix on South Street in Philly. I had my tattoos done by the guy who did Allen Iverson's tattoos (unintentionally).
Apparently a bunch of people in this thread have ink... post the pictures of your tattoos! I'm always interested in seeing others' art and hearing the reasons behind why they got them in the first place.
I don't have close up pics of my tattoos, but you can see them in this picture. (Sorry, I know the pic is kinda big, but it was a promo pic for one of my sites) You can see the symbol on my left shoulder pretty clearly in this pic, and about half of the other one.
By the way, if you want to lose weight pretty fast... cut out ALL soda intake (high fructose corn syrup is one of the fattiest things you can put in your body), and don't eat after 8pm. If you're a big soda drinker and cut it out, you'll prob lose 5 lbs in one week. Not eating after 8pm works like magic. Also, flood your body with water all day, you won't eat so much because you'll feel full. One other thing... You could do a "cleanse." You can find "Whole Body Cleanse" at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe for about 20 bucks. It's not the most pleasant thing to talk about, but you'll feel amazing afterwards (2 week program), and you'll def lose weight.

Hooray for me!! I finally was able to get the '04 symbol inked into my left arm. Believe it or not, the inside rings are actually white and the green triangles are super bright green. Won't be able to see the true color till I stop bleeding and it begins to heal. I definately won't be going back to that shop again due to the guys inexperience.

hey! i know you posted a while ago, but i just got this tattoo on the top/side of my foot. i heard the pain was going to be extreme, but it ended up being about 50% less painful than what i expected - it's still healing now, but it's only been about a week ... i love it
