Anyone interested in stopping by the Bible Theme Park on the way to Roo? 'Cause they're pushing to build one just SW of M'boro.
Now I don't care what people do with their own money but the State legislature has passed laws allowing the County to take my property tax and all the area sales tax and give it to the developer to build this park. And this at a time when our County cannot build enough schools and almost 1/2 our kids are taught in trailers(and in tornado country.)
Also, on a personal note, I live within a few miles of this proposed park with a lot of privacy. I let my 7 dogs and even my goat run free. The road by my house will become a 5 lanes tour bus route, the whole area will become low income apartments for park workers. And most of all, the mainstream theme park "Opryland " went bankrupt a few years ago. What are the odds of a lame, no rides, Bible park succeeding? Then I'm left on the edge of a run down, failing business district.
Finally, no citizen of the county supports this idea but the business community sees easy money and it looks like it's gonna get pushed through. Too bad for me and my community.

Oh the good old bible belt with it's religious theme parks and what-not. Sorry to hear about that though seriously. I used to live around state land and totally understand the privacy and luxury of it. But a Good Friday water ride or Jesus themed rollercoater could rule. (insert sarcasm)

I could get into some roller coasters but they say there will be no rides (maybe the "thrill" in thrill rides is too risque.) It is going to be a walk through exhibit/short movie sort of deal. Guaranteed to bore the sinful urges right out of you.

you started off, obviously, on a tour of hell. then you went to columbine. then to a bar, then a drunk driving accident. then through the rubble of 9/11. then, to heaven, YAY!!!

Separation of church and state has always been for the church's benefit, not the state. It's really just meant to keep the government from decreeing church policy or doctrine. The intent was never to prevent church from dictating government policy or doctrine....

Thats pretty sad, it should go both ways. That money should go to building public schools and fixing roads like Troo said.

Actually the 1st Amendment was drafted to prevent an official State religion, like the Anglican Church, as was common at that time.
wow that place looks like a real winner... so in the games section of the park, are you going to have to shoot holy water in the clowns mouth? or make frogs land on top of communion hosts...

Correct... but one of the primary reasons they so despised the Anglican Church was the establishment of the king as its highest authority, able to amend "God's law" as he saw fit.
At least, that's what they taught me in Catholic school .
when I find an apartment complex I like and the price is right...the only unit that's available is back in a corner and gets NO sunshine at all.... none.

Apartment hunting sucks!\ My roomate recently bailed on me and moved back into his mama's house. what a biznitch. He will still pay his rent (he says) but we also have cable and electric/gas/water/apt insurance bills. This will probably rule out a festie for me for the year. CAMELIGHTSOFTPACK is a DlCK!

I don't GRRR much but just had to vent on this.

As I said before, "GRRRR"
I'd check and make sure the TN state ACLU is involved. They could be instrumental in stopping it. If State funds are involved, it is my understanding that equal time must be allowed for ALL religions. That means atheists, mormons, rasta, etc. However, the ACLU can really only operate by bringing a case against the state by a plaintiff who has been or serves to be violated by the funding.
You should find a way to sell them plastic jesus's or just camp out and set up some signs announcing that if they keep up what they are doing, they will "BURN IN HELL WITH THE LIKES OF PAT ROBERTSON AND JERRY FALWELL." !!!!! ;D
