That sucks, Strum, but like Chef said, hopefully it will all turn out for the best in the end. (From what you've said, it sounds like she's probably going to be better off away from him.) And like Jess said, she should keep any proof of infidelity and get a lawyer immediately. If she hasn't worked and has depended on him for income, she should have a pretty decent chance of getting a good settlement out of it. I know that doesn't really make up for what she's going to go through, but it might take a little bit out of the sting out of it.
Aww Strum - that just sucks - I agree with jess and Hilari - she needs to gather all thr proof she can and get an attorney - that includes proof of what wsa in the accounts to begin with and when he made the withdrawals

Thanks guys... Yeah her and I have been working all afternoon on making copies of all the finance records that he had on the family computer and they're all safely on mine now just in case. He had been copying and transfering the files to his laptop over the past week but luckily my dad isn't very computer literate and he didn't delete the old files, but rather just left them in the recycling bin on the desktop. So yeah, hopefully the law will settle this fairly and who knows maybe my dad will just settle once seeing that my mom won't hesitate to get a lawyer.
Some good corn and my friends bought me some rounds at Applebee's so I'm feeling a bit better now. But you all are too kind

I've been trying to take my job a bit more seriously this summer as opposed to last year, and have been refraining from doing things such as have corn for lunch and whatnot and then come inside and play with chemicals. Oddly enough, I've been told by numerous people that have worked with me both years that I'm strangely less meticulous and not as thorough in work this year so far and have asked if I'm losing interest or am just being lazy.
I don't know why, but this is a grrrr for me. Perhaps I should start packing corn in my lunchbox again

# 1 - if you wanna corn - then corn # 2 - how in the hell can they tell this after you have only been there 1 week??????

Well for instance last year I would make sure that I was not a minute late getting back from lunch so my breaks were always exactly an hour whereas this year I tend to extend to an hour 20 minutes or so of wasting time. Also in measuring out stuff last year I would always take the extra time to get everything the exact weight that I need to put into stuff down to the 0.001 gram if necessary, whereas this year I've just been like "meh... what's the big deal in half a gram or so?" and moved on. It really is all very indicitve of my personality post-corning, hence why I usually enjoy to clean afterwards because then everything is clean and it's not a halfass job.
So corn it is I guess... if only it were more acceptable around the workplace. Maybe if I explain to them that I was violating a huge policy every day last year in order to do my thorough work they'd understand and not care

i don't understand what the predicament is... you co-workers are telling you that you did better work whilst nomming.

^^I'm the same way, when i'm corning its like I'm ocd about everything...pretty strange
on a side note, i accumulated 7,500 speedy rewards points today. Hopefully they dont catch on to my little setup i have going....
Which brings me to my "grrrr thought"..why does gas have to be expensive?? it may cause me a festie over the summer...which is why i'm getting speedy rewards points for free gas! at this rate..i'll have accumulated enough points for 3 100 dollar gas cards. Not nearly going to cover gas for this summer's festie/concert schedule...but it will surely help

nom away strum, nom away...
You're right... I don't know why I'm so flustered by this. I should be happy that I indirectly got the nomming approval

This is about half the reason we are not going to Rothbury (the other half being the cost of boarding our dogs). We figured a 13 hour drive was going to end up costing us a bare minimum of $250 in gas. And at the rates the prices are rising, it was probably going to be more like $300 or $350.

My only comment is that, you should go to bonnaroo this year, because gas aint gonna get any cheaper any time soon! :-)

That's the truth. Actually, Josh is going (with my trivia contest ticket), and I'm staying home. Roo is only about a 3 hour drive, so we figure he can get there and back on a tank or a tank and a half, depending on how long he has to sit in line.

so let me get this straight? Roo is only 3 hours away from you and you aren't going?!
that makes me Grrr.... i have like a 11-12 hour drive ahead of me...

Yup. It will be the first year since '04 that one of us has missed it. The only reason Josh is going is because the ticket was free. It just wasn't worth it this year for us to shell out for the tickets, the dog boarding, and all of the other expenses that go along with it. Plus, up until a couple of weeks ago, we were planning on going to Rothbury, so it was an either/or kind of thing.
Anyway, don't GRRR that! He's excited that he finally gets to do a solo-Roo, and I'm excited that I get to spend four days on the couch watching bad movies and eating take-out Chinese food (two things he can't stand ! Plus, I've got about 6 shows lined up in the coming months that I'm planning on going to in order to make up for all the great Roo shows I'm gonna miss.
Grrrr for working with uppity, incompetent people that all seem to be afraid of me. Heaven forbid someone actually be detail-oriented and have the guts to tell others what they've been doing wrong. I've been here for a year and a half. I left a well-paying job (that I hated, granted, but still) for this job because I thought there was opportunity to advance in the company. I'm beginning to think I was terribly wrong.... if after 2 years I'm still an entry-level, hourly-paid employee, I'm going to have to start job hunting. It may be because they're scared of me, it may be because they dont' like me, it may be because they want some schmuck to stick around and do this job well for crap wages. Grrrr all around to this thankless job. Corporate America sucks!!
I've just discovered that my soon-to-be-ex hubby snatched a diamond bracelet out of my dresser drawer before I moved out 3 months ago... it was a gift like 4 years ago... when confronted he tried to deny it but he's not that smooth, he admitted it eventually. I even gave him the engagement ring back (which technically I'm not obligated to do)
^^^that woulda pissed me off and there would have been no way I gave the ring back - I mean - if it was a family heirloom - well then yeah - but if not - nope -
When Igot divorced - I took the engagement ring and had it made into a lovely pendant and my anniversary band and had it reworked into an awesome ring - so now each of the girls has something but it is not quite the same...LOL

GRRRR to the constant humming from the old, bible-thumping, closed-minded, foreigner-mocking old lady in the next cubicle.
GRRRR to this job, in general.
Yay! to leaving this job as soon as Bonnaroo is over!
P.S.- She thinks Obama is the honest-to-god Anti-Christ. Not like just a "bad guy" or anything; the literal "666, mark of the beast, book of revelations, second coming of Christ is imminent" Anti-Christ.

^^ GRR to that looney lady
GRR... I saw two cops drive past a pregnant lady who had a flat tire! We were at IN and Out Burger for lunch. While in the drive thru I saw the car with the flat first then the very pregnant lady popping the trunk. It took a while to get our food, but the cops had no lights on, not in a hurry, they both went by at different times. I was upset, my bf says it's not their job to change tires. But I thought they would at least check on her? But guess that's not the case here in Las Vegas. We have only lived here 6 months so it was a culture shock.

Sooo you're saying she read the "Left Behind" serious too many times and sees him as Carpathia - the antagonist in the books - I can see the similarities there - but I don't think I would go so far as to call him the Anti-Christ
My doofus asshat of an ex had the nerve to cop an attitude with me when I tried to tell him how stealing my bracelet was one more example of how he never valued what i gave up for him. Seriously I want to kick his fat ass up and down the street.
The real 'GRRRR' is that I ever wasted my time on that relationship and actually shut a part of myself down to try and make it work.
Oh... and I also found out he threw away my mother's perfectly goo $200 Kitchenaid mixer... which is what I used to make my super kick-ass awesome cookies with
