moving out of my apartment today, it was fun taking all the posters off my walls and counting how many different kinds of tape were stuck to the edges from years of hanging them in different places.
it got me wondering what kinds of posters you guys have hung in your houses. it could be fun to search for them online and post the images! (i hope this hasn't been done yet... i searched the archive)
post: #1 a pic of your poster #2 where it's located #3 and significance it has to you
i bet some of us have the same ones hangin in our rooms
i'll start it off with one of mine:
it was above my bed until i took it down to move today and the significance is... that i love the beatles. very very much. and i got the poster at the beach when i was pretty young. i liked how nice and serene it was. and that it was from the abbey road photo shoot.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.
I dont have any pics of my posters, but I collect horror movie posters and they were strung up all over my garage. My wife made me take them down though because they creeped her out!
I have about 30 horror movie posters total. My most precious poster is an original 1978 theatrical one-sheet for George A Romero's Dawn of the Dead. It cost me $75 about 8 years ago and they go on Ebay for about 400 - 500 now depending on condition (Mine is mint!)
I alos have the original theatrical one sheet for George Romeros Day of the Dead (worth about $150) and an orginal for Land of the Dead (about $25), but the holy grail has to this point eluded me! I need an original Night of the Living Dead to round out my collection. Problem is, if you can find one, they are $ 800.00. I do have several repro's, but the purists know that, that just dont cut it!

This was a promo poster handed out back in 1982 as a promotion for the '82 Jethro Tull album Broadsword & The Beast.
Hanging above my bed.
I love Jethro Tull (despite criticism ive already received on this forum for it). Not really a fan of this album but my dad gave it to me when i was really young and ive always had it so it holds sentimental value.
Poster of Jimi Hendrix's Axis BOld as Love album.
Hanging above my desk.
One of the greatest album covers ever made, and I have a special experience with this album and its cover that I will not discuss here. But is a sweet poster none the less.
Jim Morrison Poster
Hanging in my living room.
I minorly idolize Jim Morrison (hence my name) and this poster was a present from a ex-girlfriend. This poster, as I see it, is the best thing I got out of that so I keep it to remind me. Plus its a sweet poster as well.
I got plenty more but no pics -Beatles poster -Led Zeppelin poster -BOB Marley (shrine actually, in my kitchen) -Pink Floyd poster -MC5 poster

i have a ton of old posters from high school/ college, but have since graduated to posters not requiring thumb tacks or tape....and also just a bit pricier.
all these posters are done by Jermaine Rogers.....(my fav. if you cant tell.)
this one is done by Emek, and mine is autographed by the band.
this one is done by Jim Mazza
these are done by Shepard Fairey of OBEY fame.
this is a random one i picked up at Roo last year..
this is a very fun, but expensive hobby, the prints are all signed and #'d, various sizes and framing gets spendy....but its totally worth it, especially when you have company over and their jaws hit the floor.

this thread is bumming me out. I have absolutely nothing on the walls of my apartment. Utilitarian bachelordom at its finest. I have been wanting to find a few posters of very specific symbols that represent different bands, but cannot find those posters that are just right. More searching and hunting, I guess.
and I don't know what happened to my old Zeppelin posters
I love Jethro Tull (despite criticism ive already received on this forum for it).
I can't believe there are people that don't love Jethro Tull. I'd love to see them at roo. I'd also like to see Yes there as well. I doubt they are in form but some Emerson Lake and Palmer would also rock.

Its called the Barefoot Prodigy, by Martha Moore I love this print, it hangs in my dining area/corner.
This one is... well... lesbians, cause.... well... I like lesbians. Its in the hallway.
This is Bob, he hangs over my couch in the living room. I like this one, for three reasons. 1. It reminds me of my mommy 2. I love bob 3. Its the only one I could find where he didnt have a J

Sorry about the thread jack. I could help myself.
I love Jethro Tull but do yourself a favor and just listen to the albums and revere the old stuff. Ian Anderson has lost his voice and it is nothing like the show it used to be at all. I saw them a few years back and it was horrible. I still enjoy the band but I would not recomend seeing Tull now.

I have the following in my room:
One of my all-time favorite movies, from childhood to the present.
my clockwork orange poster is slightly different and in black and white, but it's close to that. another favorite movie of mine
mine is like that, but a black background. i love this movie so much i even kind of liked the terrible remake...
same as the others, a classic
a poster with my favorite movie character of all-time in one of my favorite movies.
great band, great poster...my cousin gave it to me as a house-warming present
a present from my girlfriend, an absolutely great movie (up there with the other woody allen greats, in my opinion)
my white sox poster looks NOTHING like that, but I couldn't find it anywhere, so that will have to do. if only the bears would WIN a super bowl...
again, nothing like my poster, but mine is probably the only copy left in existence (yet still worthless) from the very last show played at the greatest concert venue that ever existed, The Globe East of Milwaukee. I have so many great stories from there, a truly amazing place.
another present from my girlfriend and another favorite of mine, musically
NOW, my two favorites:
this is, unfortunately, the biggest version i could find, but this is a third gift from my girlfriend and an awesome poster. if you can't tell, it's Bob, a guitar and either a cigarette or a joint, depending on your...interpretation. either way, i love it.
last, but certainly not least:
regrettably, mine is not signed, but i love it anyway. it's a very large one that hangs over my bed (next to Bob, in fact) and it's one of my favorite movies as well as a classic look from Bill Murray.
Well, that's it (except for the Lollapalooza poster above that I also have, but am waiting to get framed), I hope I didn't suck up too much bandwidth.
ummm - none - I have artwork and oil paintings on my wall - but my daughter's room was covered in MCR, AFI and Green day crap (until I took it all down to paint)

sadly - nope - not this year - she will be 14 - but I am not sure that I want to expose her to everything that is Bonnaroo - she is still a fairly sheltered child. Plus - Bonnaroo is my time to cut loose and have a vacation away from the responsibilities of parenting

Plus another Urchin/Minibosses poster, a Ween Red Rocks Pre-party W/ Bradley Z and a Flatstock 2 poster I cant find images of. And this one's in my bathroom

My two favorite posters I have in my room are:
which, I think is hilarious because if you notice on the bottom right you'll see Hillary Duff's name on the cover. Seriously, what's Hillary Duff doing on a Rolling Stone magazine, much less with the main theme of the cover being "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time"
then, I have the classic
Cause let's face it, Beer Pong should be an olympic sport. and I'd like to consider myself a gold medal contender.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
Jason Mraz Acoustic Tour '04. I liked the design. Made me realize posters could be something I eventually collect. I'd rather have a poster than a t-shirt.
Gravity Games (which is held in Cleveland), got a signed poster (Travis Pastrana) I think for buying full week passes. It's in a tube somewhere. I'm really slow at getting things framed properly.
I want more posters, just not a collection I've quite tapped in to yet. Next maybe a NIN Year Zero poster (again, like the designs), and a Bonnaroo poster this year. In '05 I didn't buy one on site and haven't bought one from the website yet. Is that hokey?
The Dream team is cracking me up. I don't have my posters of Devon Sawa or Jeremy McGrath anymore.

www.jermainerogers.com - is the shizzle. most amazing poster artist I've ever met. If you are serious about poster art, check out FlatStock at SXSW one year. Its unreal. And look up Todd Slater - he's the next big thing. He's from Houston as well (just like Jermaine).
