It's two seperate hotels, one on each side of the city. I booked both because I wasn't sure where I wanted to stay yet. And I booked it for 5 nights, but am only getting charged for 1 night.
No way in hell am I giving away one night in a hotel to some random person that has my credit card associated to it and could be charged for any damage or additions. What is wrong with you people? lol
That moment when the University owes you 4 grand and it seems no one on campus knows where the money is or why it isn't in my bank account and you had to borrow money from your parents for rent and your phone payment got denied and you need about $100 in school supplies and about $300 in books and the gas tank in the car is getting low. Ya that moment sucks.
Damn, I hope this gets worked out for you. This does indeed suck.

In working with students at a university for about 5 years now, I can say that regularly it seems people are all too ambivalent to the financial bind most students are constantly in. Sometimes it feels like I am the only one advocating for my students to make sure they are paid on time (despite turning in their time reports late) or making sure that they are reimbursed quickly for hefty out of pocket expenses.
I think a lot of university employees are so far removed from their starving student days that they don't remember/understand exactly HOW important each paycheck or out of pocket expense is, and are not willing to go above and beyond to be sure errors are corrected (on either side) to be sure to get students are made whole in a timely manner.

In July, we turned over all the candidate screening process to HR for new hires, created a mandatory second interview and gave them control of offer negotiations. Since July I've been able to hire 1 full-time employee!! I have 12 openings!!! I'm freaking out! Like math?? Come to Chicago and work for me! For serious. I'm totally serious.

I feel your pain, albeit to a lesser degree. we are currently short two nurses and just hired another physician who will be starting next month, and it's about to be flu season. soooo it's been a little crazy around here. I am staying optimistic though. and I'll send some good thoughts your way!

I don't like math, but I want to work for you!
I'm sorry. You're off the list due to not liking math.

I hope it gets sorted out soon, bakes.
It's pretty ridiculous honestly. This is like the 4th or 5th semester my money has gotten held up. Some of the times it has been my fault (not turning in paperwork on time). But several times like this time there is nothing I could of done.
The Financial Aid Office disbursed my money and it got sent to the Bursar's Office where a hold was placed on it. No one at the office knew why but know of the people I talked too had the power to take it off. They said it was going to automatically be removed on the 3rd. I checked yesterday and the hold was gone but so was all the money. I called to check assuming it may of already been sent to my bank, but it wasn't. The Bursar's people weren't sure where it went and told me to come in Friday if it doesn't appear.
How the hell does $4000 just disappear into the ether of University bureaucracy? Also how is the solution just to wait and hope it magically reappears?

March down to their office and demand to speak to a supervisor. (It's harder to blow someone off when they are in your face). Tell them your rent is due, the baby is sick and needs medicine, the loan shark is going to break both your legs, whatever the fuck your have to say. I'd suggest crying, but that mostly works for females with big brown eyes.

I just got off the phone with an old friend/neighbor who called because she needed to know where to take her 10 year old daughter who just admitted that her 15 year old stepbrother has been "touching her". I hate that I can answer this without even having to look it up. I'd like a life where I don't know this kind of information. How much math do I need to be able to do?

with the power to do something is hidden away at some off-campus building where the public isn't allowed and the the person I need to talk to will only be at the other office on Friday. Seriously

This is a close second to getting a phone call on your message machine on a Friday at 5PM right before a holiday that says "We got the results of your mammogram and we are going to need you to call us as soon as possible."
Had it happen to me in 06. Seriously? Who does that?
So I got my money! Sucks for those who don't have high connections though. From the call I got directly from the bursars office director I'm guessing Tue only reason it was resolved was a few texts to my first info supervisor who know has a high position in the university's president office now.
More in line with the thread I'm really Fucking fantastic at torturing myself sometimes.
