A friend of mine had convulsions and went to the hospital. He has severe pneumonia (one entire lung is whited out) and they kept him overnight and sent him home today because he has no insurance. My wife, an RN, said he should have stayed at least a week with massive antibiotics.
As some of you may remember, my sister died of ovarian cancer because she was denied prompt care due to lack of insurance.

American Healthcare really does suck. Ever seen Sicko? My father is obsessed with that movie [also, he's a doctor] He's all for the free treatment of everyone.
My roommates piss me the hell off. I am ready to move out of this apartment.

Having been part of "free" healthcare while a dependant in the military - I can tell you from experience that it sucks - it sucks to be told what doctor you can see and that you cannot see a specialist because one is not available and to wait for 3-4 hours to be seen even though there is an appointment system - it sucks because you have no choice but to wait for that 3-4 hours because there is no other doctor to see unless you have enough money to go to a private physician.

i didn't mean the actual free healthcare clinics that we already have, though. i meant that he's more for a free healthcare as in one similar to the Canadian healthcare system. I mean, their healthcare system is really socialized so all citizens get coverage.
I didn't mean to start the whole socialized medicine debate. I'm a bit biased, for obvious reasons. Death of a family member will do that to you. I was just venting because my friend is getting dangerously screwed.

i didn't mean to start anything by my comment either, i was just agreeing at the fact that our healthcare system sucks.

I agree - he is getting dangerously screwed and that is not right but I don't think socialised medicine is the answer -

apparently my roommate thinks that 9 a.m. after a physics test is a good time to play "pour some sugar on me" while i try to do a lab report in 30 minutes, my across the hall neighbor is insistent on telling me all about his tax return and how he's getting $400(why do i care? the only time i talk to him is when he comes into my room about something else he did), and somebody has a replica of one of those blocks from mario that make the "ding" sound out in the hallway, repeatedly hitting it and talking to everyone that comes out of their room about how a childhood wasn't complete without playing mario. GRRRRRRRRRRRR i hate morning time.
edit: and the incinerator(thats what i'm told it is) that just came on outside my window that honest to god sounds like a jet engine.
