Update on my awful relationship life right now:
Turns out one of my good friends (who many of you met at brunch) is still hanging out with my previously mentioned ex who cheated on me. I drove to his house and he wasn't home. He fails to see how he's done any wrong.

That sucks. Was he friends with her first?
No, he's been my friend for like seven years. They've been friends like 6 months really
I finally got the guts to talk to a girl that has been giving me the eyes ever since we met in April. She is in CO for the next week and I leave for school in like 9 days so there's no way this is happening

He's a shitty friend. No idea how he could honestly think he's done nothing wrong. Keep your head up T, you will feel better without the shitty people in your life.

Let's be honest here: most people in your life are going to disappoint you.

This. The two girls I've been friends with for 20+ years no longer talk to me. One of them told my sister that they both hate me. On top of everything else it has made this year quite difficult. Some people just don't deserve the effort.

And all this time I thought I was just being overcritical and had expectations that were too high. Turns out, people just suck. Who knew.

Turns out my girlfriend (who many of you have met) has been cheating on me with my friend of five years. She continued to lie when I confronted her about it. She cried for about an hour straight begging me not to go.
Man, some people are real shit heads.
Fuck! I just saw this I've been checking inforoo very sporadically as of late, especially the past week as I've been on vacation. But damn. I'm so sorry to hear this, amigo. I take back the beer I bought her!! She never deserved it - or you!!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
We have a water cooler type thing right outside of my office. We stock it with individually wrapped plastic cups as our building gets a lot of visitors. Two of my coworkers drink out of those cups a few times a week. It drives me NUTS. Buy a water bottle. Actually, we have Tervis tumblers in our storage room- go get one of those! Stop wasting. You have no use for those.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Print this out. I suggest this size and in green. Tape on water cooler thingy.
edit-only one piece of paper will be harmed in the making of this sign. The sacrifice of the one, to save the many.

I love this solution so much. Also, don't ever work in the French Quarter in New Orleans, we have no recycling and we print a shit-ton of paper all the time. I mean, I print out the whole magazine once a month including the pages without ads and then re-print the non-ad pages once the ads are placed. I am killing the planet one publication at a time. Sorry guys.
Edit: I do have mardi gras cups that I drink water out of, or my brita water bottle. So I don't throw away plastic cups at least.

Like, the whole area doesn't have recycling? Living in California my whole life, I can't even fathom that! I will carry around recyclables with me all day if I can't find a suitable place to dispose of them, lol.

Businesses have no recycling and there is no recycling inside the heart of the quarter. I know that some of the residential areas in the Quarter (really surrounding the heart of the quarter) have recycling. We also put the trash out daily, but it has to be after 3pm and they pass by several times. There are no business garbage receptacles so we have to put them in big black bags on the street, breakdown boxes completely and tape them together. I have had tourist yell out me when they see me dropping a huge garbage bag on the curb before, calling me a litter bug and shit like that. Especially since at the corner of each block there are the city cans, but even with those, my garbage bags would never fit in those and they aren't meant to either.
My house just got recycling and I am in suburbia, but I am also on the levee road. They had recycling all around me except my street until about 6 months ago. I have been trying to get a recycling bin for months now with no success. New Orleans is kinda dirty.

Well that stinks. Do they have some sort of reasoning as to why?? Every week our recycling bin is at least twice as full as the regular trash can, so I can't even imagine this. It pains me when I see someone toss a can/bottle/box into the regular trash.

I never fully appreciated how clean minneapolis is until I moved.

It started because of the slow start of recovery from Katrina. We didn't even have really a good/consistent trash service for awhile, but this dude came in and started his own company and then all the sudden there was actually competition for the trash business. If you don't like your trash service you have a choice now. I think it is one of those things where it is just a slow recovery thing. Most of the city has recycling now...I am not sure about the CBD, it didn't when I worked there in 2011. I am not really sure why the Quarter doesn't have recycling in the heart of it. Maybe the same reason we don't have receptacles, they don't like them out for the tourist to see or they don't have a company (or money to hire someone) to come out and run constantly picking them up after 3pm. Or maybe because we just dirty. I can't even imagine the amount of recyclables Bourbon Street alone would create. That might be another part of it. We have go cups on the streets and a constant stream of tourists that just litter and DGAF. When I bartended we didn't recycle, if we would have we would have had BAGS of recyclable and hardly any real trash.

That might have been an understatement, New Orleans is really dirty. When I travel to other places, I always notice how clean it is in comparison.

You have no idea. Recycling around here takes works. I live in the county, so I have to take all my trash to the dump anyway. The lady lives in Knoxville proper, and she still has to take her recycling to a center. One of her big culture shocks when she went to California was how ingrained recycling is in the culture. She said she had never seen so many facilities for it and seen so many dirty looks given when someone threw something recyclable in the trash.

I was outside a coffee shop yesterday and threw away a glass bottle because I didn't see the recycling bin in the other direction. I felt filthy.

Sometimes people just drift apart as they get older, but them disappearing and saying they hate you is a bit much/uncalled for.

Y'all are starting to make me feel like a really bad person. Recycling is really such a second thought to me. If we ever buy a house, I'm planning on having chickens and a compost but I never recycle. My mom always recycled, I remember as a teenager we had a recycle bin in the house. I guess I should get on that.
My restaurant has bins out for recycling to make people feel good, but we don't actually have it so everything just goes into the same dumpster. It's all just a lie.

Whoa. That's crazy! But it makes you wonder how many other businesses do that.

I still think it's wild how involved some of y'all's locations are with recycling. I've never really lived anywhere that was heavy into the act of recycling. We just got a once a week recycling truck in my neighborhood a couple years ago. I'm very pro recycling in theory but it's existence has always been minimal.
And while I agree that the Quarter is dirty, I refuse to be shamed for it. It never closes! Bars are open 24/7 year round. And the people making it so filthy are all the disgusting tourists. The same disgusting tourists that complain that our city is dirty or a "cesspool." But yet they come here so they can puke in our streets and trash the city on their bachelorette parties and work conventions.
