Please send prayers and thoughts to my grandma - my aunt died last night of unexpected kidney failure. We're not sure of the exact cause; part of it may be stress-related, as my cousin (aunt's grandson) took himself out of rehab a week or two ago, but other than that we don't know much. This was my grandma's sister, and she also lost her mother earlier in February. While my grandma has handled it relatively well, I know death has been on her mind a lot the past year or two - we've had a few discussions about how she wants things sorted out when she dies and stuff like that. I'm sad too, obviously, but my aunt lived in California so I only saw her once or twice every year or two. I'm really feeling for my grandma now more than anything, and I worry for her mental state. This is bound to be stressful for her, too.
It's scary for me because I have significant anxiety around my immediate family dying, and my aunt was only in her mid-70s. It terrifies me that my grandparents could die so young too. Most of the women on that side of the family lived (or are living) until their 90s, so this was really a surprise. I'm not really one for prayer but if you are and could say a small one for my grandma, I'd appreciate it.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Thanks for the replies guys. Vet called and kitty is NOT blocked (again) but there is definitely some issue, they just aren't sure what it is. So no surgery right now. That's some savings but this trip will still be pricey.
Jaz so sorry to hear about your Aunt. I'll keep your family in my thoughts.
I think that I heard it's okay to give a cat or dog some Miralax. Verify with your vet, but it could help regulate her/him.

Consider it done.
Watching people you love come to terms with mortality is only a bit less terrifying than doing it yourself, I think.

It's a urinary blockage which is somewhat common in male cats. He gets a small crystal in his urethra so he can't pee. There's apparently no real known cause, just some male cats are more likely to get blockages.
Early today I found out my grandmother is in really bad health. I just got a text from my sister that her kidneys are shutting down. I don't know how much longer she has left. She is the last grandparent I have that's alive.

Oh I'm so sorry. That is really really tough. Are you able to go see her?

they've extended the sale till friday due to the site traffic.

Seriously? I don't particularly mind people offering ride services on the thread, but this is not the place.

At least his number is wrong, on a public forum and quoted for prosperity?

I could call in tomorrow and I could see her be I don't think she would see me. My sister said that the only response anyone would get is she would open her eyes when someone was talking. I don't know. Maybe I'll try.
edit: Thanks for the condolences.

I couldn't even get online to check if they had dates for Kyle's trip. It would crash and apologize. I'm glad they've extended it.

Even if you go and hold her hand for a bit she will know you're there.

This. I had a friend who ending up dying after falling while riding razor scooters with his son outside. When he was unconscious in the hospital, I was visiting and talking to his wife. He started jerking around, and it was freaking his wife out. I talked to him in his ear and he settled down. It was one of the crazier things I have ever experienced since he was in a medically induced coma.
Today I watched a woman sob hysterically as she watched her husband handcuffed in court and taken into custody. He was found guilty of drug and gun related crimes that will result in at least 3.5 years of state prison without parole. He will be deported after he serves the jail term.
Eventually I will lose what little semblance of emotion that I have left.

it happens fairly quickly I find. then every once in a while there will be that one person that brings it back and you will be a little less jaded, only for a minute until the assholes of the world jade you all over again. it's a vicious cycle.

sorry to hear this. thinking of you and your family.
It's been working a little lately, but very inconsistently and slowly
Well hopefully it will work. Tuition is paid so all that is left is flights, and Nola to Boston is not cheap. I need all the help I can get.
I also just remembered:
If it's significantly cheaper, there's also PVD/Providence. There's a train that runs from the airport there into Boston, and it's $11 each way. Something to also look into.

Thanks! Right now all flights to Boston from here are $300 + each way. I am talking to some relatives about maybe picking him up a day early, or flying out of Dallas and whatnot. I mean, the tuition was $3000 and then they schedule the kids to fly in on the most expensive travel days of the week. It is fucking annoying. At this point I am even looking into him taking the train up there. I mean he is out of school for the summer.

Hey, I'm trying to find the original post, but what exactly are the dates? I'm trying to see if I can find something cheap. I travel a lot due to work.
