'God forgot to wear mittens'
Cold days earth frosted by a God that forgot to wear mittens pneumonia sneeze shook all landed me on bench somewhere in Brooklyn. A man beaten by time spent failing shared space w/ me & backpack. W/ trembling hands working delicate like worn pieces of Michangelo tinted tissue blowin in the wind. Tin foil spread out to build plate dinner on lap thru blued lips offered to share, I declined, his offer switcht to grinned demand. I leaned in to see what was on menu Brooklyn Bench Crusty Old Man Diner & sudden like coldsnap changed mind & accepted open soul sandwiches.

'disembodied Poet'
A disembodied Poet taking a kind of flight from flipped light w/ last beads of gold moonbeams gleaming down thru wine-aged roofbeams rolled elegant on strings dripped down upon our heads like braincased carnival apples We all live in our own kinds of castles shiny hilltop mansions built from Ronnie R slabs shantys on gray blocks & wheels or wholedays holding head under blue-turning-green lake of bar tabs We develop our own kinds of pain torment & hassles locking chains we molded & cast to feel safe behind self-enslaved cages of stocks, drugs, submission & emerald-skin rages of hoped-for ownership mistaken for love
I am a disembodied Poet stooping down/taking bite from carnival apple concrete braincase to taste what's all really inside.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. `'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door - Only this, and nothing more.'
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December, And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor. Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore - For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore - Nameless here for evermore.
And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating `'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door - Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; - This it is, and nothing more,'

this one is a little bit sadder but it just is a really interesting way to describe what we classify as a magical event. (sorry but I can pull out poems all night long. All of these come from my complete collection of Keats or my English Romantic Verse book)

Everything is the same, the fog says 'We are fog and we fly by dissolving like ephemera,' and the leaves say 'We are leaves and we jiggle in the wind, that's all, we come and go, grow and fall' — Even the paper bags in my garbage pit say 'We are mantransformed paper bags made out of wood pulp, we are kinda proud of being paper bags as long as that will be possible, but we'll be mush again with our sisters the leaves come rainy season' — The tree stumps say 'We are tree stumps torn out of the ground by men, sometimes by the wind, we have big tendrils full of earth that drink out of the earth' — Men say 'We are men, we pull out tree stumps, we make paper bags, we think wise thoughts, we make lunch, we look around, we make a great effort to realise everything is the same.'
Not really poetry per se, but it's Kerouac, so it kinda counts .

I hadn't read Prufrock in years, then went looking for it to quote the "I grow old, I grow old" line for a friend's birthday. As a teen, I remember thinking it was about old men, preparing for death and tolling their failures. Now, as an old(er ) man, I see it as a warning to enjoy life, take chances, embrace change, and worry less about what others think.

In the fourth inning an angel committed suicide by jumping off a low cloud. The angel landed on second base, causing the whole infield to crack like a huge mirror. The game was called on account of fear.
