Yesterday at my local gas station, I had a conflict with an employee for some reason. This gas station is in the middle of nowhere, but it's the closest one to my house. I just moved into the area a year ago, and have always gotten weird looks and vibes from the employees there. I went in to get gas and milk, and as I'm getting the milk, I notice it expires the same day. I go back into the cooler to grab one a little further back, and start catching a world of crap from a dude who was stocking the fridge. Long story short, he calls me an arsehole and tries to tell me that none of the milk is expired. I laugh him off and mention something about it to the guy at the cash register who owns the place. As I'm purchasing my stuff, the guy starts defending his employee and threatens to call the cops the next time I make a scene. I told him that this is absolutely no way to do business, drove off, and let someone else use the 40$ in gas. The details of what he actually said to me and tried to argue, are just insane. What a bunch of d-bags.

He made you so mad you gave him 40$?
I had trouble with that part too - I assumed I was misreading it.

He had already assigned it to a pump, so I let someone else use the gas. Doing someone a favor in light of the crappy situation made me feel better about it. I can always get gas somewhere else.

That is how I am reading it too. You just lost 40 bucks cause you were pissed at the owner. F that dude! I woulda got my gas no matter how pissed i was!

So, I just read an article about the Mars One Project where they are accepting applications for a volunteer mission to become the first civilian residents of a colony on mars. I immediately went to submit my application only to find I am three inches too short to apply... Super lame...

Been living at my dukes house for a year after college to try and save some $$$ and get a job. Both went rather well over this year. 2 of my good friends and I were 1 step away from getting a house together closer to all our work places when their previous landlord totally reemed them out to our new landlord via the reference. To say the least we didnt get the house and now we have to lie on all future application.

Obviously I don't know your friends and their situation, and there are plenty of crappy landlords out there, so maybe they didn't do anything to deserve the bad reference, but if your friends did, in any way, deserve a negative reference, I would strongly (cannot emphasize strongly enough) suggest giving serious consideration to whether you really want to become roommates with them. I'm sure your friends are lovely people, but living with roommates can be completely awful under normal circumstances. If there is an added element of irresponsibility, that can add so much more pressure to the situation.
Again, I'm in no way judging your or their situation. Like I said, I totally recognize that they may not have deserved the bad reference at all. Just a piece of friendly advice from someone who has had irresponsible roommates in the past.
custeph That's horrible news and I wish cancer would pack up it's shiz and take it away from inforoo and the ppl we love. shiz, take it away from Earth, it is so unfair and devastating
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
i will probably have to buy it at bestbuy b/c that is the only place i have a credit card.
(thanks for the help guys!)
last year when I needed a new laptop (for personal/school use), I lusted after a MacBook but couldn't justify the expense, so I asked the guys at best buy what brand they used. I got a resounding "Lenovo", which I had never heard of before. it's IBM and for around $500 I have been super impressed. pros: plenty of storage, decent display, easy to use, love that you can manipulate the mouse pad to zoom the display (like you can on an iPhone); overall, a great laptop. the only con I've found is the speakers- it's not the best for watching movies, but it's not terrible.

there should be an "agree" or "acknowledge" button for posts like this one.

walked out the door without my cell phone this morning... how did anyone ever get anything accomplished without one back in the day? I grew up in the age of pagers and payphones but man, have I become dependent on that tiny little iPhone. I left it at home this morning and it is already driving me crazy not to have it, less than 30 minutes into my work day. I live too far away to go run home and get it, otherwise I totally would, right now. I think maybe it's a bit like a security blanket for me- is that crazy?

I'm the same way. It's such a terrible feeling. I'll dump out my bag at least 6 times throughout the day just to make sure it didn't get hidden under something or stuck in a pocket.

OK, I gotta vent for a minute. As I've mentioned a couple times, we're under contract for a house. The seller is clearly distressed, but just as clearly a HUGE eff-up as a person, and also nasty, mean, and violent. At every step of the way, he's tried to cause problems, and we've done NOTHING BUT APPEASE HIM. He's rude bordering on violent with me every time I have to deal with him, which I won't do now without another person present. Any normal people would've abandoned the offer long ago, but at this point we've spent huge bucks (lawyer, structural engineering report, sewage video scope, radon, pest, inspection) and I'm afraid he's going to blow the closing out of...spite? Will to fail? I dunno. He keeps telling people that he's suspicious of us because we're too easy to deal with (GOD THAT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL). If the market here wasn't so difficult, and our needs so particular, and if we hadn't spent a year and a half looking and seen over 50 properties to find anything CLOSE to what we want, I would be saying, to hell with it. But now, I want this goddang house if I have to have the sheriff get this guy out of it. WHICH, I probably will. ARRRRGGGGHHHH.

That situation sounds horrible. What would drive someone to be so awful like that? And if you are buying the house and paying him for it, what is he to be suspicious of?
Also, what is this first call and last call you speak of in your saying under your picture?

I honestly think he is so paranoid, and possibly substance-addled, that he thinks we're getting a 'steal' somehow (and let me tell you...we are NOT. If we didn't plan to hold this property for a long time it would NOT be a good deal.) His negativity is really sapping my soul, I gotta say. I've never met someone so difficult.
As for my sig...that's a bit of touring wisdom from my old sax player. Basically means, when you're in a new city, its not how late the bars stay open, its how early they'll let you get at the hair of the dog. An 8am drink is way harder to find than a 1am drink when you need one!

Let your agent deal with him. That's their job, and if your agent isn't doing their job, than I don't know what to say.
We lost close to 4,000 trying to buy a house in Overbrook, about 2 years ago. I'm not fond of realtors, banks, and sellers anymore. I'm not fond of trying to buy a house period, I guess I should say.
Not trying to be optimistic in the grrr thread but the assessed value of my home went down another 4k according to a letter I got today. If I were going to sell, grrrrr, but for me, I have no intent (ever probably) of selling my house. The letter thus meant my taxes will go down for another 2 years. They appraise 2 years in the past so the economy was still down. I figure it will take 5-10 years to fully recover what my house was worth during the top of the bubble. I "lost" about 70k in the crash on my house, but who cares ... cr****
not as much of a "grr" as a "meh", but finishing my pathophysiology final is not the most fun I've ever had on a Friday night. would be a LOT better if only starbucks served red bull + vodka.
Since I don't work anymore, I do FB a bit. Why does it seem like a lot (most) of the people I have known for years are far right wing. Yikes. I guess we never discussed politics. I still like them. It's a challenge now to change them. Naw to each their own... cr****
I need to read my advanced schedules more often... because when you pay attention you realize you have 6 overnights in a row. And that your two days off next week are actually 1 1/4 days because of the turnover.
Oh production....
