No I don't think so. There's nothing there for me to do. She was a part time Blackboard Administrator there, I was HR Manager/Trainer/Employee Manager/Run Everything in Freakin Texas here, so needless to say she is getting trained now to take over what I did and she has no clue how to do any of it. They already have HR Managers in Chicago - that's the main Corp office.
Man, that's the worst. I wish you the best of luck in finding a new job. I know it sucks to be out of work - maybe the silver lining is that you'll be away from that scumbag boss and scumbag co-worker.

Thanks a ton! Just hearing encouragement today has helped so much.
I am very much looking forward to not working for a scumbag company anymore. The people there were just awful to each other (in all the other cities). We had a good thing going here in Texas, we were like a family and I loved my co-workers. All of my employees have been calling me telling me that they want to quit now. It makes me sad for them too.
That is all seriously $hitty. Take heart that something better will come and companies that are run by men who behave that way will always be dysfunctional. There's just nothing that can fix something that is that putrid at the core.
I've never even slightly been in trouble at my job and being blindsided and fired this way is crazy. My boss was even telling me what a great job I did WHILE he was firing me. Amazing.
What does your separation notice say was their reasoning for letting you go? As long as you didn't break any rules, You're just a short 2 hour visit to the Department of Labor away from at least getting some money weekly.
I've been debating if I wanted to post this but I could use some support from the greatest people on the planet.
I got laid off today because a girl from our Chicago office f*cked the owner and he had to keep her happy so she wouldn't tell his wife, who also works at the Chicago Corp office. Well the way to keep her happy (anything she wanted sort of situation) was to give her my job here in Texas and give her a raise. Done. I'm fired. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR x a million. I'm still in awe this happened.
So just tell the owner you are going to tell his wife what went down, and that you know her name and her address at work so you can send her a registered letter.
Don't blackmail him or ask for anything just tell him you are morally uncomfortable with leaving her in the dark about his philandering ways.

I didn't even get any separation paperwork. All I got was a phone call, so their bad. If I didn't sign anything then they can't deny me unemployment benefits and there is nothing in my file saying I was ever in trouble for doing anything.
Wolfman: I would love to write his wife but I am more concerned about getting unemployment than screwing up his life. His wife lives so far up his ass she wouldn't believe me anyway. I'm sure he would just tell her that I'm a disgruntled former employee.

Wait until the first check and write her anyway just for shits and giggles, also make sure you include names.

Unfortunately that isn't true. Trust me. I'm on my 2nd appeal against them and I didn't sign anything.
MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR SEPARATION NOTICE. If you don't have it and your final check with in a week GO TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR and let them know what's up and they'll have that dudes ass on a platter!
When I was fired from Chipotle they never gave me a separation agreement, I've actually never heard of such a thing. I was able to get unemployment, because I was fired due to personality conflicts and not any wrong- doing.

Basically. They are suppose to give you a separation notice. If they don't you can basically make up whatever story you want to get unemployment.

You're right, they are supposed to, but because they didn't and there is no documentation of me ever doing anything wrong, meaning there is no paperwork with my signature on it for being written up or anything, they are worse off than I am. I deal with unemployment all the time being in HR, so I could have technically written up my own notice I guess, but that wouldn't do me any good. LOL...I have laid myself off before though. Gave myself a fat severance package and a computer. Anyway though, in Texas, in a situation like this where the company has poor practices and doesn't document properly, it nearly always goes in favor of the employee.

I always find it amazing when large companies such as Chipotle doesn't have good HR practices. You would think they would know! But good for you that you got it!
The larger companies are more outrageous at bad labor practice. Retail and fast food are the worst. They know the rules, and don't seem to care because it only hurts their profit margins being good.
Chipotle IIRC is pretty bad company wide, even considering the low standards of food service.

Note to self: Never apply for HR at Chipotle. People can personally sue HR professionals these days. Gotta be careful to work for a company that stay compliant.
Restaurants/fast food/service industry in general is pretty bad, IMO.

They're a company that has grown and expanded into new territories much faster than expected, leaving them with a small pool of experienced managers, let alone ones that are willing to relocate from the somewhere like the Denver area to somewhere like New England. They gave Regional Manager jobs and other high level salary jobs to hourly cooks and shift supervisors, for the sole reason they were willing to relocate essentially, not because they were actually ready for the position.

That's always a bad idea, poor Chipotle employees under them!
That's the way my old company (most recent) was structured. They expanded really fast in Chicago and put (Gold) Buyers, aka store employees, in high level positions like Director of Training, Marketing Director, etc. They were so unstructured and treated people so poorly due to no management skills.
So sorry to hear about that shit, roohippielove! That really sucks.
I can say that when I worked fer Red Robin years ago they also had a terrible HR department. One of our managers was rollin' back our clock-out times to match her labor, and we caught her. A bunch of us called and emailed HR and they didn't do a damn thing.

Thanks Dan! I'm still pretty pissed but it's getting better.
That sucks about Red Robin. Like I said, most restaurants are really bad about it. The shitty thing is too, I got the Texas market 100% compliant with all laws and almost as soon as it was done I got let go. Thanks for letting me fight all of those battles for nothing. I could have taken advantage of their non-compliance

Labor matrix's are the bane of my existence. The sandwich chain I worked at for 6 years would punish managers for not meeting sales projections by cutting the amount of labor they were allowed, to the point of having 2 people closing an entire restaurant. Upper management made it very clear that if you weren't clocked out by 10pm, you were in very big trouble, even if it meant clocking out and still working until you were done. It's fucking illegal, but no one seemed to care.

That's kinda what's been happenin' at my Melting Pot. Except our owner is just a cheap bastard. So now we're not allowed to clock in until about 45 minutes before we open on weekdays and still we're expected to set up everythin' and have a twenty minute pre-shift. And on weekends most of us aren't scheduled to show up until after we open. So because we don't want to to f'ed in the a we all show up early and do the work without pay.
I know a lot of people here have pet peeves in regards to seeing shows.
I don't care if you look at your phone and surf the web or text - I do that a lot. But for the love of corncat, people need to seriously shut the fuck up during sets. What did these kids pay to come here for?
