Even if Libby still has the fine and the end of his career, it's still the principle behind this that irritates me. It even irritated me when Clinton did it.
I just have to point out that while both were convicted of perjury and obstructing justice the circumstances could not be more different. Not to excuse him but Clinton lied about a personal matter. Marital affairs are not even illegal. Libby lied about a conspiracy to espose a CIA agent, a capital offense. This exposure not only ruined an agents career but exposed a CIA company which potentially exposed thousands of other agents and destroyed a multi-million dollar, multi-year operation.
Both were wrong but any comparisons beyond the technical charge is ludicrous.
But the President has never been held to account in his life. Why should he think anyone would start now?
Until we as a people get fed up and do something about it, things will only get worse. Welcome to Idiot America!
My bad, I should have been a little more clear. I meant to say that it irritated me when Clinton utilized Presidential pardons.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
I don't know if anyone on here watches "Countdown with Keith Olbermann", but the final 10 minutes tonight was devoted to a "special comment" in which he compared Bush's commutation with Nixon's firing of Archibald Cox as special prosecutor in the Watergate case. Good stuff....

I used to have MSNBC. I moved a month or so ago and the provider here doesn't carry MSNBC. (Yet they carry CNBC for some stupidass reason) I miss Olberman, Tucker, Imus (for another reason), and Scarborough.
Joe Biden is one of my favorite out of all the Democrats currently running (Gravel being the other). I'm in the Ron Paul camp though.
That really is a great speech, I hope it gets around.
Thanks for the link The one thing that's burning in my gut, didn't make it to Olberman's speech but someone mentioned it above; Bush has effectively bought Libby's silence. There's no way he'll testify against Bush and Cheney now (a0 as they rewarded him so nicely and (b) as there's no reduction in jailtime to offer into any plea bargain. The whole thing sticks worse that a Bonnaroo portopottie on a hot afternoon.
